  • “Aim For The Sky! With The 1970 Chevelle” is a training film from the September 1969 Communications kit that was sent to Chevrolet dealers to introduce the staff to the 1970 Chevelle. This film was intended for internal use at the dealership and was not shown publicly.
    Since this training film was created very early in the model year there is no mention of the SS 454. The paperwork that is included in the training kit does mention the SS 454 is coming and I have included a photo the announcement as the last two slides at the end of this film.
    Notable points in this film:
    SS 396 - 350hp and 375hp @06:05
    Cowl Induction hood @07:01
    This video was created from a filmstrip and companion 33-1/3 vinyl record from my personal collection and are shown at the beginning of this video. This film was not downloaded or copied from another source.

    Do you see something familiar here? There's no doubt in my mind that Chevrolet was itching to retire the Chevelle name EIGHT YEARS before it finally did with the downsized Malibu, following a procedure it did in 1968 with the Chevy II, which, of course, became the Nova just one year later.

    I wonder why the 4 door has vent windows?

    • @TheSteeleGarage
      @TheSteeleGarage  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Vent windows were dropped from the 2-door hardtop (no post or window frame on the doors) GM A-body cars beginning in 1969 with the advent of the astro ventilation system which added a plastic vent in the door jamb right above the door striker. The A-body 4-door cars didn't have space for the vent in the front door jamb so those cars kept the vent windows.
