Yep. I can handle situation 1 alright but in 2 they don't let me do anything no matter how much I plea or ask to help (despite them admitting I know the most about the subject.) and then get mad that I've done nothing. authors note: I get angry at group projects.
Its both for me, if I get into a group full of people THAT CANT EVEN HELP ME DO THE DARN PROJECT, I'll do it myself. But if I get into a group full of smart people, THEY WONT EVEN LET ME DO ANYTHING AHSNDJEIKDKSS
THANK YOU! Most of the boys in my 7th period are idiots who burp loudly just so us girls cringe away, and WHOOP DE DOO, A PROJECT WHERE THE MAX LIMIT OF GIRLS IS 2. I ended up with a group of 3 people, even though you're supposed to have 4, but our class was uneven. Obviously, there was one boy and two girls including me. The other girl was absent the second day of work, so I was stuck with the most annoying boy in the class. Since the other girl wasn't there, I ended up giving myself 3/4 of the work, and the one page essay (the last 1/4) to the guy. The day before it was due, he said that he hadn't started the essay! I was like, mint chocolate chip you (i swear in ice cream flavors). So, on my frikin BIRTHDAY, I did about 75 percent of the project. I just wanted to rant about this, if you're still here, thanks for listening.
I used to be a TA in college and this is pretty accurate.. it was so nice to only have to grade 1/3 or 1/4 of the number of assignments. It's also kinda about learning to overcome challenging situations with others (most professions will have you encountering difficult personalities at some point)
@@weebs93 I don't see the point of learning to "overcome". When two people become a challenge for each other to overcome, the less competent one should just be eliminated from their role to make way.

My teacher assigned me with the WORST ppl to have in a group and it was a book report and the ppl MADE ME READ LIKE 13/15 CHAPTERS(it was 3rd grade) and I HATEDD it a made me mad. It was yeh and they made me stay in from ressces and the ppl I got hat3d each other
Yeah I agree. In my situation my professors told me "That is your problem lol". Idk if in USA professors takes this situations seriously but here in México is really common have useless classmates and the professors don't help
When I was doing group projects in uni I picked people who looked 30 and over. They are almost always far, far more reliable than people fresh out of high school.
I remember watching this as a middle schooler and remember laughing at the wild adventure, now as a junior in Graphic Design I’m genuinely shocked your project was JUST a video summarizing the chapter AND JUST 6 minutes for everyone…I had a group project last year and GOD. DAMN. I basically had a group project where 4 people needed to create an 8 PAGE ESSAY around Ancient Greek Entertainment. We each needed to have 5,000 words per section with scholarly sources and specific citation (which as a tiny reminder they didn’t TEACH any of us how to properly cite things in an essay). I can tell you I was in agony that entire project especially when it was one of the only projects in the class we got a grade for…I’ve never experienced any anxieties in my life before that but I legit had a panic attack when I first was trying to wrap my head around footnotes. It was rough. It also sucked knowing that I had to make sure that not only MY section was good, but EVERY OTHER SECTION had to be on that level or I’d likely get hit hard. It’s the only time I’ve been grateful that a class was pass fail
A few months ago for my Social Studies class we had to do a podcast about some lesser known stories of the American Revolution. It was a group project and it… well I’ll explain So at the beginning of the month of doing the project we got our groups assigned I was with a moderately okay group one was someone I was kinda friendly with. And another that I was getting to know. I didn’t know the other two. But the last one was a kid infamous for breaking rules and rebelling against any and all teachers. We’ll call this kid Ken (he’s important I swear) So we had gotten a few lessons on the first week about some lesser known stories and were to use the details in the podcast. So throughout the week one of the kids I didn’t really know was gone the whole week. So all of us are worrying about how we’re going to get in contact with him since none of us knew him that well. But we tried to pull through. It was decided that I would write the script for the podcast which was fine I could handle it. I planned it out and distributed the lines between us evenly that night and shared it with my group. But the following day the other kid I didn’t know very well said she was dropping out of our group to be in her friends group. I’m pretty sure she did not get permission for that. So guess who had to edit the entire script for the lines I gave her? So it’s now a week before it’s time to start recording and Ken decides he just wants to edit the audio and not even say anything inside it. Me and the one kid I was actually friendly with (who was Elected group leader btw) just were so over it that we didn’t care. But as we’re practicing the lines Ken actually had the gall to tell the teacher that “he feels his voice isn’t being heard” but thankfully all of us were immediately able to expose him and he was forced to get some lines. The kid who was gone all the shows up on the day we’re meant to record and our recording ends up being a mess. Thankfully me and the other two kids I knew who actually put effort in got a high grade I think Ken got a C
Usually we work in partners and I was doing this science project with another girl, and she turned out to be a bit bossy even thought I tried my hardest to work on it.
Or the worst: Have two people totally disagree with each other and a completely passive person who doesn't want to step in and stop the fighting. That happened in one of my projects... Me and the other girl after I made a suggestion, the other girl loved it, then took and and ripped it in another direction I didn't suggest. She then crossed her arms, said it was her idea and they were doing it her way. She was going to type up all the questions for the survey and have us hand it out and we'd better not screw it up. The guy during it just sat there watching while I was trying to get it at least somewhat like my original suggestion.
Actually, all through school if there were any group projects needed done, almost every time I was paired with my bullies (though that was all of my grade so...yeah...) and pretty much every time they would actively exclude me from the work and then lie to the teachers saying I was lazy. I started having to ask to do group projects by myself because I was so afraid of failing all the time...
Imagine you're part of a group project you care so little you essentially let one member do 99% of the work, and not only she then passively aggressively roasts you, but turns out she's a HUGE TH-camr who can tell what you've done to 33 MILLION PEOPLE. I bet the other girls are thankful she decided not to reveal their names.
Bloodrayne was annoying and stupid but atleast she was trying to help, Yes she was USELESS but that other girl(I dunno how to spell her name) was even more useless Edit:HOLY- WHATS WITH ALL THESE LIKES-?
It is very clear how the other girl pretty much saw Jaiden gladly offering to help a bit more and thought "oh well I guess she can do the most of it then"

Any college professor who forces a group project as a final baffle me. To me it feels like they either want this to happen or are too dense to realize how common this problem is in group projects. It's like a form of social torture but with the added bonus of YOUR grade being on the line...
Group project can be to learn to work in team, which is useful for a lot of jobs. But the *team* job has to be controlled (at least a minimal) by the teacher.
Group works are very important, teachers know this will happen and in school they try to moderate them but in college you need to start to form a good group on your own.
I like to imagine one of them just clicked on it absentmindedly before everything started sounding a bit too familiar. “Wait, is this fucking play about us?”

This actually prepares you to the reality of work. This would always happen in your life. And you need the help of other people, the worst you could do is doing all by yourself, always try to fibd the most reliable group, don't search for friends, once a good group is formed, friendship will come naturally.

I know! That's why it doesn't make any sense. That girl needs to work on her excuses... or, you know, be responsible. lol Well, whatever. I'm sure those girls got what they deserved.
I wish every person who had this opinion would be put in the same class. I'm sure they would then discover the blessing of group projects since collaborating with like minded people can actually be a great experience! ^^ But I DO hate doing group projects with both people much less committed than me AND with very ambitious people too!😅 Being in a group of only clever people make me feel dumb, slow and unnecessary which is sometimes worse imo, than having to lead a project for a group of dumb, slow unnecessary folks since you can then just take all the work on yourself and get credited for your great effort, even tho' you didn't necessarily do GREAT on every part of the project xD

I just did a group project last week trying really hard not to be “That person” and it was great. All my classmates contributed, and one really stepped up and organized everything. She even made cookies for us when we met together. That was the first group project I’ve every done and I expected it to be like this, but thankfully it wasn’t and we all had a great time. I’m sorry that this happened to you Jaiden, but at least it’s over. C:
My brain is either real good or real dumb and so I either end up with all the work or none of it. Idk why, it’s just like that. Though I would rather not having a group project to begin with.
It's a gamble when it comes to this stuff. I'm in college and last semester I was doing a one semester project that consists of me and these other girls idk of, and we're stuck together for the whole semester (4-5 months), you would think we would get along but NOPE. Our conversations are so stiff and awkward, and when I try to start a non-related-project conversation to lighten up the tension, NAH I WAS GHOSTED. And since I don't care much I just elected someone else to be a leader and whooops big mistake, she passive aggressively explain stuff for her teammates and then only say her opinions to one person (vice leader), doesn't update on her team at all if there was a task project due because usually only the leader would know and give the info to teammates but she did none of that. What the frigg??? And after 4 months I confronted the vice leader explaining how majorly discomfort I was in the semester and the dynamic of the team is just... not my cup of tea or anyone else because SHE herself also feels the same way, :O, and she said this "Hang on man, there's only a few weeks left before this is all over." OH and to put the cherry on top is when FINAL PRESENTATION rolls in, since this is the finals I ask the whole group if we wanted to do a whole pitching session to get everything right and perfect for the timing of the presentation cause we only got 5 minutes. BUT THE LEADER SAID "NAH WE DON'T NEED IT", what?? and when finals roll in. Guess who has their connection cut off and left the finals meeting? The leader... and there was a solid 30 seconds of silence... and I was doing the screen sharing so idk what happened, can't open the chat or anything. By the time I realize that too much time has passed, I just read of her part of the presentation as quickly as possible and then basically rushed the presentation due to time. And when the QnA session started..., the GUEST who attended said finals meet to test our project with question, came up to me (since I spoke the most, cause someone wasn't there to do their part) and said that he expected more coordination and that I have made a fatal mistake and other soul crushing things, just.. wow luckily I pass and maybe the others as well idk. But it was traumatizing, so... if you want to do a group project, try to find your friends or immediately made a friend there, if you can't you can only gamble on how the project grows...
I once did a group project in high school with 2 other girls. One of them was really nice and pulled her own weight. The other one literally did nothing except play around with fonts during class, and made no effort to meet up outside of school. We put her in the credits as "Inspiration".
I got so freaking lucky with a group project in my psychology 101 class. I was worried I had to do a bulk of the work but my group was absolutely awesome. The two girls I worked with were on top of their game and our presentation went so well. They were absolutely incredible to work with. I hope that those in college/university, or will be going into college/uni, will have the same luck I did.
Group projects make me understand why Batman prefers to work alone. Edit:- My magical crystal ball tells me that y'all full of cuteness 🔮. Thanks for the likes
Had to do a report with 3 other girls for class. One girl didn't show up to class, or respond to texts, for the entire 6 week period of the project. The day of presentation, she actually showed up, hadn't read the book, and was like "OK what's my speaking portion?" Professor sniffed out the issue and asked her to sit down after we got up to present 🤣
I like partner projects *NOT* group projects because whenever it's a partner project my friend and I just look at each other and are like "Yup we're going to work together" in our head. God, I hope next year I'm in the same class as her otherwise I'll be the kid who doesn't have any partner ever (I have other friends but they're usually partnered their best friends).
@grandma's favorite cat I mean ._. I like partner projects but I'm just scared because if COVID 19 gets a vaccine next year and I'm not in the same class as my bestie, I'll have nobody to partner with ._.

Oh gosh. Flashbacks. This video gave me all of the group project trauma flashbacks. At least jaiden had a reasonable professor. I remember going to my teacher in high school when neither of the other members in my group would do ANYTHING. One of them even said he was failing the class anyway so he wasn’t going to work on this. When I pointed out we would ALSO fail he said he didn’t care. My teacher’s response to this was that I had to find a way to work with all kinds of people. She also told me she’d know if I just did all the work myself and she would fail me because it was a group project. She gave me the talk about how once I’m an adult I’d have to work with other people and get along with everyone. Which turned out to be NOT TRUE! You know what happens at a job if one person won’t work?! THAT person gets written up or fired. At no point in my adult life have I ever been responsible for peers in the way I was at FOURTEEN in that dang group project. (Yes, I do believe that teacher hated me, especially since she assigned the groups and had previously worked with my father who she did not like.)
@@victroz-rix3601 No, she hated me personally. I know how that sounds, but it’s actually true. I was the student of teachers at the school and this always worked one of two ways for me: if they liked whichever of my folks they worked with, they treated me great. If not… well. This particular teacher hated my dad’s guts because he got to teach the English class she wanted to teach. I am fully aware of how insane this sounds. But small town school hierarchy is basically royal intrigue level drama with hick accents. 😂
Yes, while communication is important and you do need to make an effort to find an agreement with that person, you can only do so much if that person will not cooperate.
I got an Aspergers' diagnosis back in 2013 and it's allowed me to get out of literally every single group project that schools have set me. I'm allowed to do them on my own and I get more time to work on them. It's bliss.
I am also a person with autism and group projects are the worst. I literally do the projects on my own since either I'm the one that has to do all the work in a group project or a teacher chooses me to work with a group and no one wants to work with me or let me do anything
I just learned, 5 years after this video was posted, that Reneesme (ren-esmee) is in fact the name of the child in twilight. I hate that I have acquired this knowledge but at least the name checks out.
I literally love this video. I recently had a group project that my group cared about but they didn't care about me enough to tell me what they were even doing. At the time of presenting they threw me under the bus and told me I had to do it because they didn't "revise" the notes. But fortunately the teacher forgot about it and I was saved. They even opened another group without me because they weren't serious about the presentation. Ughhh I swear sometimes I hate teenagers smmm. All I know is that I'm not doing that presentation. They won't tell me what to do I'm not doing it. Thanks Jaiden. This video helped me through it. People can be such jerks:/
God !! , i swear these type of people are everywhere of course you shouldn't do it , you don't do a presentation of something you didn't prepare + the teacher might ask you some questions about it , don't be afraid and don't let anyone tell you what to do . good luck
@@Juliana-f4f thanks. I'm pretty sure that presentation was irrelevant cause the teacher has completely forgotten about it. I'm just glad I didn't have to do it. But I'm going to college soon and I know these types of people are gonna be everywhere. I hope I make it 💙

I was literally procrastinating of having to do an entire lab report all on my own bc my "classmates" haven't replied since two days ago and I just found this video. My levels of anger are immeasurable.
This is why I despise group projects. Back in college every time I had a group project I ended up having to do all the work. They would all be "busy" or ignore my emails until the last minute, they'd ignore my Git repository and insist on emailing code to each other, and they'd forget to include other people's changes with their changes so we'd just lose like half the project in the shuffle, and when they actually did get to work the day before the project was due, they'd sit there for an hour staring at their screen and then ask me the most basic questions about how to do any given thing. At this point it would slowly dawn on me that nobody else in the group actually knew how to program. Senior year software design courses and nobody else even understood the basics of how to use the language. No idea how they passed the previous three years. Completely useless. So at this point I had a choice. I could do the whole thing myself, and carry them with me, even though they really didn't deserve it, or I could just let them fail, causing me to fail as well. Usually I chose the former, even though I knew they'd pass the course entirely through my efforts. Then I realized that's probably how they passed the previous years. Oh well.
When I had a group project they would make me do all the work and at the end they will take all the credit for themselves and tell the prof that I didn’t do anything while I did all the work
Yeah, I just hate group projects because everyone in my class ignores me, and I am in introvert. Group projects mean socializing, even though not a single one of my ideas ever sees the light of day. And we end up failing anyway. Also, I am in middle school so I can’t relate to the college part but I can still relate to the projects part.
Ikr, we had a French project and then when we have to present it, someone is our group had the audacity to ask where is the file u sent(ye me and my friend did the whole project) and then he started blaming me. An anyway because of him we lost much marks
I don’t mind group projects all that much because I’ll do my work and I end up with decent people most of the time. but if the project requires you to present in front of the class, Ima peace out, y’all are on your own with that part lmao. That’s like the only time I won’t contribute to a group project.
The introverted kid who did all of the work: *Exist* Teacher: *Ignores* The extrovert kid who did none of the work but can present: *Exist* Teacher: *Praises them*
Oh that's an interesting observation. We had comparable situations in school too. And to our surprise, our teacher told us that she was very aware of who was doing what and how much. She simply told us: "In this modern world, one (one!) of the most important abilities is to present yourself confidently and simply sell things / information to people. This is why a good presenter with mediocre results will always have a better grade as an awful presenter with excellent results".
In a GROUP project setting, I'm actually gonna stand up for the existence of the extrovert kid who did none of the work but can present. In 8th grade, my social studies teacher had us do four projects that we had to present in front of the class. I HATED that class for that very reason (even though I found the material she taught incredibly interesting). I used to be shy, and looking back on it I think I might have had some sort of social anxiety disorder? Not sure. I can speak in front of a group today with minimal issues, actually, but back then I practically had a full on phobia of presenting in front of the class. If I had the option of being paired up with someone who would let me do all the work and then go up on his/her own and do the presentation alone, I would have jumped on that like a cannibal on human meat. No, I once had the opposite happen in that class. The absolute WORST presentation was when we were supposed to do the presentation as sort of a game show (I don't remember exactly what the deal was), but not a single person in my four person group did ANY of their work except for me. So while every other group got to come up together--you know, AS A GROUP--my lazy partners got to stay at their desks and I had to go up ALONE. And rather than doing any sort of fun game show sort of thing, I had to just read off the questions and then the answers to the questions. I think there were 20 questions or something. It was so awkward, standing there reading from my paper while a class of 30-something kids just stared at me. I got to like the 7th or 8th question I think before the teacher was like "Okay, ARB, just sit down." That was one of the most embarrassing moments I ever had in school. Probably worse than when my desk fell over because it dragged out for so damn long.
For effort grades in school, they would literally give you higher grad only if you were extroverts and talked a lot. I had to succumb to being an extrovert to get better grades.
Reasons why my introverted self hates group projects: -we have to "all agree to something" -i'm the only one doing the work -everyone ignored me when i try to correct them -they never tell me when they change the drive in a big way
jupiterxx that’s me but I am an extrovert and THERE IS NO TEAM IN I ik it should be there’s no I in team but That’s my logica (and there is a me in team)
When choosing group assignment partners, either: A - Pounce on the nerdiest looking person in the room before anybody else does. B - Pounce on who you think is the cutest in the room so you don't feel angry about doing all the work.
Tbh the most hardworking people often don't look nerdy, and a decent portion of nerds don't work hard (I know waaaay too many who are permanently stuck in college). But at least you have a 50 percent chance there of hitting a jackpot.
The point of group projects is to get experience collaborating with strangers. It's prep work for the workplace. Find it strange that anyone gets to choose their group.

I know this video is like 7 years old. But Jaiden this is like one of my favourite videos of yours. I watched this almost religiously when I was in uni. I related to this so hard even down to having to email profs over group incompetence Watching this tonight it's incredible how far you've come. Love watching your content☆
I’m afraid I’ve been the nightmare person in a group project. The project was a presentation for Anthropology, about people we’d studied in their natural environment. The workload was split pretty evenly; each of us had a specific job to do, and mine was to write the discussion questions for our classmates. Unfortunately, when I was walking home one night, some maniac threw a water balloon from a moving car and nailed me in the head. Fun physics fact: hitting water at a high enough velocity is like hitting cement. Thanks to my newly acquired concussion, I wasn’t able to get any discussion questions written, and the rest of the group had to do my work for me. Thankfully, they weren’t mad at me for it. I ended up having to withdraw from the class, though, because all of the course material was online, and you’re supposed to minimize screen use while recovering from a head injury, so I quite literally couldn’t do any of the coursework.
I wouldn't say you were a nightmare project partner in this case. You weren't deliberately not doing work or leaving your partners in the dust. This was a medical thing out of your control.
And the credit go toooooo... Reneeeseme for voicing chapters 15 and 16 Bloodrayne for voicing chapters 17 and 18 Jaiden for voicing chapters 19, 20 and 21 Jaiden for editing all of the audio Jaiden for editing the video Jaiden for putting the sounds and music together Jaiden for editing all of the images Jaiden for taking all of Bloodrayne and Reneeeseme’s torture and suffering Jaiden for actually doing something in the project Jaiden for not being an idiot Jaiden for doing all of the work *Damn that’s a long list for Jaiden*
I hate group projects. Everyone’s thinking something different- and everyone’s on a different level of art, technology, design, etc. And some people just come up with the stupidest ideas- theres always that ONE person, who didnt do anything, does everything, has very messy handwriting, and the person that has no idea what they're doing. I have a feeling this goes to everyone except the people you are friends with. And which teacher would let us choose our group members?-
I swear every single time i do group projects i end up having selfish human beings who dont let u do anything then they do it all wrong and get you a horrible grade -_-
The worst thing is you come up with the most brilliant ideas ever but those brain dead people don’t listen to you and when the situation gets very bad, they blame you on your “irresponsible”. Like seriously, even the teachers can’t even help.😑
I hate group projects. My group doesn't usually include my ideas. Then, once it's too late to fix the ideas they came up with (which have flaws I pointed out from the VERY BEGINNING), they completely ghost me and I end up having to finish the whole project all on my own. If I'm lucky, someone else will be there to help me. But that's uncommon.
things that happen in group projects or partnered projects 1.) you do all the work 2.)get partnered with people who don't like you 3.) they do all the work even though you can help them 4.) you goof off because you're with your friends
I’m in a group project rn and my friend and I r with this guy who is the class slacker and isn’t gonna do a thing so we’re gonna have to do his portion of the slides and then give him cue cards so we can present it. *anger*
For digi tech, we had to (wait for it) get a partner, come up with and prototype an app in two weeks. The partner was randomized. So. Of course I had to come up with the app idea, and make the presentation myself while my partner kept fiddling with my mouse. My partner did actually none of the work. Nada. But what really annoyed me was how they passed it off as if they did their fair share as well, when I actually poured my heart and soul into this and was proud of the end result. It's so irritating when your partner gets the same mark as you when they did nothing, and made the experience frustrating.
I've had a similar case but my partner made it out as if I was the one who wasn't working. Luckily the teacher knew this kid was a doof head and didn't believe her.
You're not alone. Group projects truly are the bane for all students, no matter the grade level. Somehow you'll always get stuck with at least one slacker who doesn't care or worse, someone who does care but seriously lacks the skills needed to make the project successful.
Reminds me of my final where I had to design a rollercoaster. Not just some imaginary one but legitimate physics applied to them. Had to make sure each twist, turn, loop, and drop didn't kill anyone. My teammates were.. very uninterested. One was some varsity football player and another some stereotypical pothead. I really wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt but after 3 days of me doing all of the work, constantly telling them to do something, literally watch them talk to others working on their projects.. I straight up walked up to my physics teacher and told him if I can work on my own because of how unresponsive and uninterested my team was. He gave me a special exception to work by myself. The majority of my energy went into getting the math right and very little on the design and theme we were supposed to give it. Everyone did a great job and mine just looked like something made by a kindergartner. I passed with a B but those guys failed the protect due to not turning anything in. For the rest of my senior year they tried to make my life a living hell because I didn't do all of the work but I never let it get to me. Have no idea where they are now and I couldn't care less.
My God, this reminds me of most of my group projects. I do 60% of the work, and the others mostly just complacently follow me and take terrible notes. This is why I hate group projects so much.
That random person catching up on random Jaiden videos.... and my god this spoke volumes to me when I was in college. I can't count the number of times I was either leader and had to do everything or not the leader and had to do everything because said "leader" failed on me.
+Xuskeuclite really? In preschool we were read stories and taught basic mathematics and reading. Man I hate how some people have it easy... Then again my preschool teacher might be the reason I always get best marks so * shrugs violently *
Currently rewatching this to avoid the pain of my own horrible nightmare group project. Nobody in the group seems to have any opinions on our presentation. One person literally hasn't touched our shared slides or research document, despite being given three classes to work on it. Another person is just copy-and-pasting garbage blog posts into the slides. And then, the one day I'm not in class (because I was running a fever of 102 degrees!) someone put our names down to be first to present :( I do not understand what goes on in people's heads
I hated group projects too but mostly because I was the person that didn’t do shit. Not because I didn’t care, or at least didn’t care about the group members, but because I didn’t know what the fuck to do half the time and they never told me what to do, or gave me anything to do. I always felt bad and useless.
I got super lucky with my group projects. My team was organized and they worked very hard to make things work. Sorry to hear things were so rough, but good on you for putting in the work. You deserve an A for effort.
Group projects are either:
1. You end up doing all the work
2. People don’t let you do anything
I just wanted to rant about this, if you're still here, thanks for listening.
i always do all the work because i never have smart partners

hot take: group projects exist solely for the professor so they don’t have to grade en entire lecture hall’s worth of individual projects
@@kaiz1845 businesses are rarely this efficient. If you work with others then you will encounter people who see things differently or flat out make things difficult. Learning to communicate is important, but frustrating most of the time.
@@weebs93 yeah, ik that businesses are rarely that efficient. But at the same time, people with stage 4 cancer rarely get to survive, and it's not like any of them really deserves to die. Just because something generally is one way, doesn't mean it's how things should be.

@◇ Black•Misty ◇ Well, you're going have a bit of pain during later school years.

@@sandorrclegane2307 oh it was lmaoooo but thankfully I survived ^^
A few months ago for my Social Studies class we had to do a podcast about some lesser known stories of the American Revolution. It was a group project and it… well I’ll explain
So at the beginning of the month of doing the project we got our groups assigned I was with a moderately okay group one was someone I was kinda friendly with.
Thankfully me and the other two kids I knew who actually put effort in got a high grade
I think Ken got a C

A Cubed Dolphin same
A Cubed Dolphin yeah its hard for me to work with a group
Usually we work in partners and I was doing this science project with another girl, and she turned out to be a bit bossy even thought I tried my hardest to work on it.
In Group projects you either get to
1: do all the work
2: don’t do anything
3: get paired with your friends and have a group with literally zero IQ
I did the last one in an art project and did everything in the last day and got a D
4: get paired with strangers, do everything at last minute and excel in the project because you and your team are actually competent people.
The 3rd one is relatable haha

Any college professor who forces a group project as a final baffle me. To me it feels like they either want this to happen or are too dense to realize how common this problem is in group projects. It's like a form of social torture but with the added bonus of YOUR grade being on the line...
Group project can be to learn to work in team, which is useful for a lot of jobs. But the *team* job has to be controlled (at least a minimal) by the teacher.
Group works are very important, teachers know this will happen and in school they try to moderate them but in college you need to start to form a good group on your own.

Oh gosh.

Sorry, I’m a bit of a stickler when it comes to grammar.
I got an Aspergers' diagnosis back in 2013 and it's allowed me to get out of literally every single group project that schools have set me. I'm allowed to do them on my own and I get more time to work on them. It's bliss.
I've used my autism to get out of them too lol. And I still got better grades on them than the other groups.
I am also a person with autism and group projects are the worst. I literally do the projects on my own since either I'm the one that has to do all the work in a group project or a teacher chooses me to work with a group and no one wants to work with me or let me do anything
You guys are so lucky
I got diagnosed with Asperger's back when I was 3 and I still had to do the group projects. :(

Oh well.
Oh God I feel so bad for you I'm scared for when I go to college and have to do college group projects
That professor really sounds like she was gearing up and picking up her lightning bolt to smite those two whilst writing that email.
As of it wasn’t clear from the start that smth like that might happen. Teachers can be so ignorant!
The introverted kid who did all of the work: *Exist*
Teacher: *Ignores*
The extrovert kid who did none of the work but can present: *Exist*
Teacher: *Praises them*
Oh that's an interesting observation.
FR
Literally I'm the introvert kid who gets ignored
Reasons why my introverted self hates group projects:
-we have to "all agree to something"
-i'm the only one doing the work
-everyone ignored me when i try to correct them
-they never tell me when they change the drive in a big way

When choosing group assignment partners, either:
A - Pounce on the nerdiest looking person in the room before anybody else does.
B - Pounce on who you think is the cutest in the room so you don't feel angry about doing all the work.
That's some quality wisdom.
Me: Sits down and waits for the teacher to stick me with other people (or just find some people that are alone)
I just do the projects by myself and thankfully my professors never complain about it lol
I always try to give myself as much work as I can without making it unfair because I don’t trust other people

You’re right. Thanks!

I hate group projects. Everyone’s thinking something different- and everyone’s on a different level of art, technology, design, etc. And some people just come up with the stupidest ideas-
theres always that ONE person, who didnt do anything, does everything, has very messy handwriting, and the person that has no idea what they're doing. I have a feeling this goes to everyone except the people you are friends with. And which teacher would let us choose our group members?-
Lol
I swear every single time i do group projects i end up having selfish human beings who dont let u do anything then they do it all wrong and get you a horrible grade -_-
Reason I don’t like to do group projects: I am an introvert
The worst thing is you come up with the most brilliant ideas ever but those brain dead people don’t listen to you and when the situation gets very bad, they blame you on your “irresponsible”.
Like seriously, even the teachers can’t even help.😑
I hate group projects. My group doesn't usually include my ideas. Then, once it's too late to fix the ideas they came up with (which have flaws I pointed out from the VERY BEGINNING), they completely ghost me and I end up having to finish the whole project all on my own. If I'm lucky, someone else will be there to help me. But that's uncommon.
things that happen in group projects or partnered projects
1.) you do all the work
2.)get partnered with people who don't like you
3.) they do all the work even though you can help them
4.) you goof off because you're with your friends
Group projects are hell. They taught me to trust no one........

jaiden shouldve dropped them the moment nobody submitted any work during the 1st week
I've literally cried for hours and sleepless nights trying to get together group projects on my own, I feel your pain
This is why I ask my teacher if I can work on my own.

You're not alone. Group projects truly are the bane for all students, no matter the grade level. Somehow you'll always get stuck with at least one slacker who doesn't care or worse, someone who does care but seriously lacks the skills needed to make the project successful.
RallyCheetah
I think the slacker is worse, at least the other guy is trying.
