Daggum, it looks so naked! Great job setting it up for the next growing season, Xin. Your winter indoor update was pretty slick. I’m diggin it, brother.
Yes I checked the tree just now and I can still chop the right and use the left. I will give it some time and see if anything grows from the left hard prune point. I may switch leaders later, thanks Jay 👍🙏
@@MaybeBonsai I just saw the opportunity to increase the taper and get rid old that straight part. It’s always easier to decide when you don’t own the tree… when you own it your emotions and all the care you put into growing that leader gets in the way of your brain. 🤣😂🐦💙
@@BlueJayBonsai I was thinking to have it as a major branch as the canopy would form not far from that height. But I could remove it which makes the tree smaller and I can always grow another branch later.
I have a hibiscus over rock that had crappy roots too. I uncovered it after 6 months. Way to early. I recovered the roots now going to wait a year. So hard not to check though.
The ficus roots grow fast but just not good looking haha I hope with the tree being much smaller, it may change my perception on the roots, fingers crossed
Nice job! Love the lil tour Xin. The BEST root bases on a Benjamina I have found come from air layering it. Something to think about depending on how the roots look when you take your next look at them. You could airlayer a new base and then put that rooting system over a larger rock you like.
Those Ficus sure like to grow, the collection is looking good!!! Nice work Xin, the three branches on the Jade will be all you need I think!!
I hope so because I don’t think anything else will sprout haha. Thanks Nigel 👍
Hello Xin, I love that you have your financial priorities in order. Pay down your mortgage!!!! Yay. Then buy all the lights you want.
Yes I will have a lot more resources to play with once the mortgage is done lol
Spring will bring great results on this little tree. Nice updates.
Thanks Tom, I think the real winter is coming this week. All minus temperature and snow all week
Enjoying a great tutorial with a relaxing cup of tea.
Thanks Tom, stay warm 👍

Thanks Billy, I think real winter starts this week as we dip into freezing all day lol
nicely done. i see a great looking tree in the near future.☀️🤩☀️
Thanks Christopher, hopefully with better looking roots lol
You are so wonderful, wish you a new day full of joy and happiness. Always accompany and develop with you lk37
Thanks Cheers man 👍
Everything is looking good Xin!!
Thanks Joe, cheers man 👍🙏
Nice job Xin! I think I would have chopped of the right hand leader completely, and make that left branch the new leader. 🤔

@bluejaybonsai I observed the same opportunity brother. But you’re right, always easier to suggest the chop when it’s not your tree. Haha
Very well done. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks Bobcat, cheers man 👍🙏
Happy Lunar New Year, Xin!!! Year of the rabbit. Year of prosperity. 新春快乐,鑫。兔年 Xīnchūn kuàilè, xīn. Tù nián 繁荣之年 Fánróng zhī nián
hahaha thanks Tom, happy new lunar year to you too 🙏😄
Ficus Foist!

Yea that’s a good idea. Something I can have in my back pocket when I check on the roots next time 🙏👍
