Thanks for the shout out for my blog. This a great video to help get the aux working in everyone’s Interceptors. 🎉 I’ve dug through the wiring diagrams and have not found any indication that you can link up or provide power to a usb port with our stock PIU radio. I have the stock console with the aux and usb ports so I’ve just wired those up aux to radio and usb to its own power source so it’s a charge port only.
Thank you so much. This video and instructions were very helpful. I was able to get my aux line installed and activated. I pre-connected my wires and pins in the house first because it is currently very cold outside. It was great because when I got to the installation in the car, it was straight forward and very smooth. Thanks again. 🙏🏾
Excellent video! I am sure you tested the setup before putting all back together. Also, the fuse box you set up looks really neat. I am doing my set up a little diffidently. I purchased a portable stereo (a cheap one, so i have some doubts how long it will last). I will mount it on top of that police tray you made a video about. This stereo doesn’t play radio, but it came with a backup camera, a CarPlay, and a microphone. I wired the camera when I was replacing the headliner. The sound from my phone is coming right now from the car speakers via a radio wave broadcasted by the stereo. It sounds ok. I need to set it up through stereo Bluetooth (so, I would need your design for Bluetooth), or through an aux wire from the stereo to the radio. I have the aux port on my new-to-me console (with no USB), so I will need to do the similar gymnastics that you showed with wiring AUX to the radio and activating AUX with forscan. I hope that AUX or Bluetooth will sound a bit better than the sound through the radio wave. But overall, I am content.
Hey thanks for sharing this video I’ve personally benefited from your other videos for the piu but imo this one is a really long tedious process when instead you can just buy a Bluetooth FM transmitter and it acts exactly the same as this Bluetooth It’s a great how to for the aux tho
Any chance you could answer this question. I have a 2013 police utility. If turn the volume up past 8 it’s makes a weird noise then the sound cuts out completely. But the radio screen is still lit up so it has power but just no sound
Nice video. Ford's system really does suck... it's all proprietary and nearly impossible to simply install a nice aftermarket receiver. I was really disappointed because I wanted to install a subwoofer, but the 4in system doesn't have a sub audio out port on the radio.
I'm in the process of adding a sub to my 2013 explorer. You can use a line output converter (LOC) like the lc2i pro to tap into the full range speaker outputs on the radio wiring harness, then it will 'convert' to give you an RCA pre-amp output for a sub amp or speaker amp. Lots of youtube videos on line output converters, hope this helps.
Apparently my PIU came without a control console so the guy bought an aftermarket one that plugged in and worked. Thoughts only finding and installing the OEM one?😂
Hello. My 2017 PIU has SYNC2. Mayeb you can give me a tip about an issue about bluetooth not outputting audio. Someone installed it before I got the vehicle. Is a MyLincoln Touch. Radio FM, AM work great. Bluetooth connects, song names show on screen, changing songs work fine. Issue is, I have not found a way of making the Bluetooh output sound. There is no way of doing that. Call are recieved well, but I cant listen to any sounds from it. Songs play, but no sound output at all. I'm thiking is something about software, because it shows speakrs do receive information from the SYNC2 as FM and AM work fine. Any ideas?
I am currently learning and duplicating your setup for my 16 PI, I wanted to use my existing cigarette plugs, but somehow I blew a fuse now I have one, and my fuse box doesn't have a cover, could you point out wich fuses pertaining to the 2 cigarette lighters .
So here is my question. I have the 2015 police interceptor sedan. I have a vertical blanking plate that's just to the right of the trim that you see next to the number pad. It looks like it definitely could have the stacked USB with aux port underneath it. I have been looking at prices and so far for that switch that has both the aux and the USB port in it the lowest price I can find is $55 which I think is stupidly expensive. I will have to figure out how to use fore-scan and get a computer that can run it that is a complete whole other battle and if you have any information on that or a video you've already done you can link me to I would be extremely thankful. I don't know what it is about the cars, but 93% of the information that I have found on TH-cam or forums is unorganized and inaccurate. Any advice you can give me besides what's in this video all I want to do is be able to have aux and USB run into the radio I don't care if it is active USB or if it is just for charging (Bluetooth would be nice but not necessary). Ideally i would love if it could read information but if not that's fine. Also, if you have any recommendations on where I can get a better center console than the generic one that I have that would be great the generic one that I have has a basic storage compartment and then two size cup holders but still leaves about a foot and a half in between the front of the cup holders and where the dash begins. It looks nice but the cup holder sizes are useless and the storage pocket is too big and it's hard to reach back to. Going to do all of this for as cheap as possible. I don't care if I have to put a few hours of work into redoing the dash the center console and pulling out the unit to do wiring that stuff doesn't scare me. Sorry for the entire wall of text.lol If you look at aftermarket options for these cars at least in my experience I can't find an aftermarket head unit that will allow you to retain the controls of the air conditioning and heating panel that you see beneath the large D pad in the center. Deep police officer you just earned yourself another subscriber. SUPER stoked I found you channel!! Thanks! :)
Can someone please tell me what type of pins this radio harness uses I have bought 2 different pin kits on Amazon neither of them work for doing this. Don't have a spare harness connector from mine so have no idea what the pins look like outside of the harness

Yes I tested it while it was still apart, and then tested it for the next couple weeks to ensure it worked well before finishing the video.
Very helpful but I don’t fully understand how you hooked up the wires for the aux, that’s been my biggest challenge

Do you think an 8" screen from another truck can be connected?
Will this work in the Taurus Interceptor?
Did you ever find an answer ?
Where I can buy center console ford explorer 2014 thanks
EBay
Can you use a a USB charger for the USB?
Yes
Does this mod need to be made if swapping out the radio for an upgraded third party one?
No
Do a video on dark car mode please. I have a 2015 utility
I will add it to the list
Just go into forscan and BCM module and disable dark car mode, it will have a option called dark car mode
Ikr
Good info but I have to disagree. I HATE autoplay! in my experience its always the worst time and at random sometimes.
22:00 PS3 controller charger lmao 🤣
A Bluetooth FM transmitter will get you the same results for cheaper and no work at all
