What I love about Carey, is his posture. Most drummers hunch over. He has a tremendous core to be able to maintain his upright drumming posture!!

Just the other day I noticed how his elbows stay almost stationary through the entire performance almost literally in the same spot in frame. And it has had me mesmerized just watching his f****** elbows LOL

Hardly anyone ever notices, but Danny actually messes up in the last chorus in this song, but is such a beast he totally catches it like a champ

Depending on the day, my favorite drummer is Billy Cobham, or Bill Bruford, who heavily influenced Danny Carey. Hard to compare greatness, but Danny is right there.

At the point you said that you couldn't keep that pattern, Danny is literally doing 3 different patterns at once. The square and circle pattern you were talking about is correct but throw in a triangle with your foot as well

Mitch Mitchell, Jimi Hendrix's drummer on most of his albums, is one of the best drummers of all time and never gets enough credit. Hendrix reactions are tricky though, because his family keeps a tight grip on their copyrights and block TH-cam videos as soon as they can.

Danny CARE-Y is one of, if not the, best drummers of all time. Really only rivaled truly by Neil Peart (PEE-ert), of RUSH. 100%
Been a Rush fan since 1978, so Neil will always be #1, but Danny is a very close #2.
Danny is the best alive but I gotta go with John Bonham as the GOAT. No disrespect to Neil, he was technically perfect, but never laid down grooves like Bonzo.

In my opinion one of the best metal drummers in the world at the moment is Eloy Casagrande who plays for Sepultura, if you are interested check out his drum cam performance of the song Means to an end : th-cam.com/video/dQe3EwkPcFU/w-d-xo.html for me its apex drumming, right up there with the other greats like Danny or Thomas Haake of Meshuggah.
