@@imogenmoonlight this is a insane take, i think you really misunderstand her character and the movie if that's what you think.... if she was only using them cuz she cannot play tennis herself she wouldn't have spent time with them before her injury lol. Tashi does love them, she truly did begin feeling for Art when he was expressing he was ready to retire. It just bothers her because SHE'S not ready to retire and she is playing through Art at that point cuz she cannot play herself, but that is her husband and the father of their child. If you think she has no love or care for him whatsoever that's absolutely insane.... And she did always love Patrick as well, which explains her having a affair with him multiple times. It's just Patrick isn't going to deal with her bullshit as easily as Art and he's more prone to fight back. Do you not see her expression when he storms out of her dorm room?? She was upset by him actually leaving her, which is what caused her to be off balance during her match that day. However, part of her blames Patrick for her injury because of their argument that day, even tho it's not his fault, it's just how our brains can cope with situations like that. Tashi finds confidence and security in tennis, it's all she's known since her childhood. It's how she took care of her family, made a name for herself, her injury ruined that, so she worked with Art which allowed her to fill that void through him, but that does not equal she's a heartless woman who has no care for these two men who she obviously does have feelings for, your take is outrageous .
Patrick isn't even a bad person. I think him sleeping with Tashi while she was engaged to Art was just payback for sabotaging his relationship and abandoning him lol.
Art and Patrick were never bad people, Tashi yes because of the way she treated everybody not only them, sometimes i dont even know why Patrick and Art loved her so much.
Aww it really did circle back to their first doubles match when they hugged on the court, that’s so cute. Also loved the churro scene, probably my favorite scene of theirs tbh
I think Tashi going to college was more of a marketing scheme for her going professional, it's the more humble upbringing / approach a lot of athletes like to go for sometimes lol
i genuinely don’t believe art would view tashi sleeping with patrick as a betrayal. i think if it occurred to him that they could all be together they would be, but because they haven’t worked out how to be together healthily they all circle each other in this toxic way their whole lives. ultimately they really have an unspoken understanding of one another and they accept that that’s their dynamic. you see this in the way patrick got excited that art was meddling (they both truly love tashi, and truly love each other but art hasn’t confronted how he feels for patrick so pursuing her simultaneously keeps them together). the way patrick knew signaling with the racket would piss art off and light a fire under him and help him win for real. the way tashi says she’ll leave him if he loses but only says that because she knows that’s what he’s asking for from her, to apply pressure to motivate him. and yes she did go see patrick intending to sleep with him, but she’s also panicked that with art’s confidence so low (because she’s built up his technique but patrick was what built up his passion and fire and his love for playing and he needs them both) she’s maybe gone too far or he might not actually be able to win but she doesn’t want to lose their marriage and asks patrick to let him win. the way patrick even says, “sleeping with me would be one thing, but asking me to throw it for him would kill him” he even knows art would be able to get over them being together (i mean he knew about atlanta and let it slide so he’d probably just be frustrated that they didn’t include him if anything) he wants her to pressure him, he’d just be crushed that she doubted him to that degree. they all act in these crazy ways but it’s out of love and care and the adrenaline the three of them get from chasing each other and the thrill of the game. put it to you this way, if tashi sat art down and said “i slept with someone else…” he’d be devastated. if she said “…it was patrick” i think he’d say “…okay, we can talk this out. what happened exactly? tell me everything, be specific” lol
Gahdamn finally someone in the TH-cam comments understands these three and the movie!!! FUCK YESS that's exactly their deal! I'm just so happy the director Luca confirmed that after this tennis match they just "go back to the hotel" like how they were in the beginning. Love tha for hem, love that for me, everyone wins!!!
this is probably one of my fav reactions. idk but i feel like patrick did the racket thingy at the end because he also wants to see art plays tennis with more passion (because you know art is beginning to lose interest and wants to retire). i'm team patrick, i know he's not a "great" person but at least he admits and owns it, that's why he said that to tashi in his car. tashi doesn't want patrick because they are too similar and she knows she can't control him. i think the three of them are perfect for each other and they need each other. and at the end why tashi was smiling because she just wants some good f*cking tennis lol. this movie is just so so good, i literally can rewatch it 100 times
They should have just been a throuple from the very beginning. I think that's what ended up happening at the end there. Although explaining that to the daughter would be hella messy 😬
Happy Birthday, Bryce! 🎂 I love Patrick, too! I feel SO BAD for Patrick! He constantly saw through Art's and Tashi's facades yet they kept being miserable by not being real. *He KNEW that Art was going to try to sabotage his relationship with Tashi; He KNEW that Tashi was going to date Art because he would be her lapdog; He KNEW that Tashi simultaneously resented Art and wanted to vicariously play tennis through Art; He KNEW Art wanted to retire without even speaking to him for over a decade.* Patrick may be a sl*t, but he's ALWAYS honest. They treated Patrick like a rodent infected with rabies, but he was the most sane out of all three of them! 🤦🏾♀️😕
Wow the fact Mike actually worked out so he can sweat profusely for the shot makes it look all the better lol, he’s also the athlete meanwhile Josh gets the water bc he actually had to train like Z to play decently haha
As a Mike Faist stan, y'all definitely should watch 2021's West Side Story as Mike's Riff was such a great performance! He truly should've been nominated for more awards. And although he isn't in the pro shot of Newsies, that's a fantastic show that was his broadway debut in 2012! Both are on disney+
I saw this in theaters 5 times, 3 alone and the other 2 with my sisters and let me tell you!!! this film is top-tier, and I love how each character intertwines into each other. The whole fire and ice name between Patrick and Art depicts a lot about their characters; Art is more receptive or rather a dog to Tashi, and Patrick is that temptation in a way. Where Art lacks in skill, Patrick overpowers with his overconfident presence. Tashi in a way ties the two, because she has or had what they lack in each other. hence why she’s over joyous in the end; they finally came together and understood what the relationship aspect is in tennis.
The sponsorships in this movie are crazy it makes it seem almost real I mean, Nike and adidas is pretty sick, Dunkin and Chili’s are random but still cool lol
Good eye with the camera shots of the conversations going back and forth between two people, pretty cool. And that’s why I like watching this movie again to notice what I hadn’t before, as with other movies I love
Both Patrick and Tashi realized that, although they were better players naturally, Art's work ethic/willingness to learn from others could take him farther than Patrick, if he had the right motivation. Tashi realized it from the start, and was rooting for him to find enough passion to beat Patrick by offering her number to the winner. Patrick knew that Tashi did light a fire under Art, and so while he couldn't find it in himself to actually concede/not fight his hardest, because that would be a betrayal, he used the cheating as a provocation to draw Art into potentially beating him truly on his own merit (might Art have gotten himself there, after drawing out a commitment by Tashi to leave if he lost? very probably, but playing on Art's anger is a surer bet than playing on his desire, even for Tashi). Now they're both playing at their best skill levels, with what they want lighting the fire under them, and Art may not even want to retire any more after this. Meanwhile, Patrick pleased Tashi by giving her the best tennis she's ever seen, and the first time she's really gotten to be part of the match since her injury (obviously she was coaching Art, but he never got to this point on his own). Meanwhile, it gives him a good audition and future chances to get back in both their good graces. But I'm definitely with Zuff that the daughter is conveniently aged for them all to have at least considered that she came from the Atlanta affair (whether or not that was the case).
Rob hit it right on the head. The story narrative goes back and forth between past and present just like the game of tennis. Brilliant. Guadagnino is an amazing director.
Happy belated and thanks, Bryce! Thanks, Rob! Thanks, Zuff! 🎾 Everything I've seen from director Luca Guadagnino, I've either deeply appreciated or absolutely loved.
Rob is so real for the anxiousness when watching uncut gems lmaoo I only saw it once when it came out five years ago and I still remember it. This however I enjoyed bc the ending was unpredictable and the execution was great
The back and forth was wild! I wonder if the Fire & Ice thing was a misdirect, not one is fire and the other is ice, but that they each share both. Art is chill, but also has fiery anger, while Patrick is pretty cool and swauve, but with a fiery passion and extroverted personality. It definitely was a unique movie, I have no idea who I would cheer for. Oh yeah, and happy birthday Bryce!
I saw an interview (after I watched the movie thank goodness) where Josh and Zendaya basically spoiled the whole movie trying to defend that Art was the true villain. I completely disagree. They're all not great people but Art is the least to blame imo.
I think they were trying to say that Art was the worst because he was never being his true authentic self. He never admitted that he was being a snake when they were teenagers and believes that he is a good person who always had good intentions. Do I think he is the worst? definitely not, but I think their point was that being someone else’s puppet/lap dog is worse than actually being yourself even when you are a horrible person (Tashi and Patrick) lol
i think art’s biggest fault is lacking a sense of self and being so insecure, and this fact paired with him being obsessed with patrick and tashi (probably because they’re so confident and secure of themselves) and feeling “left out” is what leads him to act wrongly. Not that i’m defending it, he’s kinda the biggest catalyst to why things go wrong
I have really enjoyed Luca guadagino previous work but this one tops them all for me the direction was top tier I’m still unsure how they did some of those greenish match shots also every performance was on point from josh o corners cheeky charm in particular coming out also Mike feist I remember loving him in Spielberg’s west side story so Ik happy he’s getting more roles and zendaya was amazing as a success hungry coach who ultimately I think loved tennis more than both of them who knew tennis could be like a relationship loved the reaction also happy birthday Bryce hope you had an amazing one you deserve it 🎉🎉❤
Patrick’s arm bruises are from his argument the night before with Tashi when she grabbed his arm in the car. A pro tennis player couldn’t be on recreational drugs. They get tested all the time for PEDs and all fun drugs are banned too.
Yea it’s usually in the hair that makes em young and wild lmao, but at least they didn’t put glasses on em plus zendaya will realistically still look the same at 31 let’s be real so the hair being short is kinda accurate and a slay. Loving her blonde hair on press as well, she quite literally serving looks lol
Art is the villain. Him and Patrick always share things, even when Patrick is doing most of the work like the first game. He didn’t mind because that arrangement works for the both of them. Remember when Art asked Patrick to lose the game and he didn’t mind. Until real stakes, where they can’t “share” like a date with Tashi was on the line, you can see during their first game against each other, how incapable Art really is by himself. When he got with Tashi, only because Patrick lost her, he became better at tennis with Tashi help still, not by himself. Tashi loves but resents him for being a loser. Patrick loves him despite being a loser. Art is a selfish loser who wants more than he is capable of earning by himself. If they all accepted this sooner, they would work perfectly as a throuple… but it got delayed because of the selfish loser.
I dunno if you guys saw Past Lives when it came out, but it was written and directed by Celine Song, who is married to the guy who wrote Challengers, and both movies are about complicated love triangle type relationships 👀 Worth checking out for that reason alone, but even without that, still a really great movie in its own right (completely different tone tho)
This is why it's cool to watch reactions because you always figure something out. I was struggling to figure out how this movie made me feel but when he said, "Uncut Gems" that is _exactly_ how this made me feel! I love it even more now because I can definitely reference that feeling. Uncut Gems made me feel like I needed to go back to my college and xanax days. This movie gave me an incredible rush as well. I wasn't a big Zendaya fan before this but I've been binging her interviews ever since. Huge fan. I hope she produces more movies like this
so crazy that the shots of art looking at tashi are so unmoving and intentional during the flashbacks, but that one scene in the locker room just had the camera catching glimpses of her, like he can't stand to look at her when she's disappointed. Also, PLEASE react to bones and all, by this same director. It's so different but the vibes are still there.
I've been hoping that you guys would react to this one soon bc it's ALL I've been able to think about since it got released, and you didn't let me down 😂 I've rewatched it so many times now and even though I KNOW that these characters do some awful things, I kind of love them all at the same time? They're just so morally gray and nuanced...and I LOVE their dynamics with one another. They're so, so interesting especially when it comes to how their relationships shift as the film goes on. There's so much you get analyse and pick apart with every rewatch. It's interesting to me bc I've never looked at Patrick as 'evil' or wrong for what he does at the end (even though I know that tends to be a common reaction for a lot of people). I don't think what he reveals ever comes from a place of malice, but instead from a place of wanting to light that fire up in Art again. He's always just wanted to find his connection and way back to Art (and Tashi) again. He knows that it'll get a rise out of Art and make him play to his full potential. Even Art recognises it too when they both smile at each other in the end. They've both missed each other all this time, and Tashi FINALLY gets to see that good fucking tennis that she's been craving since they were teenagers (and esp since her injury). I'm such a throuple enthusiast with this one bc their dynamic is the most exciting to me when they're all together for sure. Also totally agree with Bryce about Josh O'Connor!! I've been a fan of his for years, but I've grown to love him even more since Challengers. He really is just incredibly charismatic and so talented as an actor. I felt the same way every time Patrick smiled too. Every single role that I've seen him in has been so vastly different from the previous one (and so different to what he seems like irl). Just so excited to see him in more things :)
Aside from Patrick’s inability to be serious other than when he’s with Tashi he really can see her for who she is and he cares for art so obviously he doesn’t see them being a fit and could care less that art “stole” her since he knew what he was doing and wants to be his friend again
We all saw that the beds were pushed together BEFORE she showed up to their room, right???? These boys are in love with each other and her. Lost little poly babes trying to be monog 💔
Literally been anticipating this for the past seven months before it came out as well esp with the strike and everything but happy I got to see it in theaters for it was a great cinematic experience and I’m happy you guys reacted to it, 8.5/9 stars for me tbh
I love how we kept seeing Rob and Bryce staring at Zendaya’s butt during the bed scene and then they both admitted it right after lmao at least they’re honest

Bryce picking it as a bday movie is honestly great, I love this movie. Bizarre soundtrack but still pretty great
I loved the soundtrack! Trent Reznor has made some of my favorites, including Gone Girl.
@@lisasu7094 I liked maybe two songs, one included in the trailer and the music that played when art started dominating the court at the end
If they all accepted this sooner, they would work perfectly as a throuple… but it got delayed because of the selfish loser.
they all need each other! it doesn’t work with just two
I dunno if you guys saw Past Lives when it came out, but it was written and directed by Celine Song, who is married to the guy who wrote Challengers, and both movies are about complicated love triangle type relationships 👀 Worth checking out for that reason alone, but even without that, still a really great movie in its own right (completely different tone tho)
My take was that at the end they all loved each other and that tennis was what brought them all together
they aren't fire and ice. they're spark and kindling and she's the fuel that keeps them going
Rob’s Paul Mescal shirt LOLLL hes so real
current fav movie!!! so glad you guys are reacting to all my fav things. good bday pick bryce, HAPPY BDAYYY!!!!!!!
The soundtrack of this movie is fire
This is why it's cool to watch reactions because you always figure something out. I was struggling to figure out how this movie made me feel but when he said, "Uncut Gems" that is _exactly_ how this made me feel! I love it even more now because I can definitely reference that feeling. Uncut Gems made me feel like I needed to go back to my college and xanax days. This movie gave me an incredible rush as well. I wasn't a big Zendaya fan before this but I've been binging her interviews ever since. Huge fan. I hope she produces more movies like this
Tashi’s also the ball going back and forth between Patrick and art
so crazy that the shots of art looking at tashi are so unmoving and intentional during the flashbacks, but that one scene in the locker room just had the camera catching glimpses of her, like he can't stand to look at her when she's disappointed.
Also, PLEASE react to bones and all, by this same director. It's so different but the vibes are still there.
I've been hoping that you guys would react to this one soon bc it's ALL I've been able to think about since it got released, and you didn't let me down 😂
I've rewatched it so many times now and even though I KNOW that these characters do some awful things, I kind of love them all at the same time?
Just so excited to see him in more things :)
saw this movie in theaters 3x and loved it even more each time.
Art is so fucking hot !
Patrick likes art and tashi. Art doesn’t quite accept the feelings he has for Patrick and tashi likes tennis😂😊
she screams at the end because she won
Happy belated birthday, Bryce!!! Excited to watch this reaction! I haven't watched the movie yet.
You guys need to react Call me by you name by the same director
lmao @ the simultaneous blinks between bryce and rob 🤣😭
The 1900s?? I’ve never felt older!
For real we are all sooo old 😢😂
I don't know how you guys take suggestions but another film that will make you guys feel this way is Shiva Baby. Please check it out 🙏
Aside from Patrick’s inability to be serious other than when he’s with Tashi he really can see her for who she is and he cares for art so obviously he doesn’t see them being a fit and could care less that art “stole” her since he knew what he was doing and wants to be his friend again
So sad you guys cut the car scene where Pat and Tashi goes back and forth calling each other stupid, it's hilarious
28:32 im actually so weak 😭
I second Rob. Zendaya is everyone’s type.
Happy birthday Bryce!
We all saw that the beds were pushed together BEFORE she showed up to their room, right???? These boys are in love with each other and her. Lost little poly babes trying to be monog 💔
YAYYYY this movie changed me lmfaooo i luv luca 🩷 and happy birthday bryce 🩷
The score is brilliant
I’m so glad we get to see you guys react to this 🙏
In the beginning of the movie Tasha said “you can beat him”. She wasn’t wrong
Patrick and Art some freak ass 🥷🏿s💀
Literally been anticipating this for the past seven months before it came out as well esp with the strike and everything but happy I got to see it in theaters for it was a great cinematic experience and I’m happy you guys reacted to it, 8.5/9 stars for me tbh
I love how we kept seeing Rob and Bryce staring at Zendaya’s butt during the bed scene and then they both admitted it right after lmao at least they’re honest
Your posters tripled the last time I watch your video, so random but so interesting. Taste ❤
My first reaction where the guys had the proper reaction to that Zendaya scene.. lol
Happy Birthday Bryce! This movie is so good!
Happy Birthday to Bryce, hope you have great birthday.
Yea the time jumps are crazy, I keep thinking twenty years but it’s only thirteen which makes em 31 like Tashi mentioned to Patrick ofc
This movie gave me eerie vibes. Like idk am I off
ALL SHE WANTED WAS TO SEE GOOD TENNIS
Love how the thumbnail is behind the scenes lol
I thoroughly recommend y'all check out "God's Own Country" as a reaction for one of Josh O'Connor's greatest performances. Truly its a superb film.
Dang you guys kept in Josh screaming “let’s go” but not zendaya’s infamous scream in her first match😭
Why are you commenting SO MUCH? Put in a paragraph at this point jesus christ.
@@salliejones6002 lmfao you text in paragraphs don’t you? Better you stfu and go ghost instead
tashi didn’t love any of them she was the most manipulative if we’re being honest.
Nah, it's the ligament from kneecap to femur/tibia etc. I snapped mine in middle school.
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE THANK YOU GUYS ILY
My reaction to you watching this movie: AHHHHHHHHHHHHGDFHGJ 🤭

Hey, guys ! The first BL I ever saw was gameboys ! It was great and very different from gay stereotypes from the west.
