You are going on my list of favorite sewing channels Delilah! I love your delivery, you are absolutely adorable! I am starting my channel very soon, I was meant to last week St. Patrick’s day, it was my birthday and I have something I want to show my sewing friends. Well it didn’t come yet and life had to go and happen to mess it up as well. I’ve been waiting to do the channel because if this life thing, and now I’m just going to go for it. I hope I am half as good as you, I’m not even kidding. I am glued to TH-cam most of my day and watch a lot of sewing, you are cuter than most. Funny, you’re sweet and funny, my favorite. I like your idea of modifying a tank dress. I have been kicking around some patterns from Mood, one is the Bellium. It’s too short though, so I have Joy Bernhardt in charge of figuring that one out for me haha, my other idea is Threads magazine has a Bohemian blouse how-to pattern free, I thought I would extend that just like you mentioned, and then cinch it with a scarf in the waist or maybe sling a hip chain belt. Idk we’ll see. I really think your top is adorable btw, actually both. The new look? it looks really crisp and nice in a good way, and converted sleeve is genius on the one you’re wearing! Don’t you dare say you can’t sew for yourself after that one! I’m going to dig something out and do it now while the idea is fresh👍Thanks so much for sharing and hopefully we will run into each other out there😍👼✂️🧵🪡👗
Thank. you for the compliments. can't wait for you to start your channel, sounds like you have a lot of great ideas, let me know when you have it up and running and Happy Late Birthday!
@@SimplyDelilah the other thing I’d like to point out-I enjoyed your tutorial immensely. You are so good at it, how did you figure out how to do it? I have so many hacks too, like yours but different. Did you watch videos to figure it out? I hope that isn’t too weird to ask. I’m trying to formulate a set up for filming. Thanks again. I did a post on IG yesterday or the day before I’m Sew Style 101. I’ll announce the channel start there. I’m giving away a pretty cool sewing gadget and some fabric too for my launch. Thanks for offering to check it out!
@@itssewxtra1713 I guess I just watched a bunch of sewing videos? i've never really thought about it...I like "withwendy" sewing channel..she is so cute and funny. I basically looked at channels/people I liked and asked myself what I like about it...what I like is seeing there personality and humor so i try to do that in my own videos by still being myself.. I also looked up tutorials on how to edit videos and I use imovie on my mac and my iphone to edit my movies. I also just use my iphone to film the videos. I followed you on instagram.
@@SimplyDelilah you know what? You are a tiny bit like Wendy, she’s awesome and doesn’t take herself too seriously except when necessary. You just really grabbed me with your best sewing blogger of 2021. I love that sort of thing, it’s totally my humor. I did a tiny edit on iMovie and I seem to remember it being harder than it was. I lived outside the US for nine years and when I got back I lost touch with my most of my friends. So this group of people are all really sweet and relatable so it’s been a lifesaver. I came back for my mom and she died, so sewing has really been my security blanket. I bet your daughter is quite amazing, I mean you are gorgeous and personality plus. It’s so lovely when they are little like that. My two are busy men. They are wonderful sons and stellar people, but oh those days were so yummy. Take care Delilah and have a great week. I’ll let you know if I end up making your patchwork pouch. I’ll put it on IG and tag you. 👍💎💯😉
@@itssewxtra1713 thank you so much..you are so kind...I just saw this comment otherwise I wouldnt' have taken so long to write back. wishing you the best!
The shirt is adorable.....ruffling the sleeves on the other one looks great.....thanks for showing the rolled hem foot I was on the fence concerning it but now going to purchase. Love your daughter's outfit.
Thank you so much as always for the shout out! You know, it's funny how many new-to-clothing sewers pick up New Look patterns. I find them hit or miss - sometimes they work, sometimes not. And calico cotton is tricky for tops and dresses like that one because just about the time you think it's perfect, it's not. I just had that happen with a retro dress I did! Your idea to shorten the top is a good one but if it's uncomfortable you probably won't wear it, so it might be just as well to use the fabric for a quilt. I love working with quilting cotton because it does exactly what you tell it! It's the goody-two-shoes of fabric. The dress for your daughter is adorable and your channel being the best? Well, yeah! Moms know everything! You're a mom, so you've got personal experience! 😁❤️
I love the shirt😍 I think making it a little shorter would be a great idea. Can't wait to see what you make for frugal frocks.. Idk if I want to do one yet? Lol Can't wait to see the quilt too❤
i also kept thinking may I wouldn't however now I can't wait to make one of those caftan's. You should look on pinterest...there are so many ideas and it looks so simple!
I just made that pattern recently. I made the sleeveless version from rayon. The bodice was short on me so it ended up being more of a cropped (waist) length. I wasn’t sure when I was making it if I’d like it, but in the end it looks very summery. I think I will try it again but definitely with a rayon or similar material with a lot of drape.
I’m glad I found your channel. I have the new look pattern you made. I believe if you used a fabric with more drape... I think you might be happier with the fit. I adore cotton fabrics... quilting cottons are awesome... but for some clothing pieces, you need a softer, lighter weight fabric. If you remake it...try a rayon challis or even a cotton voile. Hope you give it another try.
Pretty fabric for the New Look but I agree more drape would look better. Perhaps ties on the side to take in the extra volume. I decided to try the Bardon dress from Peppermint Magazine for frugal frocks. The bodice is printed but the skirt has an option to use measurements. Saved so much paper.
@@SimplyDelilah I haven't made it yet. I recently put all my patterns in Airtable, a free downloadable database, and now I'm much more familiar with what I have!

lol...thank you so much...yeah I already have the shirt in my scrap bin! i'm still learning about the different apparel fabrics out there.
I am making the same shirt, it is a high neck. I will probably change that too.
yes...it could definitely come down a few inches.

I have that children's pattern, too.
Do you like that pattern or have another to recommend for kids?

@@deebuettner8017 I need to look into those...thanks for the suggestions 😀
Fabric is too crisp, a little too heavy.
yes I agree...I should have made it with a rayon challis
