Actually it was! They were gonna call it Ghostbusters III. Made a logo and all but Sony didn’t want it called that. So if you’re playing it… You’re actually playing Ghostbusters III.
I remembered on Halloween when I was in 8th grade, I went trick or treating in a custom-made Ghostbusters costume. I stuffed my backpack and added a nozzle protruding from the pack to give it the illusion of a Proton Pack. After going Trick or Treating, I returned home and spent the rest of my night watching Ghostbusters until I got the game a year later for my Birthday.
An amazing game and possibly the best Ghostbusters game ever made. If it wasn't for AVGN review of this game I would have never brought this game back in 2011. Sadly no ghostbusters game or future movie will ever be the same without Harold Ramis/Egon Spengler in my opinion. RIP Harold Ramis.
This game is by far my favorite Ghostbusters game. I always wished that it had a more open world environment. There are so many places that I wanted to go explore.
To be fair though, most games that have autosave make a point to tell you so. He mostly harped on the lack of save slots for more than one playthrough, which I too was disappointed with.

It was probably one of those "Doy!" moments the developer team had after the final product was sent to the publisher for distribution. _Damn it, should've implemented save AFTER mission and before cutscenes!_ I don't have a modern console so I still save to memory cards but at least many of my games happen to give me the message 'saving to card'. Do today's consoles not alert the player? That's how James would've been confused. If there's no checkpoint system (we all know means saving progress) at least have a visual otherwise we'd be scanning all the menu options in vain.
When they said that it was going to be backwards compatible, I bought it at my local used games store for over $60. And you know what? I FUCKING LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT!
Just finished this game. Can't believe i didn't get to it earlier as i love Ghostbusters. Fan service is amazing. For everyone who loved the movies this will not disappoint

Dude that's funny you say that, I bought this on Xbox when it came out and was weirded out the dude kinda looked like me. When my brother came over he even thought that I made the character in an editor or something. I was like nope, just happen to look like him...
The studio did an awesome job with game and got no love for it in the gaming community, which I thought was weird. I think only Ghostbusters fans really appreciated it.
James, you did this review without swearing once. Wow, that gives me an idea how much heart and soul you give to the Angry Video Game Nerd. To see your normal side was very surprising, and I'd like to see more of these in the future. Keep up the good work!
To be fair the PS2/Wii and DS ports of the game were very solid in their own right too. I believe the PSP version is good as well but has very long loading times.

Mr. Rolfe, I hope you do a special revisited review of this game in honor of its 10th Anniversary remastered release for the Nintendo Switch and the PS4. Especially for this month for Halloweentime.
This game is awesome! The only issue I had with it was on Prefessional difficulty. Your AI teammates go down way too easily and they don't even help each other up. Plus it takes you 3-5 seconds to help one of them up which leaves you open for an attack. Also like AVGN said, I'd like to drive the Ecto 1
Re-watched this while playing the remastered version of this that just came out, if you haven't played it or just want to purchase it again I would recommend it!

I hope they remaster this for PS4, XBOX 1, and maybe even Switch sometime soon. Make it real pretty with super detailed textures, add a retical so you know exactly where you're shooting, fix some of the bugs and jazz and definitely fix the saving thing that James mentioned. That would have screwed me too. I would love to see that.
I always fantasized the 3rd movie Harold Ramis will direct it and Egon character will be played by Jeff goldblum to make the character more stand out (^^) .. i even wrote fanfiction for that 10 years ago... lol

I grabbed this on Steam during the Halloween sale for only $2.50, and I was pleasantly surprised. The PC version has a few issues, namely forced mouse acceleration that can't be disabled and no multiplayer, but I still had a blast. It definitely felt like a proper addition to the Ghostbusters franchise.
Loved how the game expanded on Ivo Shandor and the cult of Gozer. Shandor was the evil ghostbuster of his time you get to see in the game how brilliant he actually was.
Little fact about the library level, after you defeat the Grey Lady/Librarian; after you go through the portal to the other dimension, you can see the underground library room you were just in. Look over to the right, and you'll see the room, along with the tunnels you took to get there.
Seeing the original ghostbusters and that recent one that flopped for many reasons thus game was the third one and I love interactive it was I hadn’t played it in four years but ps4 did a reboot and I was curious to see what happened I played and I remember why I loved it so much this game was a success in the ghostbusters world

They use a lot of the same script & locations, but the routes of the levels are different on the Wii Version, so you won't be doing the exact same thing as you would on the 360 & PS3 Versions. Plus the Wii & PS2 Versions have more of an Animated Look to the Characters, as opposed to the 360 & PS3 Versions. I like that though. I played the Wii Version & enjoyed it. The levels & gameplay were different, and Capturing Ghosts was fun with the Wiimote. I prefer the 360 version though to it. It feels more like a 3rd Movie.
