Nier Automata and Replicant are so good! I definitely think you would like them. Automata is a distant sequel to Replicant, but you might not even notice that they're connected if you weren't paying attention. There's a ton of hidden lore in the games but they're still great even without all of the hidden details.

I never get 12 hours into a game and still say "I'm trying to like it." If it hasn't grabbed me after four or five hours, then that's it for that game.
Same! 12 hours is a lot for something you really don’t enjoy. It’s like when people say that a game gets good after the 30h mark and you’re like “why the hell would I play for that long??”.
Usually, if I watch an hour of someone playing it I can tell if it will interest me. That was true of HZD. Somehow, the first hour of FW has seemed either boring or crazily relying new mechanics - I haven't played it in full disclosure. However, if I'm bored and I don't have to make the decisions in play - that's not good. If I don't sit there thinking, "I might have done this different" or "when I play this I won't make that mistake". Even if I intend on playing it blind (which I rarely do because I have medical issues that cause me to need to adapt play with a controller) it going to need to grab me. FW just doesn't grab me. Maybe because the story is too multi-faceted (or maybe it isn't and I'm just making it harder than it seems). Maybe I'm getting old and the idea of this much latitude is just outside my desire for a game. Not sure. What I am sure of is that this didn't grab me in the first few minutes like HZD. That's a shame because like Irene - i want to like it. Whenever I stop I feel fatigued, and whenever I think about resuming it I just don't want to do it.
