The 60GB PS3 launch model is almost $1K adjusted for inflation. Then a bunch of idiots decided to pay scalpers for PS5s for over a year. Considering most people are paying 50-100% more for groceries this year, this price should not be a shock. The bigger issue is that the PS5 'Pro' is not a great leap like the PS4 Pro was. Nobody NEEDS this, but it will still sell like crazy. Gamers do this to themselves every time.

I have an Xbox Series X, but I am not partial to any platform. I think that 1059 AUD is an absolutely insane price to play for playing games. Even the 700-800 for the PS5 and Series X felt really expensive to me. Even for games like GTA I would rather save up and get a PS6 or the next Xbox rather than blow my money on a slightly better version of the same console which can do essentially exactly what we expected from the PS5 in the first place

The digital consoles are not worth it when a manufacturer decides to brick the device on purpose when a newer console comes out and the new console is the main focus because it's making them money. The digital consoles are required to be connected to the internet and thru software updates the devices can be bricked intentionally when something new comes out. I would not be surprised if the digital consoles end up being the like the spotify car thing. There is no law against planned obsolescence and force arbitration since force arbitration can be included in the terms and conditions of the digital consoles like it's already happening with the roku devices. The digital consoles are the equivalent of tv streaming devices that are dedicated to mainly playing video games in a console form factor with the hardware specs of a console. For example, if both sony and microsoft decided that they want to enter the streaming tv boxes like it is with google with the chrome cast and apple with there apple tv device. For instance, the playstation device would be the playstation tv and the xbox would be called the xbox tv. There is a possibility that both the playstation and xbox will end up being a glorified version of the smart tv devices with hardware that is more powerful and more storage than there smart tv counterparts.

A 7700xt PC is around 800 and more powerful than the pro, more games, more features and customization. Plus in a year or two or however long you can upgrade to next gen GPU with even better performance for 4-500. PC will always beat consoles, period. If a series S held back the series X so will the PS5 non pro hold back the pro. If it doesn’t it PROVES! it was lazy devs.
You could also go all new parts with this build, downgrade the cpu so its a 5600/7700xt build and its still not at 850 all said and done. This is bad value from Sony. 600 is what they should have did instead

I genuinely think it's a great and needed technical upgrade. This is on AMD for being behind the curve with the original PS5 GPU features. The AI upscaling is HUGE. If you've ever used DLSS and compared it to FSR the difference is night and day. PSSSR is going to make games look incredible on a gaming monitor. But yeah, it's not for most people and that's okay.

Honestly, I think everyone can agree that with what you’re getting out of what you pay for, you’re not going to be getting your money's worth getting a PlayStation five Pro. You don’t even get a stand when you buy a PlayStation five Pro because it’s got the width of the PlayStation five slim and the height of the original OG PlayStation five. So it’s taller and just as thin as the PlayStation five slim, so it’s bound to tip over at some point, and I think most people would want to decrease the chance of your system flopping over by getting a stand for it unless you have a couple bookshelf stands that you could put on each side to keep it from falling over. Plus, the big three just doesn’t seem like it’s going to be that much of a bigger upgrade. Now yes, I will admit that it is definitely an upgrade that is decently better than what we have on the PlayStation five and the PlayStation five slim. But I don’t think the big three being the big part of what the upgrades are about for the PlayStation five Pro justifies that three to $400 increase to what the PlayStation five and PlayStation five slim models cost. I can maybe see 100. Maybe $160 would be pushing it, but at max $160 to buy the PlayStation five Pro, but I wouldn’t say anything more you should pay for to get a PlayStation five Pro unless for some reason you have an amount of income to where you can dispose of that kind of money. Or if you happen to have the money laying around somewhere and you don’t have a PlayStation five of some kind yet, yeah, I would say this is obviously the most powerful version of a game console so far, so you would want to play GTA six or other PlayStation five games that come out. But if you don’t have the money laying around, or even if you do still have the money laying around and you have a PlayStation five or a PlayStation five slim, I think you are still good enough and it’s not really needing an upgrade quite yet. Maybe when the PlayStation six comes out, but as of now, if you have one of the first two models, I think you’re OK and don’t necessarily absolutely need the upgrade. Performance-wise, it does just fine with every PlayStation game available on Fidelity and performance mode. And I personally think that it’s going to run GTA six just fine, obviously not as well as the PS five pro, but I do think that the PS five and PS five slim are going to do a phenomenal job still. Even without the big three, I still think it’s going to do a phenomenal job at running GTA six. So any consumer, just save your money for a PS six or PS six slim if you want to get the PS six cheaper. That way, hopefully, the PS six is going to have even bigger upgrades than the PS five pro. I feel like at that point you will be getting your money's worth, at least hopefully, if Sony doesn’t keep going downhill with this big stab in the back they did with the PS five Pro. Just cross your fingers and hold out hope; hopefully, things get better.
The problem is mostly down to developers not adding Graphics options in their games on console. From what I've gathered, the situation is getting better, but not as standardised as on PC.
My question is between the PS5 Slim and the PS5 Pro? Which will be the best purchase for someone who has a 1080 TV? I play Destiny2, will it be worth buying the PS5 pro because of one or two games?!
Your 1080p will barely be able to take advantage of what the ps5 offers. Unless you plan on upgrading your t.v., a ps5 is perfectly fine. Them just adding the tape to the ps5 in the video is definitely accurate to what sony did with the graphics not getting as much if jump as we all wanted. All the ps5 pro really does is make fidelity mode run at a consistent 60 to 120 fps on the 4k and 8k tvs that can take advantage of it.
I don’t have any game discs I was a casual gamer and I would like to get into it with the higher tech so if you someone like that and have the money just get it.
That's because an additional TB of storage that they should have had four years ago, and a WiFi standard that nobody is going to utilize is not that impressive. The outrageous price and lack of disc drive is far more impactful to the majority of the majority of consumers.
Wait, you're telling me that Sony is making another terable business decision in their long line of terable business decision. I'm shock. Shock I said. That people are surprised. 😂😂😂
tbh many games like Jedi Survivor, Cyberpunk and Immortals of Aveum look absolutely terrible at 60 fps on ps5 so im actually really looking forward to this. Especially PSSR can fix this big problem modern games have due to FSR basically destroying image quality
I'm curious what Sony will do with all the backlash. Maybe they will work to include the disc drive for the $700 price and make disc-less $650? I doubt it, but never know.
After bein a console gamer my entire life since the SNES, I’ve gone full PC this generation after owning a PS5. This is the closest consoles have ever gotten to PC in performance but also in price and it continues to go up. With the lack of new AAA games and many of them going to PC anyway, it just made more sense to spend more for a PC that will outlast this console bc the games get cheaper, free online, vastly superior performance, and importantly to me never having to worry about backwards compatibility in the future bc I know my games will always be accessible down the line regardless of whether I upgrade my PC. The one thing console has going for aside from ease of use is price and it’s gotten too expensive to game on console even if it’s less upfront. I refuse to pay to play online yearly and games get way cheaper on PC over time
I'd be interested in seeing the Price to performance you can get if you were to do a full setup of a PS5 pro, to include an optimal tv and other accessories, versus a build it yourself computer with all of the accessories that is limited by the overall budget of what it cost for the PS5 Pro setup.
Is it worth it? It's $965 in Canada plus tax. It's over a $1000 for that thing. Why would you spend that money? Just buy yourself a gaming laptop or pc. Everybody, keep your ps five and your playstation.Four
I was looking forward to finally upgrade from my PS4 Pro, stepping into PS5 with full power. I will probably still do it but I was hoping for more, pretty disappointing to see no drive and 2tb which is upgradable anyway.
Xbox is in a poor situation but even with the PS5 pro's outrageous price it will still sell well people will buy it, Xbox can't come out with a pro as no one is going to buy it, they've tarnished their brand, they've more or less stopped are hardly making exclusives anymore as gamepass has ruined their business as it provides too much value and no real incentive to buy games on the system and seems like they will be going 3rd party/a publisher I doubt they'll make another console. And with no direct competition ofc Sony would price the highest amount they could plus they most likely saw how many people were willing to pay the scalper prices for their product so thought why not price it that way regardless.
The real question that everyone has on their minds is how far can the performance on any gaming platform, whether it be a console or PC, be taken until the differences between the two are so minute that you can't even tell them apart? You can only take things so far until they become absolutely unreasonable.
Fifty-one seconds in I realized that this show was both for 12-year olds and by 12-year olds. And regarding PCs, the $850 PC that I bought in 2020 not only allowed me to do everything a PC does, including edit video, but I added a 4080TI to it recently and it is STILL more powerful than a PS5 Pro (which hasn't even been released). *You cannot upgrade a console. PC for the win.*
This is the problem! Console historical inexpensive pricing has changed my friends. As consoles reach PC performance and standards, they will also automatically cost more to PC standards. $699 for the upgrade the Pro gives you is totally justifiable. To build a PC like the PS5 Pro would probably cost you more, not to mention the parts as well. If you wanted to upgrade, it would cost you hundreds of dollars, too. People need to get over the rising cost of consoles and accept that if you want games to run close to or as PC performance well, then you have to pay. If not, stay with what you currently have, PS5 or Series X, and don't complain. I game on an LG G1 Oled 65-inch TV. The Pro makes sense to me. Gaming on this TV with the Pro will look & feel ridiculously awesome. I welcome the Fidelity boost and performance without having to sacrifice one over the other.
I think a lot of that price is down to the 2TB SSD. The Series X at 2 TB is pushing $600 so I think it's definitely possible that the PS5s faster SSD and overall setup is very expensive.
So basically it's geared towards people that play in performance mode. I usually play in quality mode because I prefer the extra resolution so I wouldn't really gain anything anyway
0:00 Is PS5 PRO worth it? Well.... It absolutely doesn't and it clearly time to keep your money and teach Sony a lesson ! Sony is trolling at this point
The annoying thing in the uk is not the exchange rate that makes it over $900 , but the fact that unlike previously they have not reduced the sterling number. They are doing an Apple. In fact to get the pro and disc drive, given the current exchange rate would be the equivalent to $1020. $699 = £534 (current rate).
I have a PS4 Pro upgraded with a large SSD that served me well for years. I finally decided to get a PS5 and went with a Slim w/disk drive instead of the Pro. $700 is really $800 when they don't give you the drive or the stand. If they had included the disk drive for $700 I would have gone for the Pro
Dang, both of your channels had videos about the PS5 pro within 3 hours of the announcement. Can't miss the hype train for that precious precious revenue lol.
For a similar price you could get a PC that while less powerful would still be competent enough to be more appealing given the massive game library, mods, and emulators by comparison, especially if you loaded it up with SteamOS or ChimeraOS to mimic a game console.
Two things: 1) Sony needs to recoupe the $100 million spent on Concord. 2) Sony wants to remove the sticker shock from PS6 when it comes out in four years or so by having consumers make peace with the increase now, even if the sales of the PS5 pro are not great.
Do you remember when everybody bullied Sony to turn in the PS4 Pro exorbitant price down to a reasonable one? I think we need to do that as a community again to the PS five and knock it down from 700 to reasonable 500.
I am unfollowing a lot of gibberish youtubers after this headlines like "ps5 is super cheap". Thank you for being honest and on point instead of comparing apples and oranges by telling go build pc instead like some knuckleheads say. I can not create a presentation for work or school on ps5 pro. It will get old as fast as old gens before you even know it. Not worth it PERIOD. Some obtuse people forget one point that you pointed out: upgrade your tv that runs at 120 fps. Not only good but realistic points. You will pay much more per enhancement or upgrade. Not worth it. Enjoyed watching it.
Well, it’s more important to call, text, email, work, video call family, friends, boss, etc. than to play a system that maybe looks a bit better on some games.
Do you recall the circumstances surrounding the PS5's UK launch? The disc version was priced at £450, but due to scalpers purchasing the entire stock and reselling it on eBay for approximately £800, it was unavailable in stores. A similar scenario is anticipated, with PS5 Pro eBay prices reaching £1200 instead of the official retail price of £700. Despite the high cost, individuals will likely purchase the console as Christmas gifts for their loved ones. Sony's decision to release the PS5 Pro in November appears to be a wise move in light of these circumstances. It would be nice if Sony sort out this issue and make some hard checks on scalpers at official partner shops when selling PS5 Pro's so real gamers can enjoy it first and for real retail price.
Good points made. I had a phat and slim. Sold the slim but kept the ssd, stand, games, and controller, knowing the pro was coming. I will STILL have to buy the disc drive for my games, which means $850 after taxes... I'm an adult homeowner with a career and no kids, and I am telling you that they're insane.
Honestly this price point makes a lot of sense to me personally. We can’t get comparable graphics to pc if they don’t put comparable hardware to a pc and to get a pc that can play these games you are looking at 1000-1500. 60+frame rate with fidelity mode graphics and it’s half the price of a pc still.
The ps5 pro is expected to sell 10 million units and that would be a success at that price when the ps4 pro sold over 14. However the price is to make everyone a custom to a higher price for the next gen. It's a social game, get customers use to the price with a niche product first and early.
Comes with a 2tb ssd- $150, controller- $70. Total of $220. Better graphics, better performance. Newest console they have to offer. Original ps5 is priced at $500. Price isn’t that bad. The bigger issue is that the PS5 'Pro' is not a great leap like the PS4 Pro was. Nobody NEEDS this, but it will still sell like crazy. Gamers do this to themselves every time.

Good question

Im shocked that no one is mentioning the fact that the Pro will not exceed 120FPS. Thats just pathetic.
144-240FPs would of been worth 700$
Right? I was excited when the leaks were showing 144+ fps, i was gonna switch from xbox, but its just a normal ps5 with slightly more eye candy 💀
That's fine. I just want MORE games on 120fps. I want GTA6 at least on 60fps. If not then it's totally useless. A scam.
WiFi 7 suprised me. I thought they would save that for the PS6 and wireless PSVR 3.
its crazy consoles are still struggling to get 60 fps when it has been status quo for PC for it seems a decade now.
It's the devs the consoles are capable of 60fps-120FPS the devs need to step up
The problem is mostly down to developers not adding Graphics options in their games on console. From what I've gathered, the situation is getting better, but not as standardised as on PC.
Every single PlayStation 1st party game has a 60fps option
Wait, wait, off topic but what about concord ? What happened to that game ??
Short and straight forward answer fucking hell no
My question is between the PS5 Slim and the PS5 Pro?

Microsoft has almost killed Xbox, Sony says: hold my beer! Is PS5 Pro is DOA.
Xbox is not drying your over reacting
This is the problem! Console historical inexpensive pricing has changed my friends. As consoles reach PC performance and standards, they will also automatically cost more to PC standards. $699 for the upgrade the Pro gives you is totally justifiable. To build a PC like the PS5 Pro would probably cost you more, not to mention the parts as well. If you wanted to upgrade, it would cost you hundreds of dollars, too. People need to get over the rising cost of consoles and accept that if you want games to run close to or as PC performance well, then you have to pay. Two things: 1) Sony needs to recoupe the $100 million spent on Concord. 2) Sony wants to remove the sticker shock from PS6 when it comes out in four years or so by having consumers make peace with the increase now, even if the sales of the PS5 pro are not great.

Clearly xbox is consumer friendly over ps though it could get a wee bit expensive there too .
I mean think about iPhones, they’re 1200+ and it has the largest ecosystem
Not even a little bit!
Better than spending $2500 on a pc. Even then, it’s completely up to you. If you want better performance, spend $200 on the upgrade. If not, then don’t
I dont understand why everyone is crying really when its 2TB
Pro games are gonna be hella more storage
Boooo sony !!!!!! i have the og Disc Version IM NOT GANNA SPENT 900 on you 😂😂😂
no amount of excitement from you is going to convince us to buy this.....
i'm just going to upgrade my 3070 to a 4080 super.....
"$700 for the new PS5? ..That's WAY too much." - RTX 4090 owner. 😁
So your PC with your RTX 4090 and other peripherals & components (monitor(s), cpu, ram, ssd, etc.) is worth how much? 1500 or 2000 dlls?
@@wicho80well, that pc can run ps games, Xbox games, pc games, old games, new games, emulators, can also be used to work, and won't be needing an upgrade in a ton of years, plus, games on pc are cheaper, epic games literally gift us games every week, online is free... Yeah, it's totally worth it.
@@wicho80That 4090 is by itself $1500-$2000, so the rest is atleast another $1000, so $2500-$3000 or more is worth it? Heck no, because with some games nowadays even that 4090 has a hell of a time just doing 4k 60fps. So yep that's worth it for that much. lol
@@wicho80yes bc it’s 4x better than this whole damn console if not more. That pc will be high end for 5 years minimum. That’s not including how long u can use it for. This is a waste of money period bc they are going to lie to u like they did with the ps5 and xsx so u will never really get the full performance of this console like u would with the 4090 period. I have a rtx 4090 with a 7800x3d, 32GB of ram and 2 ssd for about 2800 at the time I got it. Console are supposed to be cheap not pc pricing bc u might as well spend the other 100 to get a Ight pc that u can do more with in the future
@@kamishiro5 Won't be needed to upgrade in a ton of years?! C'mon! Let's be honest... in five years you'll need to upgrade the GPU of your PC to run AAA games and you'll spend 1500 dlls, but hey! you will be able to run the oldies games and emulators (which I can do it in a series S). Yeah totally worth it XD
question? should i get a ps5 pro for $700 or Apple Wheels for $700?
Not to mention if you want to get the true pro experience you actually have to pay 810 dollars since the fucking stand and disk drive are sold separately
Xbox it's time to announce a price drop for the series x and announce the handheld yall been working on
That would be killer, especially in Japan
@Twiz301 eh that might be a bit to far. Japan is the land of Nintendo and PlayStation. Apparently Xbox had a huge surge of interest due to price increases but there are so few people there even a 100% increase isn't super impressive
Xbox needs to capitalize on this major L though and shove it in our faces why we should be playing on their platform and not playstation
I agree, for the specs I could see why $700 but if a competitor is really making moves it may force them to offer a 1tb model with AT LEAST the stand all for $600
I’m excited for the new console! For those that can’t afford it, it’s not a big deal, it won’t get exclusive games. I don’t like when people have views negative about something that is a luxury and not a need.
