    I’ve been making patchwork skirts for a few years but I’ve never thought of attaching a lining since I usually use a slip underneath. Now that I’ve watched your video I’d like to make one with a lining especially my fall and winter skirts

    Patchwork (I've decided) is my new aesthetic! My goblin heart adores anything scrappy. I may just add some random buttons or bells or embroidery or tassels.

    This video was a lifesaver! I couldnt find anything that gave exactly this ANYWHERE on the internet. Also, just wonderjng, about how big should the fabric squares be?

    I was lying in bed when all of the sudden I got an idea of a patchwork skirt I wanted to make. I wasn’t quite sure how to go about it, but your video helped me so much!!

    Very nice, thank you. I have a question: If I were using a pattern, and it was not a circle skirt but say a tiered skirt or like a prairie skirt, would I use the direction of the patches as the grain? I mean, when your skirts are done, the patches are diagonal. Is that recommended? Does the skirt not hang properly if you sew the skirt with the patches parallel to the floor? Ach, sorry I don't know how to phrase this. I hope you can understand what I am asking. Thank you!

      thankyou! :)
      i have no experience making patchwork skirts of other designs, but what you are saying makes a lot of sense. If the fabric isn't too stiff, it should hang quite nicely regardless.
      Sorry if this doesn't really answer your question!

      @tivagreen655  ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on how ruffled you want it! But at least 3x your waist measurement!

    Hello! I was just wondering what sort of stitch you used? and also how long did you make it? I am trying to make a skirt like the taiyo skirt.

    • @tivagreen655
      @tivagreen655  ปีที่แล้ว

      I just used a normal straight stitch. Honestly I can’t remember exactly but if it’s not patchwork then not too long!

    I love the skirts, can I ask how did you do the waistband, I mean how does it fasten, a zip or tie?

    • @tivagreen655
      @tivagreen655  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I made the waist bigger Than my actual waist and then elastic! :)

    Hi I'm new. What math formula did you to add with her measurements?

    • @tivagreen655
      @tivagreen655  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hi! i can't remember exactly, but i think i added about 10-20cm to her waist measurement so the top tear would fit over her hips :)

    Please, if you can, tell me how to decide the length of the strip that goes around the waist on the denim skirt.

    • @tivagreen655
      @tivagreen655  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It depends on how loose you want it, i did the waist measurement plus a bit of wiggle room. About 20-30cm. As long as it is bigger then you hip measurement so you can get it on!

    Sorry, I'm new to sewing, and I wanted to clarify, in the last skirt you first made a regular seam, and then made a French seam? I don't really understand:(( I'm hoping for your answer!!🧡🌻🌻

    • @tivagreen655
      @tivagreen655  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No worries! we all start somewhere! In the first skirt i did regular seams as the inside was lined with another fabric so you wouldn't see them. A French seam hides the raw edges and stops them from fraying, (search up how to sew french seams on youtube if want clear instructions on how to sew them!) This helped make the last skirt lighter because i could leave out the lining! hope this helps and let me know if you have anymore questions! :)
