I started watching these videos because I simply wanted an explanation of some element of fighter plane HUD behaviour seen in movies and more arcadey video games and your videos are more visually descriptive than anything about real planes. I finally found the answer, it's the heat sensor on the missile rotating to face the radar track. Thank you so much.
This is great stuff! It makes learning DCS much much easier.. I have friends who gave up on DCS coz itss too steep because of all Aviation and Avionics stuff they still need to learn to be good at it!

Thank you for your AWEsome tutorials!! I have a question, you cage - uncage for both modes of firing the sidewinder. I understand. In the beginning, you also show the undesignate button. Can I be correct in noticing you are not using it? When do you use it? I have been looking on how to move on to the next target for Amraam/sidewinder when you fired them. It seems that you can do that by caging and aiming the missile on another target? Do Amraam work the same way?
hey bro, from what I know the undesignate button is used to stop tracking the selected target. Like if you accidently lock onto a teammate you can use the undesignate button (nosewheel steer button) to cancel your lock and pick out your desired target.

Hey do you know if you can uncage your heat seakers to track your helmet cam vision to fire in turns like on vtol vr?
