      Hi Natalie, yes we are!!! We are near Yellowstone National Park now and we can't fit in most of the campsites in the area. Thankfully there are lots of places we do fit. The next RV will be smaller!

      EnjoyTheJourney.Life thank you. We are seriously considering leaving suburbia with our 2 kids and full time RVING for at least a year. In the initial research stages, mostly trying to figure out how to make an income on the road but also what kind of rig we want. Going from a 2500 square foot home, your RV looks like an easier transition especially since there are four of us but I worry we will be shut out of National Parks. Thanks for sharing your journey with us.

    I have the same oven in my RV. It took a couple of uses to understand the dynamics behind this little gas oven. First, you really DON'T need to preheat, the oven is so small it heats to temp and beyond in seconds. Once you get it lit, go ahead and put your dish into the oven. Second do not trust the oven temp on the knob, it's about 50 degrees hotter than the setting. Third, keep your rack, (if possible) to the upper 3rd of the oven. Lastly, if a recipe says bake for 30 min. check it at 20 min. ~ chances are good that it's done and ready to leave the oven. I've made biscuits, pizza, casseroles and cakes in my little Suburban RV oven with great results. I hope my input helps, some dishes just need a oven. :0)

    Nice Rv, one note I added an hand rail to the screen door, it was about 20 bucks on amazon and it gives a lot of support to the door and your not pulling on the plastic.
    We have about fours yet and we will be full timing it.

      Great idea, Clint! Can you link the handrail from amazon? I'd like to look at that! We have 3 steep steps and I am always looking for something to hold on to when climbing the steps and that plastic is the only option, and I'm afraid I'll mess it up! Thanks! ~Cheri

    I love your home. It's beautiful 💖
    I too love mine. I bought a 1978 22ft Chevy Shasta Class C and have spent the last 2 plus years gutting it to the bare framing and rebuilding it to be a home instead of an RV.
    I will be traveling solo because my husband hates to travel 😝 But he knows how important to me and is happily helping me finish up the last few things so I can leave Michigan as soon as the Holidays are over. I will be heading down to AZ Jan 1, 2019 and will be attending the RTR.
    I hope I can show everyone how much love, sweat, tears and $$ went into this build that I did 90% myself. I have an Auto immune disorder that has given me lupus and a list of other ugly symptoms but I refuse to sit by feeling sorry for myself 😊 I just lost my mom, my best friend for 50yrs and since she was supposed to travel with me....sadly I will be for both of us. I'm going to bring her with me and sprinkle some of her at all the beautiful places I know she would have loved to see.
    I hope to meet you both out there someday 😉 take care and safe travels to you both. 💖

      Michelle, we are in the same position! I bought a 1992 Toyota RV last year and have spent the time since then obsessed with getting her in shape to travel on my own. My dear husband has pitched in and done a bunch of work on her for me, saving me a ton of money. Things like brakes, shocks, bearings. I've had a bunch of engine work done and have redecorated the interior completely. I love it!
      My Dad passed away just after I bought her, after dealing with Alzheimer's for 12 years. His dream was to buy an RV and travel. He never got to do this. When the family gathered to spread his ashes, I saved a vial to take with me in the RV so in a small way he will be fulfilling his dream too. Best of luck on your adventures, Michelle. Maybe we'll meet up one day!

      Dear Honey and Me, I also lost my mom to the same horrible disease.
      She had minor dementia for years and was so strong that she hardly ever slowed down for a second. I think deep down she knew that if she did....she may not recoup. The whole year of 2017 gradually progressed through the different stages and the changes we rather slow at times then other times she would leave us either laughing or crying.
      Then at my nephews wedding in late August of 2017 my mom was completely 100% changed from the days before. Over the next week she had fallen a couple times and was extremely confused, excited and irritable with bouts of crying out of control until her beautiful eyes swelled shut from crying so long for no apparent reason but one only known to her.
      We knew our lives would never ever be the same. I'm still crying writing this.
      My mom went into the hospital in late September (me and my 4 brothers and sisters took 6hr shifts around the clock never EVER was she alone without one of her children or grandchildren with her) 💖 and rapidly deteriorated to the point she couldn't come home so we all celebrated the holidays with her at the hospital the best we could. We decorated and carried on like nothing was wrong 😊 then Jan 8th shortly after midnight she passed.
      It seemed like she waited for the holidays ( her favorite) to be over 😊
      This disease took her very fast and we were told that she was in a small percentage that goes so quickly. I also lost my dad in 2010 to CHF.
      I feel your pain and send you my condolences for your loss as well. I think that dementia is a cruel family disease because the loved ones suffer so badly watching their loved one drift away. I believe my mom really did not have a clue of what was going on so as long as she wasn't in pain I guess this was the best way for her to leave us and not in severe pain from cancer or other painful ailment.
      I am so sorry for your loss as well.
      Doesn't it change you? I feel so different. I look at life different, think differently and I don't know? ?? Just feel like an orphan. I know that sounds crazy at my age. Maybe I need help?
      I look forward to time alone to reflect and remember but more importantly I need to heal. Being in nature I think will help a lot 😊
      My husband also helped with some mechanical issues or heavy lifting with the RV lol!! But I still feel very proud of what I have done despite the struggles in 2017. I just will always regret not getting an rv ready to travel because I would have spent some quality one on one time with my mom. Everything does happen for a reason and only God knows why he chose the time.
      I wish you all the best of life and many wonderful memories of your travels to come.
      I'm on fb sometimes under Michelle Scott Drouillard so if you are also? I could see pics of your RV redo and show you some pics of mine 😊
      Take care and sending a hug.
      Thank you 😊

    I have some great Instant Pot recipes that are a meal in a pot. Greek Chicken, potatoes and a vegetable of your choice.
    Convection means a fan circulates the air so there are NO hot/cold spots. I have seen fans for the early fridges to make them convection fridges. I have not seen fans for ovens (heat is an issue for their survival).
    A clean desk is the sign of an empty mind!!!
    The bench in the shower is handy for us old folks (75), Does your toilet have the bidet sprayer?`
    In Miami it is not Spanish it is Cuban!!! Much faster (I lived in Puerto Rico - not Spanish there either!)

    I see you like Florida 👍. Our daughter moved from Upstate New York a few years ago after college graduation 👩🏻‍🎓 and we visit often. She is Gulf side and we LOVE it. We have never taken our RV, but I think I have my husband talked into it 🤞. I see there are some state parks in the keys that are ON the beach. Do you have any experience Gulf side , like Sarasota, St. Pete, Clearwater area? I’ve heard Destin has a campground on the sand as well, but we would like to be a little closer to Tampa/St. Pete or Sarasota so we can spend time with our daughter without a lot of driving. We usually stay a few days with her and then hit Siesta and Lido Keys at one of the resorts like the old Helmsley’s, but when the husband retires in 8 years we plan to RV 10 months out of the year and what better time to try camping on the beach than now, lol. Thanks for your tour. Forest River makes a good rig. We have a 33ft Forest River Wildcat TT with bunkhouse and we love it. I like the real hardwood cabinets and woodwork/moldings, etc. We had a Keystone previously and the cupboards were not as nice. Our screen door has the old school aluminum scrolling on the bottom half of the door meant to keep kids or pets from falling through the screen. It came that way from the dealer, so not sure if it was standard or a factory option as I never thought to ask. Sorry so long winded, lol......but....your mattress. It doesn’t really retain the heat? We have a Serta gel infused one and even with the cooling mattress cover, I overheat. I’m in NYS and have been sleeping with the window open it’s so bad. I would give the gold out of my teeth (if I had gold teeth lol) for a memory foam mattress that stayed even room temperature. Asking REAL people is so much better than relying on website reviews and I trust you guys. Thank you in advance and happy trails 🙂💕

    On other vlogs some RVers get a pizza stone for the propane oven . The kitchen cabinetry is beautiful . Are they solid wood w/dove tail joints ?

    Lyon have to rotate the food in the oven. It's like the convection oven you have to learn how to use it.

      I tried that, and it still didn't cook evenly. I have found the convection works great for all of my needs at the moment, but you never know, I may give it another shot when I get the courage, lol🤣 ~Cheri

    We're not F/T yet but searching and planning. Your video was awesome! You're both a pleasure to watch. TY Just wondering...when you say it's like an earthquake when moving what do you do with all your items that are on shelves and walls? all the things that make an RV a home??

    • @EnjoyTheJourneyLife
      @EnjoyTheJourneyLife  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Melanie, yes when we get ready for the road, all loose items have to be secured! It takes about 4 hours for us to 'prep' for a move, including unhooking outside and bringing slides in. I think we will have to do a video on this! Anything on the counter has to either be put in cabinets (that click shut), or in the sink, or on the floor in a basket or something that won't move. We put all of our desk/work items on the sofa and cover it with a blanket to keep it in place. Clocks/mirrors have industrial velcro securing them. Shower doors and closet doors are latched. It's quite the process haha! When we arrive at our new destination, we 'set up house' again. :) ~Cheri

    My wife and I want to live on the road beginning in mid 2019. We have been looking at van conversions such as this printer, but looking at your RV I am wondering if we should consider such a vehicle. Hey there! I've had this life plan in my mind since.....well forever! In 2014, I could feel the powers that be telling me to stop thinking about it and DO IT, so my journey began there and then. I've been blessed with a wonderful and full life with 3 amazing kids that are now grown and a job that I love but each chapter brings it's own unique changes and I'm rolling with them! I've been in learning and research phase since 2014. Just starting the transition and love all of the fun and helpful videos that you have made that I stumbled upon. Congrats on getting your channel out there! Best wishes and I'll be happily following your travels and working on the beginnings of my own site, blog and channel. That's a bummer about your oven! The thing I hate the most about the oven is lighting it, but I added the pizza stone as well and I always light the oven, turn it to 450 degrees and let it heat up for 10 min. Then I adjust the temp to whatever I'm cooking and put it right in. It seems to work great for me. I use it all the time. I have an instant pot as well, and I do like to use it in the winter mostly, but I still use my oven the most. I cook things quite often in a cast iron frying pan. Just add my potatoes and put the meat on top and it's a one pot meal.

    • @EnjoyTheJourneyLife
      @EnjoyTheJourneyLife  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Melissa Allam I may have to give it another try because I cook a lot! I use my IP pretty much every day and do a lot of batch cooking in it for the freezer. I always had Tom light it on my few attempts so I need to learn how to do that too! Quite the learning curve in an RV haha!

    IMHO, the pizza stone is too thin I measured the then bought a thick UNGLAZED floor tile. It should be placed on the oven floor rather than a rack. Then, before using it, I used a oven thermometer to test it at 250, 350, and 450. Mine was 10 degrees hotter at each setting. I then baked some cookies, because they cook quickly, at 10° below what the recipe called for. Voila!!! PERFECT!! I do preheat but it doesn't take long at all.

    Definitely glamping but you're happy and that's what matters! -Would love to see a little lower camera action just to see a bit better throughout the video. ☺️ Not that your heads/faces aren't beautiful. 🧡 Question: are you doing any alturistic acts/work in your travels and if so, could you share what that is? One of the important things I hope to be able to do when my daughters and I hit the road is to find ways that we help others, commune with compassion and hopefully make the world a tiny bit better place to be. I'm just not sure what that will look like all together. -Fun video! You two seem wonderfully fun yourselves and I wish you all the fun in all of your travels. 🧡

    Can you give me more insight on how you made that desk area by your table

    • @EnjoyTheJourneyLife
      @EnjoyTheJourneyLife  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure, we're not woodworking experts and just made this as simple as possible, but it's worked great for several years now. It's 3/4" oak cut into a 20x22" (left side) and 20x24" (right side, to fit the space available). These are supported by 2 2x4's on each floor side (28" high). We purchased a wood stain to match the table as close as possible. Each side is attached to the table with 2 long wood screws (from inside the table, we have a little storage area). So if we ever decide to convert it back to a regular kitchen table, that would be simple to remove the screws.
