okay. Question: What is the point of not using auto IFF? What is the point of not using the full range? I understand EMCON is a thing, but in dcs that's hardly relevant. I also understand that in real life if you have really a lot of aircraft being interrogated at the same time it can cause some interference and some of them might be reporting back the wrong IFF. Is that a thing in DCS? If it is a thing will a bad iff report be fixed by subsequent IFFs or perhaps more importantly will good IFF reports turn into hostiles?

How does your radar find contacts on 80 miles? Did they patch it in the meantime? My max. so far was 55 nm.

Yeh it's changed since I recorded this.

I can not think of any reason to use any other setting than 140 degrees and 100 miles. There may be a tactical reason in the real world, but not sure there would be in DCS. It's not like it gives you away or anything like that. If your radar is emitting everyone in the area will know you are there. And it does not seem to affect the detection time like adjusting radar sweep patterns can. Maybe I am missing something?

@@JSRJS most of the time you will be looking at this stuff way out well past weapons range. So, time would not ve an issue. Maybe if you get jumped from aircraft using terrain masking? But, in that case you will probably know they are hostile from them shooting way before IFF is even thought about.

Do you have to have that page up for it to function or can you set it and then bring up a stores page there for example and still get the IFF info on your primary radar screen?
