Hello, the only time I've seen spurious dots everywhere on a timegrapher is when I'm talking, or there is a noisy background, or the gain control on the microphone is off. I suspect it's not a movement problem. Even with the above addressed, it needs about 30 seconds to settle down from the noise of moving the mic position, but you probably know that. The 4R3x movements are not the most accurate but they are very reliable. You're not going to get chronometer accuracy in every position from a $60 movement. I guess it could be a lemon, but I'm m thinking it's a microphone/noise problem and your movement is fine.

I think quartz watch owners would not be sharing your concerns.

This angle fascinates me. Why are you “thankful” that mechanical watches survived? They are inherently inferior in the vast majority of ways. In fact, in order to convince people to buy mechanical watches now you have to yammer on about “craftsmanship” and “nostalgia.” Both of which also apply to Quartz watches. Not having a go but I just don’t get why people value inaccurate and outdated methods of timekeeping so much that they’ll pay literally thousands of pounds to get it over electronically driven watches.

I have the dial that has smokeys face on it. For my taste this is hte kind of watch that can be my ONLY watch. I wear it almost everywhere!

Did anyone ever see a watch possibly from 60s or 70s that is made like a piano and comes in a piano black shaped case - Rock N Time - quartz - Bezel Metal and Stainless Steel back - it has never been worn - just stayed in mom's drawer for years - men or women's watch - or have an idea of the value?

My reason is nostalgia. To wear something now that was made when I was a small kid. It generates memories, emotional rushes about good times when I was 6 or 7 or 8. As for the money aspect, I did gain a couple of thousands overall on watches themselves, but then again, I did spend on extra straps, on service, and I still have most of the watches. Having bought most before COVID, I could recoup my costs, but the idea is to keep the watches. I do sometimes sell one to buy another, but only if the timing is right. That's how I sold a Milgauss with a solid profit, but in the framework of a 1960s Bart Simpson Submariner, so it was a good trade.

Your frustration is all too familiar for me with this problem. Also, on all of NH movements I put together the seconds hand pinion doesn’t seem to be as long as this movement. I even bought a tool from DIY watch club which was a waste of money. I’ll keep trying. Great videos

Buffing with the Cape Cod Cloth mitigates the scratches. Buff the excess polish off with a clean lint free microfiber towel. This process does not remove appreciable material from the watch. You will be pleased with the reduction in small surface scratches. Do not be fearful, it works well. Eventually you will have it professionally polished.

I really like the Marai 401. I would pull the trigger and order it but I am waiting on the Fior 555, Nomadic's GMT to decide between it or the Marai. Thanks for the non bias review

I believe I'm in the minority of commenters here. I think this is a gorgeous wristwatch. Certainly a piece of jewelry as one said., isn't that the reason we have case choices, strap choices, etc. You wouldn't wear this when timing a horse lets say, but you would for a nice dinner out. Stunning piece.

Thanks for the review. I certainly wasn't expecting a new release so close to Christmas. I am torn on limited editions but generally think they're not a good idea and are too often used as a vehicle to create hype and panic to buy a watch someone may not otherwise be interested in, and prevent those interested in buying one. Oris and Seiko do too many limited editions. This is a nice watch, I almost got it (black version), but I got the Propilot X Kermit instead. I don't think the skeleton dial is a timeless look and I don't believe this movement will receive support after one or two decades from now. I might be wrong.

For me, width is very important, some say it is a complication in itself. 3 mm is a huge difference. AND the Laco costs more money! It's a no-brainer for me.

For fresh viewers: it's magnetized. The timegrapher pattern and flactuation proves that. It has to be demagnetized. The movement is prone to magnetism, it should be kept away from possible magnetic fields or generating devices. So avoid this problem, some brands have already replaced balance wheels spring with silicium based or other anti magnetic materials.
