    A good video and it is good to see a retired engineer’s process applied to the task. Having viewed the second experience just goes to show that this is another an easy hobby!!

    It amazes me how well some watch repair people can get the hands in place. It looks so difficult to me. Great video!

      I think it takes the right tools and practice. And remember, they aren't trying to film their work at the same time. 😩

    Congratulations on a new, functional movement. Like you did, I started replacing parts and hands after watching watch maker perform this trick on TH-cam. They make it look so easy! I had the same experience you had with replacing the hands. I tossed the big cheap press and bought a set of pens to fit the hands! Still not easy, but much better. Now, after some practice, replacing hands is still not my favourite job, but I don't screw up my watch hands anymore. Success with your new seconds hand!

      @adventureswithtime  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Practice probably makes for perfection. But I hope I don't have to do this again to soon.

    Well done and I commend you on jumping in and expanding your knowledge about watch repair. The only way we learn is by doing and you're going to make mistakes along the way. Everyone struggles getting those hands on and lined up...especially that fiddly second hand! You push forward and you will ultimately succeed!

    • @adventureswithtime
      @adventureswithtime  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hope so. In hindsight I'm thinking I should have ordered two replacement second hands; in case I bend another. Oh well.

    Nice precise video. Before you button it up, maybe think about changing the oscillating weight for the original 4R one. Keep up the good work.

    • @adventureswithtime
      @adventureswithtime  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That change is more challenging. But I might try that in the future now that I have an extra movement to play with.

  • @quehorassao00

    I also bought tools to work with watches, my intention is to maintain my watches in good work and possibly I will make a project building my own watch. Great video as always and very brave of you by changing the movement, bravo,I am sorry it didn't work out at the first time but with perseverance, you will get there.

    • @adventureswithtime
      @adventureswithtime  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, making your own watch... that is a big challenge. How will you do that? Are you going to buy an existing case and dial or make your own? I assume you will buy an existing movement. Let me know how it goings. Maybe you should make some TH-cam episodes on this project.

    I decided to swap the movement on my Sarb017 when I dropped it and it stopped working 😓.
    I went through a very similar process to you, including research and gathering tools.
    The job panned out much the same way as yours. A very nervous time setting the hands though thankfully managed somehow to fit the seconds hand unscathed! I was sweating bullets though 😅.
    Can’t wait for the next instalment 👏

      Hey Craig, which movement did you replace it with? Another 6r15/NE15 or did you try a downgrade NH-movement?

    • @neverknowinglyunders
      @neverknowinglyunders 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did manage to source a genuine 6r15 for a good price. But I put it to one side and fitted an NH35 instead, it was a direct fit once you swap the movement ring/spacer over.

    • @SOCerberus94
      @SOCerberus94 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@neverknowinglyunders alright, My sarb035 is in need of a swap and service costs too much. I dont know how the sarb017 movement spacer looks like but mine has a simple metal spacer. I will give the NH35 a shot, thx

    • @neverknowinglyunders

      Imhotep , the Sarb017 has the metal spacer also (not sure if it’s the same dimensions).

    You know, it's funny. I found your channel right after I got into collecting watches and last week I decided I'm going to build my father a watch for father's day and get into learning how to do this sort of stuff. Stop copying me Bob!
    In other news I know you held off on that Tiffany because it cost an exuberant amount of money but I'm having a couple watches serviced right now by RGM Watches in PA and they specialize in vintage and antique watches. Take a look and see if they're able to help out.

    And would you please take a cup of Valium before you attempt to put the second hand on Mr Shakey hands because you do not have the hands to do this kind of work especially when it comes down to the second hands either take a couple of Valiums or a couple of good stiff shots of some booze to stop your hands from shaking
