Recycling Aluminum Heads, Alternators, Elec. Motors, Starters, Scrap Copper with a Hammer Mill

  • We now have our 32"x24" hammer mill up and running for processing scrap metal. We have had lots of requests for larger scrap metal material to be processed through one of our hammer mills. We crushed: cast aluminum valve covers, alternators and starters, transformers, copper meat balls, electric motors, and full sized aluminum heads! The hammer mill did a great job of size reduction and breaking them into smaller pieces for further processing. For more information on our hammer mills/scrap metal crushers give us a call or email:

    Tyler Davis-
    Thanks for the comment and compliment. Hammer mills are great machines.

      LOLz!!!!! It took me a second to get the joke until I read it in my head. I want a huge pair of gold pants to dance in . Hammer time! Or better yet have jason wear them while he raps to recycling.

    I love the Hammer Mill, it's my favorite type of size reduction machinery.

    Looks like the hammer mill is a smashing idea. The stuff has a crushing experience and feels all broken up.

    What is the value of a machine like this and, how you clean the material once it is crushed?

    Hey guys long time no chat. Have you ever run windaw ac unit compressors through your hammermill? currious what the final product would be?

    • @mbmmllc
      @mbmmllc  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Jaon T We haven't run any window ac units yet, but I will add it to the list. Thanks for the suggestion.

      When the sealed unit becomes unsealed you will have oil everywhere and the freeon is still illegal to release in the air, supposed to be sucked up through manifold gages and into a tank. I have dishonest repair shops such the free one out of people cars in the winter then sell it back to them come summer. A bottle of that costs 120$USD.

    I'll take two of those! What a job - you get to tear stuff up LOL. Is the screen size changeable on the smaller mills or is it one size only? Great video man.

    • @mbmmllc
      @mbmmllc  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      jdeluisa Its super fun to throw different stuff down the hammer mill! The screen in the smaller mills is changeable and can be done in about 5-10 minutes by hand. The screen in this 32"x24" is welded in and weights over 800 lbs so its a chore to change the screen in this size hammer mill, but could be done.

    So how is the material efficiently separated after its ran through the hammer mill? I know you probably use magnets to a certain extent but then aren't the copper windings wrapped in with the steel?

    • @mbmmllc
      @mbmmllc  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      zackcat276 Hi and thanks for the comment. The magnet works great for separating the steel and aluminum. For the electric motors it is best to pull the stators out first so all you have is copper and steel. Once the stators have been run through a large hammer mill and screen then they can be further milled using a smaller 3/8" screen which fully separates the steel and copper and then can be separated using a magnet. Here is a great video showing the results with one of our smaller mills: th-cam.com/video/x9bePfg5KqQ/w-d-xo.html
      Thanks again for the comment and question!

    I BET THOSE ELECTRIC MOTORS DULL THOSE HAMMERS FAST,CAN YOU IMAGINE HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE TO SHREDD A 40,000 LB LOAD AT THAT RATE? LOOKS LIGHT DUTY TOY NOT A MACHINE THAT YOU COULD MAKE A LIVING WITH.

    • @mbmmllc

      Bill Stokes Hi Bill. Thanks for the concern about the hammers. Because the hammers are crushing material and not abrading material the hammers last a very long time in a scrap metal application. We have reports of customers running over 20,000 lbs of electric motor stators and transformers with very little wear on the hammers, the life of a set of hammers in this application will be well over 100,000 lbs. The type of metal will also dictate the life span of the hammers, but most customers are running softer metals such as aluminum, copper, and thin steel plates (stators and transformers). Thanks for the comment

      I think the machines real purpose is assaying gold mines. Find out if a claim is worth bringing in the big trucks.

    how long do these teeth in the hammer mill expect to last with steady work on irony aluminum

    • @mbmmllc
      @mbmmllc  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Negativecreep0 These hammers will last for months before needing to be replaced. The hammers in these larger mills are for impact and not grinding like our smaller ore mills. The aluminum is also a soft metal so it doesn't abrade the hammers. We keep all hammers in stock for replacement, too. Thanks for the questions.

      poosmate Thanks! I am glad you liked it. Probably for most of our videos you should have your ear plugs ready, LOL. We don't do shredders currently, but we are looking into it. We have so much R&D to do its mind boggling!

    Sure it makes short work of those engine parts but will make short work of my ex-wife who has custody of the kids? She's about 5'7 130 lbs should fit if we take the bend out. Wouldn't even need the shaker table as she no longer has any fines left in her, let alone values in the #1 cons. I bet that machine is way cheaper then a divorce. Anyone here have any luck with this at home? Shhhhh, I won't tell but don't type your last name just in case. You see all those idiots getting caught because they didn't clear their search history. I know a button you can press and it deletes all that stuff. MWAHAHAHA
