Thank you Rick for your excellent instruction. I so appreciate you explaining everything as you go along from paint color, to brush size, wet and dry paper etc. all so very helpful. Many thanks
Thank you, Rick, for sharing your knowledge and talent with us. I love watching your beautiful paintings evolve, layer by layer, and I appreciate your comments about your technique and colors, etc. I am re-entering the world of watercolor after many decades and feel like a beginner. My biggest challenge is in layering my paintings and finding the right color combos so as not to muddy my painting. It is a challenge and I am learning from you.
In this one particularly ,it seems that all the elements & principles of design plus the various watercolour techniques you have taught throughout the year in your tutorials have all come together to make a wonderful autumn painting.
Thanks so much for sharing plus the photo! The autumn colours are just so lovely I can’t wait to get started! We can never thank you enough for your superior instruction skills and your generosity. Thankful I found your videos and part of your FB group!
Love the big, bold brush strokes to paint shapes indicating the foliage. I always struggle with how to do that and end up making a bunch of dabs or blobs!
Superb Tutorial Rick. Really want to try this out. Also have been looking for more of your resent videos. Thanks again. Been telling my friends about your awesome techniques.
What was the maroon color you used as the darker co yeast of the trees and barn? Great vid. I put a request in to join your group on FB. Love your colors and style. Thank you for sharing these tutorials. ATB Louise
@@RickSurowiczWatercolor I just looked up quin. gold and I had the impression it was a lighter color of yellow. It is one of my favorite colors to buy in the future. The two mixed really are gorgeous. Thanks for that info. ATB Louise
I just discovered you on FB and have subscribed here. I'm striving to have a looser style and ease away from the realistic dry-brush style of watercolor that is a result of initially learning botanical illustration. I love the glowing transparency of this painting and have a question. How do you determine your color choices when veering from the actual color of the image in the photo (or real life)?? My painting from this same photo would have been so boring and yours is vibrant and beautiful!
I'm glad you discovered me on FB ! My color choices vary depending on what I'm trying to achieve. With this I wanted to say "Red Barn" without painting a red barn, while highlighting the colors of Fall. I worked with warm, cool, and complimentary colors. That being said, I can't lose my focus on "Value Contrast", the backbone of the composition.
