    Hi I’m a complete beginner, turned on to your content by accident, and now it’s mostly what I watch, so thanks for that, anyway I’m contemplating setting up VPN (possible vpnexpress since it seems to be the most popular and you seem to favour it the most. I am intrigued by the idea of being able to setup my VPN on a guest network.
    So I have a couple of questions.
    1. Would the process be the same as setting it up on my main network
    2. Essentially would I be creating a network under another name.
    3. Could I create the same thing with multiple VPN provider switching my devices between them as needed.
    4. How would it effect the use of the router
    5. My new router is probably gonna be with Vodafone would that be good enough or would I need to purchase something else.

    I tried configuring the OpenVPN on my router it didn't work on my Apple TV. However, the location address did successfully change on another computer. But the change wasn't recognized on the Apple TV.

      I’m overseas using the Apple TV 4th gen. Have ExpressVPN as well. Having problems using Hulu now and a few other apps. If I get that other Asus router, would I connect it the Wi-Fi router I already have? Then put the express vpn on that router and connect the Apple TV to that room r do I have to have two different Wi-Fi accounts?

    Doesn't this put your whole router through the tunnel though (All your outgoing devices in that network)? Or can you configure the .ovpn file so that your apple TV device is the only outgoing device that's being encrypted? Any tips for this? Please reply!

    Josh, I just wanted to say thank you...it worked! Been trying to get Apple TV connected to Surfshark since February and gave up after multiple tries with a few different Surfshark tech support reps. Just came across your video today and all is working beautifully now. Using OpenVPN was what the techs were missing. Thank you!

    I've always considered applying a VPN at the router level but I am hesitant because while using NordVPN, certain apps will just not load for no reason and it is fixed by stopping the VPN. If you apply a VPN on a router level, is there a way to whitelist certain apps or devices entirely from the VPN?

    • @AllThingsSecured
      @AllThingsSecured  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Great question! I don't know of a white list feature per se, but what you can do is setup a VPN on your guest network and make the primary network free of the VPN. That way, you can connect your Apple TV to the guest network (with a VPN) and then your computer or whatever device you want to access these other apps to the regular network. Make sense?

    Hi,very helpfull bu still I do have a question. I just want my Apple TV to be seen as it would be hosted in another country. I would go fot the option 1, means enabling a VPN on my router. If I do so, all my devices at home are seen as I am in the country tha i selected. This is not what I want. I only want my apple TV, or better my DisneyChanel APP being seen abroad. Is there any suggestion how to go around this limit. Thank you, great Video again. BR

    Can anyone provide a list of options for routers that can be configured? I am in China and have a Huawei router but my configuration pages are written in Mandarin and I can not read it. I can't find a list in the video notes so I am stuck at this point. I did use ExpressVPN to add a static DNS IP address to my new Apple TV but it will not work at all for TH-cam (confirmed by ExpressVPN and is not working with Disney either. Works with Netflix but spotty.

    This question may have already been answered but if I were to buy a new Asus router capable of adding a VPN, does this router need to replace my ISP router or can it just connect to the ISP router?

    • @AllThingsSecured

      It has to connect to the ISP modem, which is usually the same as the router nowadays.

    There is a reason that ISPs supply router-modems and it's not for the benefit of the consumer. I'd go without internet before having one and I've not gone without internet since the mid '80s.

    I don't know if it is the case with Apple TV (I don't own one) but I have had other devices which hard-code the DNS and some had the separate field for a DNS server. There were workarounds which involved attaching to the console somehow and changing certain key values, not ideal. Just wondering if you have split your network to allow certain devices that don't need geo-location spoof to go the normal way or are you just turning on the VPN ad-hoc in order to watch the content and then turning it off when it is not needed. Thanks, I have been thinking of trying the Apple TV and this is good information.

    • @AllThingsSecured
      @AllThingsSecured  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Wayne! My router has an app that allows me to easily turn the VPN on and off ad-hoc, so that's what we tend to do. But I've done it before where I set up the guest network to have the VPN and the other network to be VPN-free.

    Good stuff. I appreciate your trailblazing this subject. I live in Costa Rica and would love to put the VPN on my router but then I run into trouble that the CR bank won't allow access from any computer outside of CR.

    • @AllThingsSecured
      @AllThingsSecured  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The good news, Rob, is that with a high quality router, you can turn the VPN on and off, so that when you need to access your bank, you can turn it off, but when you want to watch something, you can turn it back on. I have a whole tutorial you can watch here: th-cam.com/video/s6rSxv87_qY/w-d-xo.html

      @@AllThingsSecured Because you said that you are living in Asia, from my understanding, many ISP in Asia use SNI-based level filtering to block traffic like Netflix. Thus I am wondering whether you are having the same issue as mine. As I know ISP in UK or USA won’t do that, thus causing the Smart dns not working as expected. So which city do u live in? I am in India.
