The reality is the land of North Macedonia(south Macedonia is in Greece) used to be part of the ancient Macedonia but the people currently living on it are Slavs that have nothing to do with the ancient Macedonians that where another Greek tribe from the ancient city states of ancient Greece. Of course after breaking from Yugoslavia this people needed something to feel good about themselves and their politicians suddenly decided to sell them the illusion that they are the descendants of Great Alexander with glorious past or something despite being slavs and use the fact that they live on ancient Macedonia land to call themselves Macedonia. kostas poko the ottomans found cyprus before the greeks. In WW1 the ottomans gave it to the british empire to save it and give it back at the end of the War but they gave it to the greeks. The ottomans lost cyprus because of the british empire and there lived so many ottomans/turks. In the 70s turkey went to cyprus and took the northern side to protect the turks. For me greeks and turks should be normal to each other.
The fact that after so many centuries of occupation by every big and diverse empire in Europe, the island maintain it's Greek routes, especially in terms of language which is the most alive and affected part of a country's culture, should be highlighted to anyone who supports turkish side interests. [P.S. To anyone who will say something about the Cypriot dialect, it should be noted that the Cypriot dialect it is far more near related to the original Ancient Greek language than the actual Modern Greek is.]
Not speaking a foreign language fluently does not make you "uneducated". Cyprus has no Turkish roots. All the cities that exist nowadays were founded by Cypriot-Greeks and Achaean-Greeks centuries and centuries before any Turks even arrive in Anatolia. Furthermore, Cyprus is an ancient greek name. From "κυειν - kyein" and "προοριζω - προοριζω" that describes the faculty of the ancient goddess of the island, Aphrodite. So the name Cypriot is suggesting that you are culturally Greek.
KoivuTheHab he just said that the etymology of the name is Greek, and that the islands Greek roots are still vibrant even though it went through many conquerors! Do you claim this to be wrong? Because spoiler alert* it isn't!
Cuprum and Copper derive from the name Kypros, not the opposite. Go learn about the ancient Cypro-Minoan and the later Mycenaean Cypriot Syllabary (Linear C) which derived from Linear A and B of Crete and Peloponnese. The name of Cyprus was given by the Mycenaean Greeks and it was first attested around 1500 BC in the Greek language written in Linear B. I don't claim that Turkish Cypriots don't exist but while they use a greek word to characterise themselves that makes them partly Greek culturally. Moreover, many of them have Greek roots because they were Greeks who converted to Islam in order to survive during the Ottoman period. I went to visit Keryneia a few years ago and many old Turkish Cypriots were talking in Greek to me. Arabic and British roots? The Arabs and the British were just invaders on this island they didn't create its cultural identity. lol The British used to rule in India and many other countries. That doesn't mean half the world is British lol
Let me explain it to you with simple words. We were colonised by England. Of course we are split and have 2 communities that hate each other, thats what they were doing everywhere the had a colony. Thanks England😍
A little light on history are we not, the British left in 58 the Turks invaded in 1974 as a Greek coup deposed the Cypriot government, EOKA B had indulged in the ethnic cleansing of the Turkish Cypriot population and one Nikos Sampson with Greek support tried to take over the country, so not quite sure how you can blame the British?
@@williamtraynor-kean7214 the Brits started everything. When EOKA started fighting, the British created the TNT in order to further divide the two communities in an attempt to regain control. If you actually think the UK did nothing you are dead wrong.

We ll not going to save humanity but at least we can save our humanity within ourselves. As @Lymbe06 said, nicely done. I can also add correctly to it. At least it was objective POV not sub. BTW, we don't have any friends as Cypriots. We have nations who tries to control us. Sometimes they can be friends, sometimes quite the opposite. @Margot Lymbery For example Assyrians never actually inhabited the island. A stela found in Kition of Cyprus commemorates the victory of king Sargon II in 709 BC over the seven kings in the land of Ia', in the district of Iadnana or Atnana. The former is supposedly the Assyrian name of the island, (the Island of the Danaoi (greeks)). The GreekCypriot kings were paying tribute to Assyria... continued to rule under Assyrian influence. Moreover there isn't any archaeological evidence depicting that the island was actually inhabited by Assyrian immigrants. The only cultures that had inhabited Cyprus were the so called "Eteo-Cypriots", the Greek-Cypriots and a small community of Phoenicians (in Kition).

ok thats really wrong on both ends. Cyprus being a part of EU doesn't mean they are Europeans (well they are tecnically, but not in European orgin vise) And Turkey DIDN'T CAME FROM THE MONGOLIAN EMPIRE. The place Turkic people (the race of the Turkish people) orginated from is Great Hun Empire (Hiung-un). Even if you could argue Mongolians also came from there because of the argument if Huns are Turk or Mongol (because its still debated), It makes It REALLY CLEAR that Mongols aren't related to TURKS a bit. There is no connection of them at all. And to add, the name Mao-tun is literally a mistranslation (because the only sources of the Huns were Chinese) of Mete Han. And makes it really clear that he is a TURK. not a mongol. For the Mongolian Empire I have no Idea what ur talking about. But from a simple google search it does say that "Turkish tribes like “Kipchak”s and Kyrgizs became a part of the Mongolian empire and formed an important component of the state.", so u may be talking about those turkic groups Also mind my English and If Im wrong on smt pls tell me

Because it is
its amazing and sad to see the Slavs pretending to be Greek. Propaganda is a very powerful tool even if the evidence are in front of you. Im glad that your country and most of the countries have historians that tell the truth
It is. That is why the supposed current one is called North Macedonia.
What the Greeks hated about the whole thing was that this was clearly an attempt to hijack history and claim laurels that weren't theirs but unfortunately you can't do much about what one wants to call themselves.

Andrea Stavrou like Pontiac dialect
Iridanos like Macedonian

Still we Cypriots "mostly" friendly and hate fighting. Thats why we never broke our relations with who casts scourge on us, helped us, killed us, divided or united us. Maybe being too good is our worst attribute but hey! Peace and humanity always wins!

Bad choice! Most of the facts on this video are wrong. I wouldn’t use this source for a school project.
@Universal Space Expeditioner They invaded the island and most Greek lands IN THE PAST... as they did in many countries. What’s your point?

@Universal Space Expeditioner I never read anything about this. But «

Cyprus is a member of the European Union, therefore Cypriots are Europeans.
Turkey was a member of the Mongolian Empire, therefore Turks are Asians from the deep Asian steppes of Mongolia.
ok thats really wrong on both ends.
Cyprus being a part of EU doesn't mean they are Europeans (well they are tecnically, but not in European orgin vise)
And Turkey DIDN'T CAME FROM THE MONGOLIAN EMPIRE.
But from a simple google search it does say that "Turkish tribes like “Kipchak”s and Kyrgizs became a part of the Mongolian empire and formed an important component of the state.", so u may be talking about those turkic groups

In 1959 Cypriots were asked if they wanted to join Greece and about 98% of the population said yes (even some Turks who had been living in Cyprus before 1974), but that couldn't happen, because of an agreement between the UK and Turkey
NeverGreen35 I just said that Turks were a lot less than now and that's it. I don't understand what you want to say. You didn't answer my question
