  • In this timelapse video I show you how I animate a character from beginning to end, using Adobe Animate and Adobe After Effects. The scene is from my upcoming short film "Auto Shop".
Let me know if you have any questions about my process, I'll be happy to answer them! And if you enjoy this content, check out the rest of my videos ✌️

Amazing work, I'm curious about two things, first how have you learnt to draw, are you one of the gifted kids that alway knew how to draw? second, how did you learn An?

      Thanks a lot!
I would say yes, I've been drawing since I was little so the switch to animation was definitely helped by that. Although, I really think most people are able to do awesome animation without being masters of drawing. I think learning the basic principles of animation and then applying them to their own style of drawing can result in awesome and unique animation!
Animate was something I learned recently while being an intern at CCCCCCC Studio in Copenhagen. But being used to Toon Boom Harmony beforehand made it a lot easier to get used to the program. It took me maybe a week's worth of working before I got a handle on it :)

Very nice Mathias! Look forward to seeing the short film! How long (approx) did it take you to do this scene from beginning to end?

Thanks a lot Enrique! The whole process took me just about 2 hours and 45 minutes (not including all my coffee and snack breaks of course!)

What's the frame rate of your AE comp?

I believe this shot was 30 fps in AE :) Sometimes I'll add Posterize Time to lower the frame rate to match the fbf animation made in Animate
