Just to clarify Shiro and Adam were never engaged. As stated by Lauren herself they were on their way to being so but the relationship ended before it got to that point, when Adam walked out on Shiro because he chose to go on the Kerberos mission. So Shiro HAD a boyfriend but not anymore and it was stated that again by Lauren that it was over for good. So Shiro be gay and single.

As a Sheith shipper, I see where you're coming from. However, while Keith did say he was like a brother to him, that could've just been an excuse he's told himself on why he can't be with/like Shiro. After all, Keith might think that Shiro's still hung over Adam. Or he might think that he doesn't have a chance and doesn't want to ruin their relationship. Also, the age gap isn't really that bad. Yes, it's seven years, but once they're both adults I don't see the problem. Also, there's been plenty of other ships with the same age gap in other media (Maya Fey and Phoenix Wright, for example). Also... Shiro didn't really raise Keith? We don't really know how old Keith is in the flashbacks (I'd guess around middle school age, maybe) so we can't judge that Shiro "raised Keith" when it's obvious Keith's already gone a very long time without Shiro. While Shiro influenced Keith, and helped him, that doesn't mean that he raised him. He was a mentor and someone to look up to. Do you know how many people gain crushes on their mentor figures? A lot of them. So, anyway, I'm completely fine with people raising reasons one why they don't ship Sheith, I don't appreciate people telling us to stop, since it's completely plausible. Sheith has had plenty of tender and touching moments, as well as a close and intimate relationship (which you can totally see as platonic) which is what initially brought most of the current Sheith shippers to Sheith.
Kate Hawley I understand the ship. I was rooting for this partially because I saw its potential..and i honestly dont ship anyone in this fandom. I started shipping lotorxallura i believe 2 episodes before the ship was DESTROYED Ha it was an ouch.
But- we're given so much hints that this relationship is *not* romantic as of season 6 and episode 1 of Season 7. I can see how you can jam in that Keith may have a crush on Shiro- okay then what about the man himself? What does he see in Keith? A well devoted..intelligent young man. And i find it completely shallow that after we get news that Shiro is canonally gay, people feel like the ship miraculously recovered and Sheith lives because of this fact. No?? Unpopular opinion: I don’t ship Shiro and Adam. I mean..we haven’t even met the guy yet. We don’t know what he’s like. Plus yknow....him and Shiro aren’t a thing anymore. Not saying you can’t ship it cause it’s fiction and you’re allowed to imagine characters in any way that you want, but please understand that it’s canon that they are not a couple anymore. And I think that them staying broken up will be a good move. You say that the fandom is tired of “sheith shippers saying it ruins their precious ship” (which I have seen some of and it’s sad), when most of what I’ve seen is the fandom saying that all Shiro ships are now dead since it’s confirmed Shiro had a boyfriend. The fandom doesn’t seem to understand the “had” part.
You can ship whatever you want. It just wouldn’t be good on Shiro’s character to go back with Adam in CANON. He needs to move on and grow as a person. Adam left him and he’ll have to eventually accept that. That’s why I think them getting back together wouldn’t be a good message. It would be better to show kids that “Hey, in life sometimes you have to make difficult decisions that include your loved ones. And it’s better to move on then stay in the past.”
I couldn’t care less if people ship Shadam/Adashi. It’s not toxic, it’s not terrible. They had a healthy, beautiful relationship (as stated by LM). I’m just really tired of hearing people say that it’s canon and “Shiro ships are dead”.

I really dont want Allura and Lance to end up together. It's clear that she doenst like him the way he likes her. Like, Lance is a great character, and deserves better than just being Allura's 2nd choice just because it didn't work out with the first one. Also, what kind of message is that sending. Lance needs to realize that a relationship is 2 people. He likes her, but she doesn't like him. Allura has a say in who she ends up with, and it would be incredible lazy to just make them a couple. Good on the crew to making the gay pairing with a character we didn't know about, because that's not lazy. These characters, especially Shiro, had lives before the events of the show that we dont know about.

Please. They're definitely not going to end up together. Look, I'm a multishipper and I have no hate or dislike towards Allurance. Before s6 and the kiss with Lotor happened, I was all for it. But after that? It just didn't feel right to have them get together. (I still can ship them in fanon though)
I don't believe Allura necessarily went to Lance as a second choice. She just really needed someone to be there for her, and she held out to a friend. (At least I hope so.)
Anyway, Lauren herself said Lance will end up with someone he needs, not someone he wants; someone who is sure of themselves. And right now he wants Allura, and after the thing with Lotor, Allura doubts herself more than ever. If they do become a thing, Lance will realize she's not for him and that it's better if they just stay as teammates and friends. That will part of Lance's arc, because he's definitely starting to step up and realize who he is and his worth.
But yeah! That's my mini rant, sorry. I can't wait until s7 :D

Shiro now represents people with mental illness, long term illness, disabilities, LGBT people, and POC.
Shiro is also NOT engaged or Adam’s fiancé and vice versa. They were planning to be engaged then married, but then the Kerberos mission popped up, and Shiro wanted to go. However, the Galaxy Garrison didn’t want him to go because of his disease, Adam as well. Adam then made Shiro decide whether to go on the mission and lose him, or stay and get engaged and married to Adam. Shiro obviously chose the Kerberos mission, thus having to break up with Adam. Commander Holt was able to convince the Galaxy Garrison to let Shiro go with him and his son on the mission.
So for anyone who ships Shadam, it’s kinda dead. Unless they somehow get back together, that ship has sailed and sunk. I kind of doubt they’d get back together since they’re ex-boyfriends, but it can be possible.
I multiship, so I’ll be satisfied with almost any ship that becomes endgame. From Klance and Sheith to Allurance and Kidge to Shklance and Shallurance, I’m pretty diverse with my ships.

Shiro, the space Angel, is basically my favourite and all important gay rep. He's a powerful character who not only has PTSD but also a physical condition. He's a leader, a fighter, the Champion, and just all round an awesome inspiration for anyone.
While I'm so happy that Shiro had a wonderful relationship with Adam, I'm also sad that they had a bad break up. I got to read what happened in the first episode, and the choice Adam gave Shiro was rather cruel and unfair. I hope they make up later on, but I can't see them getting back together.
Shiro needs and deserves someone who's there for him 120%, who has never given up on him, and we know of one character who thought it would be better to die with Shiro than to live without Shiro in their life. Plus the episode introducing Adam basically compared him and this character and showed how they are a much better fit than Adam.
In relationships, you have to be able to cope with being able to make selfless decisions, especially if you plan to spend your whole lives together.

Back in season 2 or 3 I'm pretty sure one of the creators (I don't remember who) drew a picture of all of the characters, Keith and Hunk holding a race sign, Keith looking more nervous while hunk looking more reassuring, (this was before galra Keith reveal) Pidge and Alurra holding a gender sign, and Pidge had her gender reveal, with Allura being the one who helped break pidge out of her shell. And lastly there's Lance and Shiro holding the LGBT sign, with Lance looking more nervous, and Shiro having a reassuring hand on Lances shoulder. (And remember lances arc is coming up soon)

Also, having gay characters in a tv series isn't as important as your freedom or your human rights. If June is dedicated to that aspect of homosexuality, then it's probably best to leave it as pride month. Might be nice to get rid of the gimmicky marketing, but that's a separate issue.

I'm so glad he's "masc" gay man. There's absolutely nothing wrong with "fem" gay men, and they need good representation too, but typically when there is gay male representation, it's gross, tropey and stereotypical. I'm glad that this, seemingly and hopefully, is not that.
Shiro is my favorite character in voltron and him being gay does not change the way i see him he is a great character and being gay (to me at least) further develops his character

Also, I may have stopped watching this show after season 2 cuz it felt like unless your fave character was called Shiro, Keith or Allura you were gonna be disappointed and my fave character was Lance. Then I read this title of this video and heard Lance and Allura hints and became ecstatic because I low key shipped it but season 2 felt like it was setting up Keith x Allura like every other version of this show.

Yeah that art did have Lance and Shiro holding the LGBTQ sign and I'm sure it's for a reason. So maybe when Shiro reveals his sexuality Lance will as well. Of course he really does like Allura but there has been several hints that he likes Keith too he just hasn't been open about it. This gives me more hope for Klance.
