It is very interesting to see the town of Susuman. My mother lived there for a long time and my grandfather worked there in a goldmine. I showed my mother the video and at 6:29 she recognized her house where she lived.
Thank you for the video! It gave my mother the ability to see the city how it looks like today, compared to 30 years ago she saw Susuman for the last time.

People don't understand the torture Dave went through to make this series. The coldest temperature I've been in was -33c (Which was 2 degrees warmer than the average high temperature there). I lasted 5 minutes outside, before the hair in my nose froze, & I had trouble breathing. Dave walks around all day, like it's no big deal!

As I am watching it it's -26C outside, yeah the face physically hurts, I barely survived 5 minutes

I remember Shalamov's book "Kolyma Tales" in which he describes a drive from one of the GULAG camps inland to Magadan (of course not inside the cab but on the open truck bed) and how he almost fainted because the closer they got to Magadan the warmer it became. Warmer meaning still below freezing but many degrees warmer than in the place from where he came. I am glad there are so many videos on Russia in youtube. This is country i would very much like to visit - even places like Vorkuta or Magadan.....sadly this probalby won't happen. The young gentleman presenting these videos did the right thing going there and he seems to speak Russian very well....

I am very impressed, reaching such distant regions by yourself, it is something amazing, brave, you are a fantastic person and your English is great. There are no better materials about Russia in the whole YT. Carry on with your passion. I would like to meet you when you someday organize a meeting for fans, interested. I will definitely come. Someday I would like to go by train to Murmansk, see the midnight sun, but we have to wait until the war is over. Russia is fascinating, the vastness of nature and culture.
I am from Spain and I have been living in Poland, and you've got a lot of interesting places so close. It´s sad because of the war and now it´s more complicated, but you can visit a lot of interesting places in Ukraine and Belarus, which are very cheap countries as well. But in Poland itself is amazing from someone who comes from the south of Europe.

I'm living in Palatka, 80km away from Magadan. I was at working trip in Susuman last December. There was -54°C so... Yeah, living here hits different xD

I just finished a book of a gulag survivor (Georg "Isaak" Hildebrandt") who has been to the Kolyma. I'm glad I found your video, so I could get a glimpse of what it's like up there. Just wow.
