    Linnunrata used to be my favorite coaster, since they added the VR almost all of the old theming has been removed. The rooms were filled with luminescent starscapes that looked amazing in the darkness, but now its almost all black since its no longer maintained. Almost none of it remains.

      Yeah, that sucks! I liked the cool visuals without VR.

    • @kamo-chan4916
      @kamo-chan4916 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      MentalEdge its actually not removed. I was there like a month ago and the vr was removed because of corona and lets be honest it wasn’t that nice. I think that the vr made it better but it isn’t that amazing either so... yeah..

    • @MentalEdge
      @MentalEdge 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@kamo-chan4916 You were always able to ride it without VR. What is not removed? Did you ride it in it's prime? The theming is almost entirely gone on the ride itself in comparison.

    • @TheDivineRhythm
      @TheDivineRhythm 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      There's definitely much less theming in there after the VR was added. I've easily rode it over a hundred times over the years before the VR was added, so its a downgrade nowadays as the VR isn't even used. To me the VR ruined the coaster, used to be a nice go-to with short lines, but as the ride crew need to make sure everyone is good with their sets, it takes forever to dispatch a train. I remember always losing my shit with the awesome launch countdown too when I was younger, which has also been removed.

      now that we have a pandemic the vr glasses are gone and all the stars, planets, etc are back! i enjoyed it a lot more like that too :)

    I know I’m late to this party but dude, you make me want to expand my theme park horizons. European theme parks have a charm that a lot of US parks lack. In my opinion, the only one on the same level (that I’ve actually been to) is Knotts

    • @MarcusDET

    I agree, the right music adds so much to the"feel" of a park. A few weeks agi was our first visit to Walibi Holland and we all loved the Electro Music all over the park. It just fits the park, even if you are not a big fan of that type of music.

    Love your video Shawn! I'm from Finland and i do really love our parks. I think it's fantastic that you open the doors for other people outside Finland and show them one of our parks! I really do think that Linnanmäki has potential to be one of the most beautiful parks in Europe! Kiitos for a fantastic vlog💪🏼!

    • @earllarrabee7026
      @earllarrabee7026 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Honestly, Linnanmäkiis one of the most charming parks I have seen anywhere. I live in the United States and nearly all of our parks have a very corporate feeling to them. At Linnanmäki however, there is so much care and attention given throughout down to even the smallest of details. This park also does an amazing job of utilizing every available space to its maximum potential. There are multiple layers of attractions and there real sense of exploration going on . Shawn's vlog does a great job of revealing just how much there is to do and see. As the day progresses he discovers more and more rides and attractions he didn't notice previously. That kind of thing doesn't really happen at parks in the United States. Parks here may place 4 or 5 rides along broad straightforward paths in a 25 acre area whereas at Linnanmäki there are 12 attractions cleverly placed with more intimate paths interacting and weaving throughout. There are so many unique spaces and areas that you cannot find at other parks.

    Taiga looked amazing. So much longer and more to it than what it looks like. Love the ground hugs and interaction with other ride(s).
    Great park, but yeah, it do need audio. Some ambient just for the atmosphere would do nicely.

    Taiga looks incredible. Overall though Linnanmäki looks incredible. This park is dripping with charm...lots of little details stand out to me, simple pointless ones like the thick vines entirely covering one of the support structures on the main walkway. The variation and uniqueness of the fences for the que lines, the eagle footprints in the concrete, all these little inexpensive things really make this park remarkable. The fact that the park's profits go towards a charitable cause speaks volumes. can anyone think of any other theme parks in the world that do this?
    Just in general there is alot going on. I am also quite impressed with just how many rides they were able to fit in that space and how well those rides are maintained. There is so much thought and care throughout. and wow, is park packed full of actors/actresses for the halloween season. Even the small scare attractions have actors jumping out at you in nearly every room. I don't think I have seen any other park staffed with that many people for each scare attraction. It is just another example of how much care is put into his park.
    I will say though that I am very surprised about the audio. It seems like this park, of all places, would have music playing throughout. Regardless, I am quite impressed with Linnanmäki

    heres a couple recommends if you plan on coming to Finland again:
    1. Särkänniemi: it’s an amusement park in a city called Tampere, a little bit northern from Helsinki, you can easily catch a train there.
    2. Powerpark: This is way more northern than Helsinki, but if you get a chance to go there, its defintetly worth a go. They have some amazing stuff there, such as the rollercoaster named Junker

Back when I was a kid Blackpool PB would be open till 10pm - plus it was free entry. Used to love walking around and soaking up the atmosphere in the dark evenings. It was loads of fun even if you didn't go on anything. Would love to see more late night riding events next year, now that I've got my season pass for 2020!

      The city of Helsinki has a lot of rules for the aesthetic image of Linnanmäki in the middle of the city, so that the park fits in with the rest of the surrounding areas better. Blue is a cool neutral color, red track etc. would create too much contrast with other surrounding buildings.

    Glad to say that due to corona the vr on linnunrata (the indoor coaster) was temporarily removed (has been so for 2 years now) but when i went for a visit a couple days ago they had put all the theming back into linnunrata. Spoiler its super good like it used to be before vr i don't really enjoy vr coasters and i hope they wont remove the theming even after corona! Also i went there for the festival of light and this year was actually the wooden coaster 70 birthday. They did an epic pyroshow for it and it was very good. All the lights very also amazing in the dark.

    Saying the park gives all proceeds to charity too then say that you got a free ticket...... probably wasn't the best idea shawn 😂🙈
    Great video though!

      Thanks for watching! When I contacted the park they offered a free wristband which was very kind of them. Throughout the day I purchased quite a few items to help support the park and the fantastic meaning behind it!

      @@TheMrdominator1997 Definitely not the cheapest one out there, its 42€ for the wristband. Its been progressively going up due to rising costs, but they've also gotten more and more rides, Taiga being the new star of the park now.

      @@ThemeParkWorldwide mate you don't have to justify yourself to people, you give great exposure e to parks most people never even heard of. You do you

      @@TheMrdominator1997 I don't think Shawn should feel obligated to donate the earnings because of the free park entry. This Vlog will provide a ton of exposure for both the Park and charity. They know what they're doing, they wouldn't have offered otherwise.

    I am wondering if European parks should adopt more of these park hours until midnight especially for night rides and scare events . I wonder where zardra and tigra are on your top 20 or 10 shawn

    What a lovely little amusement park. Did you ever get to do the Mack E-motion coaster in the Dungeons at Amsterdam? “Reaper, Drop ride to doom!” It was very short, but loved the setting inside a church!

    20.17 it looks like the coaster in the background has no track and its jumping through the air lol, just to the left of your head, then a few seconds later to the right of your head, looks crazy haha

    Linnanmäki has an IMAscore general soundtrack for the area but it is weird that they wouldn't be playing any audio because of the horror event, especially since I recall in past horror events they have played audio?
    (sidenote: the enterprise isn't actually HUSS, it's made by Emiliana Lunapark)
