So, I have the one with the Ryzen 5 in it, and it's such a fast processor, walks all over the i5 10300H, and runs pretty cool tbh!!! I still prefer the legion 5 laptop however over this one, as it has better cooling and a better keyboard.
Yea I'd rather of had the ryzen but stock was limited when I was looking to buy. I heard then legion 5 was the way to go but they were pricey and out of stock when I was looking to buy
Hey, if you remember the pc I was talking about a (few) weeks ago, I got a gt 1030 for it. Msi oc gddr5 version if you wonder. It definitely is better than the igpu in the cpu. However I still intend to use the igpu along the gpu for my secondary monitor that uses vga, which isn't on my version of the gpu (hdmi+dp for "future proofing"). If I get an adapter, Ill put that monitor on the gpu. Thanks for the help though!
Thats odd, I have the same stock gaming Laptop and it sits at 40 degrees normally and never passes 60 degrees if I play even the heaviest of games and runs at 100fps.
Why by a new laptop, just to take it apart, put in new thermal paste, jack around with the inside and risk damaging it? I use to build Desktops, but that was a LOT easier. Gaming laptops are just general a waste or time, and don't last no matter what you do to them. But to each their own. I just would never pay that much for something and then do surgery on it, if it works just fine. And my son has one of these and it's not loud, a little hot (like most), but still runs great as of June 2023, so yeah, I was proven wrong by his lasting. But I have an Xbox SX/One X/PS5 and ole 360. I just ordered a Steam Deck because for what it is, it's way better than any gaming laptop. Lower resolutions yes, but runs cooler, quieter and is made to last. I almost bought one of these, but said nah I'd take the simple route. Get a Steam Deck and you'll probably never consider a gaming LAPTOP again. Especially for what it can DO, and it's ultra portable. NOTE steer clear of the Asus Ally as it's total junk.
yea, agreed gaming laptop are a waste in my opinion, I only by midrange laptops and keep them around for like 5 years for upgrading as I need to have a laptop for travel and other stuff, I would not spend high dollar on one I just got a steam deck and the versatility of it i don't even take out my laptop anymore since I installed windows 11 on it.
@@DLMtechgarage That's awesome, yeah PC's over the years have just become so cheap and now being owned by cheap Chinese companies, even worse. They certainly aren't what they use to be. Tried my cousins Steam Deck and wow what good quality (control) and such a premium feel. Also it is amazing what you can do with it, even at lower resolutions. Is your fan pretty silent, just boosts up without being annoying? lol I've heard great things about it, and they say it just runs warm. That's how it was when I played on it. Depending on your settings etc. Thanks
biggest difference was upgrading the thermal paste to some premium quality like artic 6 or thermal grizzly. that helped alot. another trick was under power management option in windows and processor power I decreased it by 5% and that made a huge difference and the performance loss was not even noticeable.

ATTENTION: if your gonna open your laptop and do any work on it PLEASE disconnect the battery. small mistakes like that can lead to big problems.
Its fine if laptops off
