There's a lot of churches I've walked away from because I just can't feel Jesus there like I do around me when I pray or talk to Him. Just want to point out as well (as I'm sure others may have) that Brandan says that Lazarus was "left for dead" implying that he doesnt think he was actually dead, which means he doesn't even think Jesus performed a miracle. He is a man who discounts the supernatural work of Christ all while trying to use Christ for his own perversion. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if he denies the bodily ressurection, virgin birth, etc.

I used to be a progressive Christian just like Brandon, and have come a long way. Having come to terms with the fact that my modern worldview was irreconcilable with Scripture and the teachings of Christ, I have rejected homosexuality and have entered the Eastern Orthodox Faith. I know exactly where Brandon is coming from, and it may be difficult for heterosexual people to understand. It is not easy to deny such a central aspect of our personhood, and if one's identity becomes so enmeshed in their sexual desires it becomes less and less likely that one will come to a place in their heart where they can see clearly and seek true repentance. But one must decide ultimately what they want - the Life that Christ has to offer, or the rewards and pleasures of this world. We cannot serve two masters. Brandon wants to have his cake and eat it too. Pray for him that he desires God with a pure heart so he may humble himself and renounce his false preaching.
So glad to hear that you’ve repented! The problem of sexual sin(of any kind) is that it’s so easy for us to justify in the moment. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve said to myself “this is my last time watching this” or something of that nature. Now another big difference between sexual sin and any other sin is that it’s just so pleasurable. Few people get pleasure out of lying, stealing, using God’s name in vain, etc. Something I actually kind of like about Brandon is that he’s bold enough to admit his sin. On the other hand, he’s a total wolf and tries to justify such sin. I feel bad because sexual sin, whether heterosexual or homosexual, is something we all try to justify while we’re living in it, and deep down we know we’re lying to ourselves. Once again, glory to God that you have repented of that sin! Be blessed in whatever God brings you through!
I went to a church function the other day and a woman was wearing a shirt that said “We are all humans” and the word “humans” was colored in the rainbow/transgender flag colors. Most people were like “oh it’s not a big deal.” I had to ask her “if your husband cheated on you and then came up to you and said ‘Oh come on, we’re all human’ would you accept that excuse?” I can now add the question “would you wear a shirt celebrating pedophiles and those engaging in bestiality?” Thanks Pastor Jeff!

But Brandon is not someone who Christians are “partakers with,” (v.7) because we are not in Communion with him. He is fenced off from the Table of the Lord, excommunicate from the Church already. Romans 16:17-19 supports my position as it must be understood in light of the prologue in chapter 1. Brandon is already outside the church. He is not causing divisions within the church. Let him be dead in his sins, (Romans 1:26). Just ignore him.

Jeff, I'm tired of sinning and repeating, what should I do? Lately it got so bad, and I feel that God won't be there for me if I keep doing that. How many times will God forgive me, especially when I know that God exists and I know what I do is a sin, and I still do it. I regret what I did, I repent, but I still go back; and then again I repent. I even promised to God that I would stop pornography if he can held a family member (whichhe did), and after a couple of months, I went back; and now I am ashamed and I repent again. I feel I'm trapped. I pray to God for help and forgiveness. When I repent from pornography, the urge is not there, and I feel that it is not me, but God who did this; I don't feel that I am doing anything because it is the power of God; but then a few months later the urge is so strong that I fall into it. When I sin, I don't know why I sin. I get angry. I feel hopeless. I feel defeated. I get doubts, but at the same time I feel in peace. please advise.
Pray and fast and God will break the chains of lust. Memorize the last 3 verses of psalm 19; read and memorize verses in Romans 6 & 12. Romans 13:14. Call Jesus when the urge comes.
Do a thorough study of the book of Romans. Understand your miserable state as a condemned sinner. You’re only hope is the righteousness of Christ, which God offers to you as a free gift of grace by faith. You are justified before God not by your failed efforts to please God, but by the gift of Christ’s perfect righteousness, which you cannot despoil by your failures - take hold of Jesus’ righteousness, and ask God to find you the desire to love His righteousness; at the same time, God invites you to die to self with Christ on the cross, ie, crucify the flesh.
You need to get with some Godly believers who will help you and correct you when you fall. What the second comment put is so correct, your not earning your way to heaven by not messing up. That is a fruit, you hating the sin, and therefore growing in godliness! But get into a local church that holds the Scriptures as the authority, and teach form them for Gods glory!

I'd add to what others have said here by stating God needs nothing from you. Promising God you will do this if He does that is treating God like a genie that grants wishes provided you pull the right levers, or say the magical incantation, or perform some ritual perfectly. Bargaining with God isn't the way to go, and God didn't heal your loved one because of some promise you made. God delights in providing His children good things. But does your desire align with God's perfect will? God's perfect work was completed by Christ. Nothing you can do will add or take away from it. It is only by the imputed righteousness of Jesus that you or I will escape justice for the lives we have lived. It sounds like you have true remorse and sorrow for the evil you have done before God's sight. Are you taking every necessary step to avoid repeating the same pitfalls? Is pride, ego, embarrassment preventing you from enlisting your local church family's help or accountability. Are you being actively discipled by a Christian further along their walk with Christ? We are not perfect, never will be. Luckily the one man that was able was sufficient for us all. Delight in God's company. The Bible is clear...God will provide us an escape when we are tempted with sin. Delight in God's company and take everything to Him. Have faith that He is sufficient.

Take it even further, Jesus raising Lazarus, even for Christians, is not an indication that “God wants to awaken you” or “God wants to revive something in your life”, even imply that signifies that you’ve read YOURSELF, into the text. It’s sad,but it happens in a lot of churches. I am a Christian man, and sometimes the word of God is used to fit whatever narrative the person or pastor is preaching. It’s not just in the gay community. You have to preach the word unapologetically for what it is, not to fit a specific narrative.

I'm only up to about 18 minutes. Wow! I thought I'd heard every possible twisting/misuse of Scripture by the Alphabets in order to justify their sin. This one was new to me. It's not even creative. You don't really have to do a deep Bible study or go back to the original languages because it makes no sense even on a normal reading comprehension level. Even if you don't believe or follow the Bible, how can you get that interpretation from reading that account? It's obvious from the context that it's talking about a dead man named Lazarus who was raised back to life by Jesus and physically walked, "came out" of the tomb. That's grade school reading comprehension. Even if I believed the Bible supported this behavior, I would not use this passage to support it.
The problem is there are a lot of people who think nothing in the Bible can be taken at grade school level of comprehension. Everything is symbolic and points to something in your life. The fact that the Bible is overwhelmingly not about you and instead is about God and His sovereignty and character is lost on a lot of people. Of course part of that is because they don’t like the plain reading of the text in other places.
Unfortunately, Brandan doesn't even proclaim Christ. He has stated multiple times that Jesus is not the only way to heaven, but is only one way. He has proclaimed the heretical doctrine of universalism when sharing his ideology with his followers. We ought to be praying for this man to come and know the truth before it's too late.

Just want to point out as well (as I'm sure others may have) that Brandan says that Lazarus was "left for dead" implying that he doesnt think he was actually dead, which means he doesn't even think Jesus performed a miracle. He is a man who discounts the supernatural work of Christ all while trying to use Christ for his own perversion. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if he denies the bodily ressurection, virgin birth, etc.

I've watched this now for the 3rd time since the day of its release. I'm still laughing at that reaction.
I used to be a progressive Christian just like Brandon, and have come a long way. Having come to terms with the fact that my modern worldview was irreconcilable with Scripture and the teachings of Christ, I have rejected homosexuality and have entered the Eastern Orthodox Faith. I know exactly where Brandon is coming from, and it may be difficult for heterosexual people to understand. It is not easy to deny such a central aspect of our personhood, and if one's identity becomes so enmeshed in their sexual desires it becomes less and less likely that one will come to a place in their heart where they can see clearly and seek true repentance. But one must decide ultimately what they want - the Life that Christ has to offer, or the rewards and pleasures of this world. We cannot serve two masters. Brandon wants to have his cake and eat it too. Pray for him that he desires God with a pure heart so he may humble himself and renounce his false preaching.
So glad to hear that you’ve repented! The problem of sexual sin(of any kind) is that it’s so easy for us to justify in the moment. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve said to myself “this is my last time watching this” or something of that nature. Now another big difference between sexual sin and any other sin is that it’s just so pleasurable. Few people get pleasure out of lying, stealing, using God’s name in vain, etc. Something I actually kind of like about Brandon is that he’s bold enough to admit his sin. On the other hand, he’s a total wolf and tries to justify such sin. I feel bad because sexual sin, whether heterosexual or homosexual, is something we all try to justify while we’re living in it, and deep down we know we’re lying to ourselves. Once again, glory to God that you have repented of that sin! Be blessed in whatever God brings you through!
I went to a church function the other day and a woman was wearing a shirt that said “We are all humans” and the word “humans” was colored in the rainbow/transgender flag colors.
Most people were like “oh it’s not a big deal.”

Jeff, I'm tired of sinning and repeating, what should I do? Lately it got so bad, and I feel that God won't be there for me if I keep doing that.
How many times will God forgive me, especially when I know that God exists and I know what I do is a sin, and I still do it.

I even promised to God that I would stop pornography if he can held a family member (whichhe did), and after a couple of months, I went back; and now I am ashamed and I repent again.

You are justified before God not by your failed efforts to please God, but by the gift of Christ’s perfect righteousness, which you cannot despoil by your failures - take hold of Jesus’ righteousness, and ask God to find you the desire to love His righteousness; at the same time, God invites you to die to self with Christ on the cross, ie, crucify the flesh.
You need to get with some Godly believers who will help you and correct you when you fall. What the second comment put is so correct, your not earning your way to heaven by not messing up. That is a fruit, you hating the sin, and therefore growing in godliness! But get into a local church that holds the Scriptures as the authority, and teach form them for Gods glory!
You are suffering from an addiction that is as bad as being addicted to heroin. Seek counsel and accountability along with prayer and help from a trusted Christian friend or pastor. I'd add to what others have said here by stating God needs nothing from you. Promising God you will do this if He does that is treating God like a genie that grants wishes provided you pull the right levers, or say the magical incantation, or perform some ritual perfectly. Bargaining with God isn't the way to go, and God didn't heal your loved one because of some promise you made. God delights in providing His children good things. But does your desire align with God's perfect will? God's perfect work was completed by Christ. Nothing you can do will add or take away from it. It is only by the imputed righteousness of Jesus that you or I will escape justice for the lives we have lived. It sounds like you have true remorse and sorrow for the evil you have done before God's sight. Are you taking every necessary step to avoid repeating the same pitfalls? Is pride, ego, embarrassment preventing you from enlisting your local church family's help or accountability. Are you being actively discipled by a Christian further along their walk with Christ? We are not perfect, never will be. Luckily the one man that was able was sufficient for us all. Delight in God's company. The Bible is clear...God will provide us an escape when we are tempted with sin. Delight in God's company and take everything to Him. Have faith that He is sufficient.

It’s sad,but it happens in a lot of churches. I am a Christian man, and sometimes the word of God is used to fit whatever narrative the person or pastor is preaching. It’s not just in the gay community. You have to preach the word unapologetically for what it is, not to fit a specific narrative.

I'm only up to about 18 minutes. Wow! I thought I'd heard every possible twisting/misuse of Scripture by the Alphabets in order to justify their sin. This one was new to me. It's not even creative. You don't really have to do a deep Bible study or go back to the original languages because it makes no sense even on a normal reading comprehension level. Even if you don't believe or follow the Bible, how can you get that interpretation from reading that account? It's obvious from the context that it's talking about a dead man named Lazarus who was raised back to life by Jesus and physically walked, "came out" of the tomb. That's grade school reading comprehension. Even if I believed the Bible supported this behavior, I would not use this passage to support it.
The problem is there are a lot of people who think nothing in the Bible can be taken at grade school level of comprehension. Everything is symbolic and points to something in your life. The fact that the Bible is overwhelmingly not about you and instead is about God and His sovereignty and character is lost on a lot of people. Of course part of that is because they don’t like the plain reading of the text in other places.
