The term Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots was an innovation of the Turks and Brits
The truth is that the Lozane treaty was not implemented
So the citizens of Cyprus are Cypriots

      You don't believe it?
Not just Italian but also Frankish Crusaders are the ancestors of the so-called Turkish Cypriots. There are those who amongst the TC's claim to descend from the Lusignans.
Yes. These people were the erstwhile despots of Cyprus, Catholics who were dealt such a heavy blow in Cyprus that they lost their grip on the island, by the Ottomans. The Turks slayed many of their kin, but others begged the Ottomans to stay and converted to Islam. Amongst them were also the Arabic speaking Christian Catholics of lebanon, who were masters on the island along with the Venetians and Crusaders. They outwardly converted to İslam and took up the Turkish language in the 1950s. That's why they are unable to speak proper Turkish (aside from the TC elite).

Turkish Cypriots deserve to map out their own journey independent of our interference. We shouldn’t be offended by this. They are our people and we will always watch over them irrespective of their hubris. As a Turkish father of a half Greek Cypriot son, I certainly don’t dislike Greeks but also have no illusions on who they are, and more importantly who we are. Based on a lifetime of growing up around Greeks I say yes to friendly dialogue but no to coexisting. It won’t end well for the Turkish Cypriots but I believe it’s a lesson they need to learn themselves just like the Palestinians

There were ancient Hellenes such as the Hittites, Lydians, Bithynians, Sumerians, and ancient Egypt and they disappeared. Today's nation called Greece has nothing to do with the ancient Hellenes. This is just a distortion of Anglo-Saxon historians who used the Greeks to steal lands from the Turks.

In 1974, invoking its rights as a guarantor power under the 1960 Treaty of Guarantee, Turkey intervened in Cyprus following a Greek-backed coup aimed at annexing the island to Greece. Why? The intervention, which secured 37% of the island, was to protect Turkish Cypriot minorities from potential persecution. While this led to Cyprus’s division and mass displacements, it also established Northern Cyprus, recognized only by Turkey. History demonstrates that powerful alliances often suppress truth and justice, as seen in the 21st-century genocide in Palestine. Nations like Greece, Cyprus, the US, UK, France, Germany, Canada, Australia, and much of the EU are complicit in supporting such acts despite global condemnation. Ultimately, Turkey’s decisive action in 1974 was a bold and just response.

@@UNIPEXOWENI Its guarantor power of Cyprus had the right to intervene ONLY for protection of the legal status quo, and not for creating a new one by the force of a weapon! The so called ‘humanitarian’ reasons, peace operation and protection of the Turkish Cypriots have been proved totally hypocritical . If someone reads dr Davutoglou’s book ‘ the strategic depth’ can clearly understand why Turkey invaded Cyprus and what is their main goal even today!
      * by the way Turkey cooperated smoothly and quite loyal with Israel in Azerbaijan and Syria until now. How honest is this attitude towards Palestine (?)

  • @costaskarseras7876
    @costaskarseras7876 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

Your myth is wearing thin. No Greek Cypriots or Turkish Cypriots were involved in the Istanbul Pogrom. Often referred to as the “Kristallnacht in Constantinople,” the pogroms led to the looting or destruction of 71 churches, 41 schools, eight newspapers, more than 4,000 stores, and 2,000 residences in a single night. These attacks resulted in over 30 deaths, 300 injuries, and approximately 400 rapes. The violence was not only aimed at Greeks but also targeted Armenian and Jewish communities. The Turkish government's involvement in these atrocities was part of a broader strategy of ethnic cleansing, aimed at reducing the Greek minority in Istanbul along with other non-Muslim populations.
TMT, the Turkish Resistance Organization, deliberately created victims to serve its agenda. Rauf Denktaş himself admitted that these deaths were politically useful. Sevim Ulfet, the sister of one of the victims, testified that when she confronted Denktaş in the hospital, he responded coldly, "These dead people are useful to us. With them, we will make our voice heard in the world." This sentiment has been echoed by Mr. Tatar.
Denktash also revealed that two Turkish Cypriots planted a bomb to falsely blame Greek Cypriots. Turkish General Sabri Yirmibeşoğlu admitted that Turkish forces burned mosques to incite hostility towards Greeks in Cyprus. Kutlu Adalı, a Turkish Cypriot journalist and peace advocate, was murdered by the Grey Wolves on July 6, 1996, a clear example of how violence was used to suppress voices for peace.
Partition is not achieved when communities live and work together peacefully. It requires terrorism, strife, and mistrust to make people feel unsafe and divided. On May 24, 1958, in a predominantly Turkish Cypriot area of Nicosia, Fazil Ontour was murdered by TMT, which also admitted to the attempted murder of Ahmet Sadin and his wife.
Ahmet Giahgia, only 26 years old, was murdered on May 29, 1958, while asleep. On June 30, 1958, TMT terrorists in Limassol killed Ahmet Ibrahim, aged 46, because he supported peaceful coexistence between the two communities. On July 4, 1958, another murder attempt was made against 29-year-old Arif Halousi Parouti in the Limassol marketplace by TMT terrorists.
The publishers of 'Cumhuriyet,' lawyers Aihan Mustafa Hikmet and Ahmet Muzaffer Gurkan, were both murdered on the night of April 23, 1962. Similarly, on April 11, 1965, Dervis Kavazoglou, a Turkish Cypriot, and Costas Misiaoulis, a Greek Cypriot, were killed together in their car by members of TMT. Kavazoglou spoke truthfully about the violence:
"They have managed to drive the young people of Cyprus, Greeks and Turks, to fight and kill each other. Only yesterday they were working together in workshops, offices, and mines, ploughing the same earth to provide bread for their families. They have created the myth and the lie that it is impossible for the two communities to coexist in peace. They drove 20,000 Turks out of their homes and put them in places like concentration camps, laying the groundwork for partition."
Mr. Tatar's demands for "sovereign equality and our equal international status" go against international norms and the EU. Even Turkey, when dealing with its own 22 million Kurdish population, has refused to accept the kind of solution that Tatar demands and has been involved in a decades-long bloody conflict. Erdogan's war against the Kurds has so far cost more than 55,000 Turkish and Kurdish lives.

Why the Turkish occupation forces are still in the island and why they keep sending new uneducated muslim settlers from Turkey?

Of course, this is the story of the Turkish side. As in all stories, there are multiple versions each and everyone presenting the version that best serves their interests.
The fact remains that the island is divided by force of arms.
Former friends and even relatives turned against each other, due to their naivety, lack of realism, and comprehension of the dynamics of the geostratical implications of the powers involved in the region.
As the narration says Turkey was reluctant to get involved when the issue was brought before the UN so Greece was. The narration goes on to say EOKA was targeting Turkish Cypriots which is false. EOKA was targeting the British occupation forces and the collaborators Greeks and/or Turkish Cypriots.
All in all an unbiased conclusion can not be reached listening to only one sided story. Examining the Cyprus problem one can not avoid immersing oneself in the passions of the era and getting lost in the myriad and in many cases immaterial details.
However, one can dismiss the reality that Cyprus and its people (no matter who they are) are hostages of the geostrategic location of the island.
As the British PM McMillan once said, " Cyprus can never be fully independent". Along this line without much work of the brain cells, Cyprus can never be left in the hands of anyone who can potentially threaten the interests of the powers controlling the region. This excludes both Turkey and Greece.
But! And here is the big BUT. The present situation of constant friction between Turkey and Greece serves the interests of the aforementioned powers controlling or aspiring to control the region. Friction on the unsinkable air carrier (as the Americans said) does not serve the best interests of the Cypriots, Greeks, and Turks alike.

Turkish Cypriots were not always called Turkish Cypriots. Previously they were known under a different name, but originally they were called "Venetians", and built the magnificent structures on the island, including the citadel, the large cathedral, and most of the historical buildings around this accursed island.
Having invested so much in it, they were loathe to leave it all behind. Most of them were slaughtered and many were exiled back to Venice, but a minority remained on the island and outwardly converted to Islam in order to preserve their high status.
This went on, and many of the Arabic speaking Catholics they imported from Lebanon to be their footstools also converted to Islam and these Catholics, these remnants of the Crusaders, turned towards the Ottoman Empire. Being converts of convenience, Greeks hated them, Turks did not trust them, and so, they became poorer than the Greeks, but could not reconvert to Catholicism because that meant certain death for them.
Therefore, when the British came to the Island, these crypto-catholics became ecstatic. As Catholicism had little sway on the island, except for marginal numbers of Maronites, many of them converted to Orthodoxy and joined the Greeks, but at some point the Greek Church had it with these two faced snakes. Those who couldn't reconvert as having being rejected by the Orthodox church, retained their superficial islamic association, and worked closely with the British, as they did with the Ottomans, prior. As they were nominally indistinguishable from Orthodox Greeks, as they often masqueraded as Orthodox Greeks to avoid conscription by the Ottomans, they needed a new identity.

    • @azmhyr
      @azmhyr 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@pedro190606
But "Muslim" as an identity was not enough, because it was simply not true, they were not Muslim, they did not pray, nor did they have the slightest knowledge of Muslim rituals. So they begged the British to allow them to masquerade as Turks. So the British sent for teachers from Turkey, who arrived in 1950, and taught these crypto-catholics Turkish. Many of them also went to Turkey to study there, and came back with ideas that allowed them to more efficiently fool Turkey, they spread word of a mysterious Turkish element, unknown to the Turks in Turkey, in Cyprus. Most Turks never even heard of Cyprus until then.
Than, Turkey, which, back then, did not wish to involve itself in matters outside of her borders, was forcibly tied to these liars, who called themselves Turkish Cypriots now. We were forced to become their guarantors in a state where the Greeks were bereft of their God given right to unite with Greece. The Turkish Cypriots, then became equals with the Greek Cypriots, equal vote with the Greeks meant they could veto whatever they wanted. Eventually the Greeks had it with their crap.
Then the Turkish Cypriots began attacking the Greeks, and spread lies of death and fear, eventually our public, with their bleeding heart, protested that Turkey should save our brethren on Cyprus. The Turkish Cypriots regularly cajoled Turkey to invade, and they began ripping us off of weapons.

Lastly, when the Greek junta took over, they had their chance. The first invasion was based on a shaky legal ground (even though the treaty of guarantee never mentions military action, mind you), the second was not. But it was the TC's who demanded the second, so they could steal the rich, northern lands from the Greeks. Now they sit on those lands, and will become rich beyond measure once it gets integrated into the RoC. They will benefit from massive investment, and handouts, they will bleed the EU and the Greeks dry.
They orchestrated the entire event, and they stand to gain from the most of it! The Greeks will always lose, the TC's will, whatever happens, always gain.
