I finished high school on my own (had a one room ratty apartment), and worked in a laundry at night when I was 17. Gave birth to my son (only child) three months before my 19th birthday. Everyone was telling me I had to give him up, but I refused. My son is now 53, has been married to his high school sweetheart for 25 years, and is now my best friend. His father was in his life even though we weren't together, and did pay child support. The heartache this woman has gone through, thinking she was doing what was best for her child, only to find out what happened to her baby is crushing, to say the least. RIP baby girl.
I had my son when I just turned sixteen. He’s 45 now and my Buddy my best friend my savior. He saved me when he was born. I can’t imagine the soul crushing pain yet strength of this mama. What she went through to find her baby solve her murder and finally Justice and now will bring her home to her final resting place. It’s where she belongs. May her daughter rest in peace with her loving family.
don't ever give up your children no matter what don't sign, they would also wonder why? I believe biological is biological, none else , if a child is adopted , they should by the welfare have records , and make sure the real father and mothers records are there , many children seek their own parents up, its selfish and thievery to claim a child and not let them know the truth, also did happen , an child adopted, and he knows it can turn even and kill adopted parents, when they mentally deranged
I don't understand what happened with the adoption agency. They are supposed to complete background checks and whole lot more before approving adaptions. Someone must have dropped the ball and not followed protocol.
Our adoptive home , beat to many fosters so were not allowed the infants they craved.. but they were allowed "hard to place " children and we were in hell.. 3 of us were homeless eating out of garbage and stripping or working at carnivals and being raised by homeless folks who were better than my adopted folks
@@stephaniespc Yes. I believe I read your response just after I posted mine. I still don't understand how that stuff happens! It's just so unbelievably wrong. My heart goes out to this mother. As a child she thought she gave her child a chance to live better and a monster took all that away. She definitely is a mother even though she made a decision that I know was hard for her at 17. This is a sad story but, with God this mother was able to do the unbelievable for her child. She helped found her. ❤️ This had me in tears.
What irony that despite having given her up, in the end, that unending motherly devotion drove her to solve her child's murder. I can imagine that pain, guilt and rage that would overtake any mother to learn their baby had been given to a monster. A PAIR of monsters!
Strong woman. Her daughter looked just like her. My deepest condolences to Ms. Cathy. I wish Dr. Oz devoted more time to this story. 10 minutes is too short for something as deep and serious as this.
Not to defend crappy adoption agencies, but I think it was harder to get records back then and maybe the adoptive female person was the one to apply and she might not have a record. What’s extra upsetting is that the school was aware of the abuse and apparently didn’t report it to authorities. This should have been longer to get more details.
Thought so too: that adoptive parents were highly questioned and researched if they could meet the standards of responsibility and credibility to adopt and raise a child. We know that anyone not even close to facing standards like that can have babies, which is IMO neither a good thing, cause it is making adoption already a bit questionable. But some adoptive parents are doing great. Kudo's to this lady, who is a better investigator than all the authorities involved.

This is so tragic. In most of these cases, it’s not actually the mother’s choice to give the child up for adoption. It’s almost always someone else’s; usually her parents. That makes these adoptions even harder on these women. But they also never stop loving and thinking about their children. The adoption stories where the child and the bio mother or bio parents can meet are always heartwarming. For this story to end this way is tragedy.

This is horrible, and similar heartbreaking stories are out there. Some adopted children go through so much trauma. When the adoptions are closed, the children have no one to seek help from, who may ultimately be that safe haven. She could've been rescued by her Mother had the adoption been open. Why,why, why wasn't a criminal background check done on this Man and Woman before allowing them to adopt a child? The system failed her and most likely other children. I'm glad her Mother worked endlessly to find out the truth. Now her baby girl can rest in peace. 🕊🕊
The school did nothing to report the abuse and a missing teenager would only have been a brief paragraph, especially when the adoptive parents refused to talk. I hope your local media picks up on it, but it may depend on what kind of influence the school authorities have on your local media. They are the ones who could have saved her, but it sounds like they either didn’t know or turned a blind eye to her abuse. The story needs more details about who knew what and when.
If anyone ever considers adopting their baby out they should find adoption lawyer. They will have several people looking for adoption. You can meet them, investigate them for yourself.
