Its a win-win trade he was now an expensive luxury for the cubs they can now fill other needs. The yankees need a good defensive player in Bellinger who should hit well with their minor league right field in Yankee Stadium.
Also the Cubs don't need Bellinger after getting Tucker and they also have Michael Bush to play 1st base. Yes they need to address 1st base. Nobody other than the Yankees was willing to take that contract. I do believe Bellinger will bounce back with the Yankees in that stadium. Yes is a win-win trade.
Good fit for everyone. Bellinger fits in CF and can spell at 1B. Cubs didn’t have anywhere for regular ABs and clears room to sign a pair of relievers and can cover for the trade of a SP. Also, I’d be floored if Bellinger opts in next year. He most certainly will be opting out to seek a multi year deal.
Yankees get a B+. It fills a need but isn't the biggest sizzle. Cubs get a C+ but the trade was simply opening the 24M in CBT. That's what their side of the trade was for.
Why does every team just give the Yankees superstars away for free? Look at the Jazz Chisholm trade, the Devin Williams trade, and now this trade. Yankees don’t even have a good farm system, but they still trade for superstars.
Man y’all need to pipe down (no Diddy) each team has an owner that can spend, it’s just the willingness that isn’t there. If your not keeping the great or even good the players your team produces it’s because your owner doesn’t want to pony up the cash. Just look at the Braves, an example of what to do if you don’t want to pay major cash in the future….LFGM😊
Im a die hard cubs fan no spot in lineup for cody sorry to see him go but he will shine in new york its not about anything else cant pay 25 mill for pinch hittér
Because Bellinger became a redundant luxury. With Happ is LF, PCA in CF, and Tucker in RF, there was no place for him to get solid playing time. Suzuki will DH and spell the corner OF. Busch was as productive and cost about 1/30th. Now they have roughly 50M to shore up the bull pen and have space to see if Ricketts will change his tune on big contracts to re-sign Tucker.
He’s gonna be so bad on the Yankees. And this is coming from someone that drafted him in fantasy when he had his comeback year. So this is coming from a Bellinger fan. I don’t think this is gonna work though.
Yankees dodgers final 2025. Take the interest out of baseball. I will not be watching because it's already cut and dried. Small market teams done have a chance.
We are sick of the super teams. Salary cap no tax junk. No not good for 90% of baseball fans/teams. Have no real shot . Only rich get richer and leave us behind. smalr city teas. talet o's will lose their players to them in 4 or 5 years if not sooner. they show $$$ and reload. we can't in dems run state and $$ not even lose.
I’m sure the small market teams get luxury tax revenue or something for the teams who go over the luxury tax but they refuse to put money back into the team. They prolly pocket the money
@@mantlecollectornot exactly true by any means and you can avoid by paying guys thirty years later 😂😂 All these leagues outside of the NHL are a joke anymore
@@cowboysnation3472 Through its luxury tax rule, the MLB sets a payroll threshold each season. If a team exceeds this amount, it is taxed for every dollar it goes above the year's limit. This money is then disbursed to smaller market teams who are nowhere close to reaching the payroll maximum.
The cubs have won a World Series more recently then the Yankees. Stop crying and realize baseball has a greater parity for championships compared to nfl and nba. Leave baseball as it is
MLB has become a 3 team league. And it has the potential to be this way for the foreseeable future. 90% of MLB fans are supposed to be excited about what exactly?
Another for nothing trade. Poteet. Lmao. Bellinger and Williams for a bag of balls with no balls in it. Good for them. And Yankee fans wanted to fire Cashman 100x in the last month n half.
I’m a Cubs fan and I love Bellinger. I’m actually happy for him to be a Yankee. I think he’s gonna be great there and he deserves it.
Cubs fan here…Belli is great in the outfield and at 1st base. I watch almost all the games and in 2 years I don’t even remember him making any errors
Dodgers fan here …this Yankees team is way better than that losing World Series team with Soto .,
Absolutely
I'm happy for him he my team now let's go yankees in 2025 💪💪💯💯🇵🇷🇵🇷🙏🙏

On defense, CODY is good both in the outfield and at first base.
F for cubs A+ for yankees
They said cody os playing center....so walker etc is in play

It's a win-win trade
It'll be funny at the intro presser to see Cody Bellinger shaved up looking like a Yankee. Clean shaven Cody will look like a teenager.
Poteet pitched well for Yanks in a short span until he got hurt. He has good upside.
Cody is playing CF Judge back to RF

I hope he dominates. I’ve always been a fan. He can definitely handle the spotlight. ( Red Sox fan )
I’ll give you $51 to not talk about Detroit 😁✌
The real question is how many father , sons have played for the Yankees

😂😂😂
Nice move
Cubs went over the tax LAST year. Just barely by like 200k
The Fried announcement was delayed as Fried was traveling out of the country.
Bellinger doesn't cut it with losing soto
Stop hating bum
Cubbies desperately wanted to dump this has been. Looked no further than all time patsy, Cashman.
Soto could have been on a real team...not a second fiddle LOL
Holy crap that Tigers guy so annoying. You handled it well. I guess going forward probably worth turning off for breaking news.
A+

A for Yankee's b-, for the cubs
Bellinger is a great player, but you never know what kind of Bellinger youre going to get in a particular year
Dodgers vs Yankees 2025 rematch
Walker will cost them two draft picks. 2nd and 5th round
So if the angels send their top prospects do the cubs spend 80% of the contract
Heard Blue Jays were used as leverage by the Cubs too lololol
😅😅😅
I haven't seen anything about this
If Yanks get Teo somehow, they'll be singing "Soto Who?"
Im a die hard cubs fan no spot in lineup for cody sorry to see him go but he will shine in new york its not about anything else cant pay 25 mill for pinch hittér
I see a Goldschmidt for one year so they can go after vladdy next year and then they go trade for Nolan Arenado
What did the Yankees give up in trade value?
Nothing
Just waiting for Nado trade
Yankees need to trade for Randy Diaz
Who is Randy Diaz?…twin brother of Yandy?
It’s only a win if the cubs use their money that they saved elsewhere
That lineup still needs work, on the weak side.
Wtf are the Cubs even doing. They aren't good enough to win why trade for tucker just to offload belli?

Toronto still at the airport waiting on ohtani 🤡🤣🤣🤣🤣
i’m acubs fan and we had to get rid of him so A i guess?!
just a re-allocation of resources. Cubs deep at OF, need to use this money on an IF bat like Bregman, then trade Shaw for Luzardo straight up
Isn’t Cody’s wife , Stanton’s ex girlfriend?? . Awkward situation
Cody poteet
He’s gonna be so bad on the Yankees.

i disagree. Implement a relegation system to demote teams who dont compete. Fixes it all.
Boy am I happy they got rid of a player in his prime

5 million a year goes to the Yankees
