I did a little bit of research for you because Talens is a compagny in the Netherlands.I AM from the Netherlands..IT s a compagny thT starter in Apeldoorn in 1895.Since than they make mainly supplies for schools.Paint and Inkt.In 1991 they were taken over het Sukura. They Carrie different brands like van Gogh Amsterdam acrylpaint.and Bruynzeel pencils. They have real artsupplies and a cheap children line.Hope to have given you some internering info
I live in norway and art creation is the only watercolor i know they sell in my City. I can travel to other Citys and they May have winsor and newton, so i have used art creation since i was 11 years old (now im 13) Im very happy with them.
Talens is a well known brand in the Netherlands. We mostly use It at school OR as paint for children. Talens also have crayons and ink .In school the gouache Paint from a big bottle of Talens.I remember my mother was very please with the Paint because the Paint was easy to remover from our clothes o.When I was a child more than fifthy years ago.we learned to write with black ink.I can still smell the talens ink.
These colors here cost about half of my monthly income where I live. If I wanted say, Van gogh I would have to save for it for years. I guess that is why the company made them 😅
This line of paints are an excellent value, thank you for your review, Lindsey. The scene you created with these paints last week says it all, very pigmented, easy to mix colors, and vibrant. Happy Monday! Lisa🕊
Lindsay,i just bought a set of 36 royal talens water soluble oil pastels and I absolutely love them, looks sort of like oil paint when you use them with water.I commented below before,as always just love your presentations.🌹🌄👍❤
This is good info for me! I bought a starter pack of Artist Loft and not too happy....It has separated inside the tubes and is frustrating for me. I went and bought a couple of single tubes of a mid grade and like them so much better but my budget will like your video choice for beginning. Thanks. Buy the way, your videos inspired me to try water colors. It's such fun. Thank you.
Thanks Lindsay. Reviews are always appreciated. No knowledge is ever wasted. It's good to know about options. I loved your pallet tour, lol. I made a transparent pallet , so I could learn my transparent colors(80% of which are staining) so two birds with one stone there! When I use it up I'll not refill it because now I know them. I'm revising my daily working pallet I've used for a year because now I can see the colors I use most and ones I don't. This helped me fill the portable painter pallet I just got. Only really needed 8 colors but I put 4 incase I'm lazy colors just because I had them. Two years in and I have 6 pallets. The new daily pallet will have 5 different brands in split primary format but only 12 to 14 colors. 4 of them being , yeah, I'm to lazy to mix these colors. But I could if I wanted to. Lol.👍🥴🤣💜
Oh yes. Do watch the palet tour. Still laughing on Jason his commentary in the video,it's hilarious :P for the price I rather buy me the winsor and newton cotman set of 12; Ive painted with them for two years befor upgrading to a bigger palette. Im a big fan of starting small for a good understanding of color theory.
Always love watching your videos and i have enjoy the way you present the videos.I have come to enjoy working with watercolors more since i have bee following your art.Lindsay keep going strong and you have a fan for life.👌😊😀👍❤🏡
Thanks for another great review! You are always super honest and informative. I really appreciate that. I am a crafter, aspiring to learn watercolors. Unfortunately I haven’t used my watercolors much. Instead I have been addicted to review videos and purchased a variety of paints. I have the pretty excellent palette (cute box), the kuretake set in the big green box, the Van Gogh cute pocket box with 15 colors (12 + 3), white knights set of 24 in large plastic palette, and last but not least, my SUPER SPLURGE, my schmenkie akademie (spelling?) special holiday edition from a few years back in the gorgeous rainbow tin. Oops let’s not forget the prima metallics...lol! Yes I have a problem. I have used the pretty excellent, but mostly the Van Gogh. I have challenged myself to buy less ant use more. I’ve been pretty good, I haven’t added more paints in about a year, and have been playing with my paints a little more. But to be honest I have not touched the white knights or Schmincke even to swatch. I’m intimidated by them. If you have any tips to help keep me on track of buying less and using more that would be great! Thanks for all you do!
Just keep in mind that watercolor is slow wearing so it will take ages to use them up and if you do use up a color it will feel good (not bad) and you can buy a refill tube without guilt. Best of all you will know that that replacement will get used. The more you paint the better you will feel about your stash and will be less worried about wasting paint orusing it up. It's meant to be used. I think you will love the white nights!
Watching videos like this from a bit ago are so jarring wow inflation is scary! I just purchased the 12 set for about 20.00 (local art store so I know it's prob less on Amazon/blick)
Hi Lindsay. I have heard you mention, more than once, whether the w.c. paints have cracked in the pans or not. Other than the possibility of the chips of paint falling out of the pans, is there any other reason to stay away from those paints that do crack? What makes them crack? Thanks!
That's the main reason. If you prefer to work from the tube instead of letting the paint dry in a palette it dosent matter. Often student paint skimps on the humectant so if you add a bit of honey or glycerin to the paint when its fresh it wont crack.
It seems like you have been doing a lot of non-painting videos lately. I appreciate the information you share but I’m missing your tutorials very much. Please start painting again. You are one of my favorite people on utube and I love to watch you paint.

I like all the Colors of Royal Talens, Aquarell, Acryl and Oil ♡
I like this video very much ! It gives me the satisfaction of looking at a swatched open paint in a palette without having to spend the money 😅
I love the pallet you have in this video.
I use royal talens gouache and it is amazing!
Thanks, someone was just asking about it!
@@thefrugalcrafter oh you HAVE to do a review on it, hands down the best gouache I have ever tried!

Kinda surprised you feel these are better than reeves brand. But, thank you so much for this review!
the main reason is the reeves crack in the palette when dry
Would like to see review on the acrylic by talens
I'm not sure I could properly review acrylics
I'm a hobbies looking for good paint thanks for this will definitely keep in mind 🎉
Happy to help!
Thanks for another great review!!

I was going to buy the acrylic paints of these but was trying to see if they are considered student grade or professional
All of the art creation products are student grade. I have not tried the acrylic.

Which are better, pretty excellent watercolors or the art creation ones?
Pretty excellent

I posted a painting tutorial last Wednesday and the Sunday before that:) Maybe you missed them? I usually post painting on Wednesday and Sundays.
Ok. I’ll have a look, thanks

Can you please tell me where you got your porcelain paint palette pictured in this video?
Amazon. If you click on my Amazon recommendations page in the video description it's ob my list.
@@thefrugalcrafter Thank you!!. I really enjoy watching your videos!
Are they chalky?
Not too bad and they dont crack when dried down like chalky paints usually do.
