- In this episode I remove the engine and gearbox ahead of replacing the clutch, flywheel, timing belt and timing chain. This way is far easier than how many people do it, allowing you to leave the radiator, coolers and bumper in place.
I thought it was already pretty easy removing these engines (I've done it 5 times now on me and my mate's projects), but this just makes it so much easier, will be doing this when I put my big turbo on, I usually pull the front end, and keep the driveshafts in place, but this looks way easier and less hassle, cheers!
Interesting, I didn't know pulling it from the front let you leave your drive shafts on. I guess it is not all that much more effort from the front.
ive done a bunch of lower front subframe fwd cars. its amazing to see a top hood raise engine finally. thanks for the confidence!
Brilliant video
Fantastic video but I think you've inspired me to sell it. Tons of works and parts I can't afford. My MK5 needs a clutch, flywheels, starter, brake issues, motor issues, headliner, wiper pump, new radio and some minor body work for starters even though it was driving not long ago...
I’m not sure what you’re planning to buy instead, but it’s the most reliable car I’ve ever owned.
Great video
like the channel a lot! good videos. keep it up
got a mk5 jetta. need to pull the head. thinking of just pulling the engine to do a overhaul in the garage
nice work mate
Mmm I've just pulled two motors out using both methods as AC wasn't an issue for me. But pulling the front end off way by way alot easier and faster. Has previous experience so both were at the same level of knowledge. But yeah recommend front end off makes life sooooo much easier.
How, what didn't you remove that I did?
You can take the condensor off and tuck it to the side and still take the front end off.
will a tsi 6 speed transmission fit an fsi 6 speed transmission?
Hello I currently have a Golf 5 Gti with the AXX engine mark, I had to buy a new engine with the mark because the old one was broken, I wonder if I can do a swap from a newer year BWE engine?
I would think so, I would definitely keep all your sensors and injectors off the old one. That is where the changes would lie.
Can you do this with an mk7?
can you come over and help me pull my motor
Reckon this would work with a TDI?
I would think so.
U didn’t have to take the axel out
Pretty sure you do
