Tempo can be saved. When done in song mode. Simply add 1 or more of your sequence to a song. It will then save to memory and load back up. and you dont have to go back to song either.
I wish I would have bought a SP1200 in the 90’s when they were still making them.
Rossom makes a SP 1200 now and its $4000, practically identical to the original.
Dope beat! There is a "trick" to copying sounds so that you can independently truncate them that works on the SP1200 and the Rossum (not sure if it works for the SP12 though). ToneLab did a video on it. Basically, you copy the sound to a new pad, rename it, save it to disc, delete the sound from that pad, then "Load Sound #" to load the newly saved sound to the new pad. This gets you a true copy that you can independently truncate (playing the copy is no longer just triggering the original sound).
I'm not sure this trick would be that helpful if you're sampling from a 404 because you may not be using your SP as much to chop up your sounds. If you're recording to the SP directly off the wax then the advantage is that you can record, for example, 1.5 seconds of a drum break (kick, snare, hi-hat), then copy that across 3 pads and then truncate each sound to get your kick, snare, hi-hat. This saves you from having to record from the vinyl a bunch of times to get your drum sounds. The same theory applies to any sample really. The problem with the SP12 is that you will hit a memory wall faster due to less sample time.
This thing sounds so good I'd love one
There’s a lil device you can coo to save your samples to your iPhone, I believe it allows you to have more then 5 secs which is legendary
Oh man I'm definitely looking into that
Sorry . It will not give you more than 5 seconds. But it works great saving
Cool video! Beautiful SP! If you get into song mode and throw a couple sequences in it should save the tempo.
Dope beat, and clean unit! I have a Turbo, too, and yeah, the back does get HOT: one could prob fry and egg there!
Hahaha if you know you know
so nice
Good Video man.. the SP12 is a beast.
Just bought an sp12 a couple months ago. Been collecting dust for lack of a proper tutorial. Thanks for this. I may use the spa404mk2 with mine as you have. Keep up the great work I appreciate it.
Let me know if there's anything your having trouble with. It's indeed hard to find detailed tutorials on this machine.
❤nice horn
WHEN YOU HAVE THE LOW PASS FILTER ON THE KICK IS YOUR CABLE HALF PLUGGED IN?
Rossum should do a SP-12 TURBO color way on the Rossum SP-1200.🤔
What did you pay for it? Looks good, it's been well looked after by the previous owner.
$2150, I feel really good about that price
@@dakodabrant123 That's a good price indeed.
The heat from the power has nothing to do with the sound of the machine 😂
Actually it does, as with most Analog gear the sound changes as the unit warms.
@@HOLLASOUNDS The SP has an analog filter but it’s a digital sampler
@@solarbabies9682outputs are analog that’s why you got DAC on the outputs which means digital to audio converters.
This video would be so much better if it’s shot from top down view
