    The only reason i care about OrbusVR is because there are just no long-term VR games ANYWHERE, unless you consider games that use repetition as content ( beatsaber, recroom ) there are just no 40+ hr titles out there. (Or ports like skyrim/fallout)
    As long as thats the case I'll enjoy OrbusVR, just because It's something to invest my time in and has potential to grow into something better.
    That said - I despise OrbusVR Mage combat and Fishing, they're so finicky and precise they don't feel like a game but a giant frustrating chore, i don't want to practice spells for 10 hours in town and then still be failing regularly after.

    • @Gamingwithmatteo311
      @Gamingwithmatteo311  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I prefer quality over quantity. All games are repetitive, that's why the core mechanics need to be fun and exciting. A lot of MMOs "new content" is basically just reskinned enemies and locations

      @@Squishydew One? My point was more of the social aspect of a game. It's multi-player and there are apps like altspace that are purely for sozializing in that people have hundreds of hours on. Way more than 100 btw. Maybe gaming just isn't for you. If you want an mmorpg you can put hours into go play runescape and spend days hacking st the same tree. Pure form of rpg and the most repetitive thing ever.

    • @CReese-os8fc
      @CReese-os8fc 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@ragedrephaim5570 The social aspect is OK but then don't label it an MMORPG when it clearly isn't and most certainly don't charge a fee so high that you think it's a finished product like titles such as Skyrim VR which is basically a port over from the OG game.
      Steam charts have the player # listed as an all time total of 334 people. The average # of players at any given time never surpasses 20. Add oculus players on there giving them the benefit of a doubt I can't imagine it being more than 30 - so 50 players online in the ONE town and in such a small area sure - it does look really busy and popular.
      If you want an MMORPG to thrive you have to first off welcome new players with recognized standards such as things like an active quest/or being able to sort an inventory or at least compare your new items to what you have on.
      So if this was just labeled as a social game - OK, but don't call it something it's not and then expect not to get any flak from seasoned MMORPG players when it fails to be one on so many levels.

    I think what is the main problem with vr games that are like this is the lack of creativity with movement.
    Rarely do these games really think of a way to make movement around the vast open world easier and more fun. Seeing you teleport for only about 15 seconds already made me bored and I am not interested in sliding either, just because normally its either too slow or too fast and my control over myself can never be acquired.
    I want a game like this that really thinks about moving, not only for getting around the big world they make but also to maneuver around enemies, one idea i had for something like this is you are a really tiny person/ the enemies are HUGE and you have a tiny grappling hook you can use to throw yourself around the enemies. That would really feel cool and exciting and give me that feeling of im in another world.

    I read your thread on the forums I think and I 100% totally agree with what you stated. My gripe is that I actually never played the original game, so when I entered Reborn I literally had no idea what was going on and ran around confused due to incorrect information from the quest giver in reference to the map, the issue of lore quests kind of being tucked away versus the mission quests - Randall tells you right at the start to go get mission quests and then you see LOCAL with a icon bubble that repeats an inane comment, so upon finding Darius I saw the same icon and thought it would be the same thing.
    When I actually went onto the forums and made a post about my first day - I was immediately entered into PvP combat with generally the same player base that transferred the toons over.
    As a new player I was genuinely confused and frustrated and like you I', 42 and started back in EQ but basically spent my 20-30's in WoW, so when this was claiming to be the VRMMORPG I expected to see what's been the standard now for over 20 years.
    Core mechanics and misunderstood lore coming from Orbus original. Dragon racing? Why? Why can I actually join a dungeon at whatever level I want? How is it possible that I did the FIRST mission and jumped two levels? I played a scoundrel and it's considered DPS so where are my agility points? Why can't I see my % to crit?
    I played for about two hours and literally got a rare ring drop and cape from a WORLD BOSS because I plinked it with my pistol at LEVEL 7.
    New player influx has been in a steep decline. Most players don't even leave the starting area before giving up.
    I jumped on their forums and WoW just battle after battle with other members when all I was trying to do was show the dev team how an actual new player feels when entering the game.
    I posted a video doing a walkthrough and explaining the issues and got 10 hits from the forums, a disllike, two inane comments and a total of 10 hits from their site. Not one dev has every replied to me regarding anything I mentioned.
    Such a shame really and honestly I know that MMO's in general evolve and change over time but at launch should have a solid core vanilla engine.
    But all the seem focused on is end game content because they let the old players just put their toons on there so naturally they are starving for content.
    Sorry for the novel. Just agreeing 100%

    The original was much more fun in my opinion. Of course, there are some things that Reborn improves upon, but that falls short of what the original was able to accomplish. The original just felt more like an MMO. There was no level-scaling, there was a really good main story quest rather than quest vendors that are copy and paste content, grinding was much more useful, the world was much more detailed, the enemies were much more detailed, the bosses were super fun, the raid bosses were fun and hard, the final raid boss gave off a feeling of supreme power as a final boss should, etc. All of these things are more or less gone from Reborn.

      This is false, at least of 2022,the game has really good end game and a lot of content, rewards and mechanics to master, and the most frustrating part is people don't really get to sink in to the combat because the don't understand the core mechanics and roles and potential class customization, orbus is actually skill based and has to be mastered unlike you know *cough cough* Zenith. My recommendation is to talk to a level 30, which is max level,the community will be glad to help you.

    I feel the lack of a main story kinda ruined orbus reborn, the original was fun, because the main story was interesting, but reborn? it ditched the entire main story, and their are lore quests which piece together what happened in the 20 years since the original, but if you havent played the original, you have no idea whats even going on, otherwise the entire game is literally go to one of these main npcs who each have a quest every couple of levels, and go out and do this simple task like fish, kill monsters or world events, then return and repeat, they've killed the game in my opinion

      There was a major update with a main line story quest that was patched on the 11th. But that should of been well established at launch, so many new players who bought the quest quickly realized that it was not as described and refunded. Their main focus now is end game content to satiate the player base that was allowed to transfer their toons over but they didn't have a system in place for that, so OG Orbus players came over with only ten levels to obtain which takes less than three hours - THOUSANDS of stacks of mats - no extra grind like crafting. No new zones and ported over basically the same map so players already knew where to go what to do, etc. As a brand new player you start off just confused and the whole game just seems empty and obscure. I played for less an hour and was level 7 - two hours I was level 11. Not once did I join a group and almost halfway through to the cap I still had no idea how to actually play my class.

The other interesting thing I really liked about SWTOR was that you could create items and then sell them for credits to other players via a computerized interface.
