      no its if the Macbook pro and Surface Pro had a baby and a 3DS changed the DNA strand that defined its size to a small one

      The only people who think PC is "better" at everything are either broke teenagers who've never actually owned a Mac, or a gamer with no familiarity beyond specialized desktops and clunkier "gaming" laptops. (Or just kids trying to look cool, but they tend to fall under one or both of the prior categories.)
      Ignoring the ultra-portable categories like ultrabooks: PC's are cheaper and generally have better performance/software flexibility, but at the expense of hit-or-miss build-quality. Whereas Macs are ridiculously reliable and have amazing build-quality, but with a weakness of not actually excelling at anything else.
      When it comes to ultrabooks, you get the same pros and cons listed above, but with the added bonus of the PCs costing the same price as the Mac lineup.
      (Speaking from experience with both.)

  • @eruno_
    @eruno_ 7 ปีที่แล้ว +99

    I actually kinda like it. Maybe I should consider buying it.
    Can you play performance intensive visual novels on it though? That's the question.

    • @isaac52050
      @isaac52050 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      コイノ/ Koino Intensive in what sense if i may ask? Generally visual novels have low system requirements to run due to the nature of graphics in visual novels. Most modern hardware (even low-end ones) should handle it no problem.

    • @eruno_
      @eruno_ 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Isyraq Zamri
      well I remember trying to play *VA-11 HALL-A* on my old laptop and it would frequently stutter during the cutcenes. So I meant it in that sort of way (maybe bad optimization was the fault?).

    • @isaac52050
      @isaac52050 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      コイノ/ Koino should be no problem i guess. I mean, it could run Death Smile in the video, an intensive shoot-em-up. As long as it is not too graphically demanding, integrated graphics should handle most lightweight titles and even older games with no issues.

    • @ZippetySticks
      @ZippetySticks 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have Skullgirls on the GPD win, and it actually doesn't run at a full 60fps, and this device has the same specs except for more ram. I'm not sure I would recommend this for that game unless you don't mind frameskipping.

      IDK how far you think you will get with an Intel Atom, but it probably won't be as far as you think...I highly doubt that this would be fast enough or ergonomical enough to use regularly.

    If you wanna play games on the go I would just buy a Nintendo Switch

    • @ClayMann
      @ClayMann 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great choice if you want those few Nintendo games otherwise its not really giving you access to a decent library of games. Something Windows based lets you run everything with some amazing emulators out there now. You can even start improving those older game with stuff like Retroarch to get high res widescreen super smoothed versions of classic games throughout gaming history.
      Or Nintendo Switch. I'm not knocking it for being a strangely underpowered tablet because Nintendo didn't really have the faith in the Switch. Its huge success has changed its fate. I believe its even getting updated hardware during its current version run and a stupidly impressive version is coming as soon as Nintendo and Nvidia can put it all together. So next year maybe? Until then, you want something Windows based for maximum emulation. You can emulate under android but its a bit limited.

    So it's still not possible to type at full speed on this, then I think GPD Win still makes more sense, although I can only type with my thumbs, but definitely at a much higher speed than touch screen keyboard. And using the integrated gaming thumb stick to control mouse is quite usable too, I can use it everywhere I go without needing a table.

    Windows licences for small touch screen devices are 'free' and they introduced that to match the other 'free' OS' on the market in iOS and Android.
    The con is that they really aren't free but you can grab windows 10 and install it on a compatible device with a small touch screen.

  • @Ziggurat1
    @Ziggurat1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    It is definitely a switching adapter, but that does not mean what you think it means. A switching adapter refers to how it changes the voltage, not that it can charge at different voltages.
    Windows 10 OEM license is free for use on devices with as small screen as this.

    When I played some games on my GPD Win, I had the problem that the games were sometimes too slow. Sometimes, I restarted them and they became fast, again. Or they were already fast and they became slower. They sometimes even changed their speed mid-game. Can any of you explain this? I have the feeling that this has nothing to do with the GPD company, though.

    i think part of the issue is that deathsmiles PC is all over the place as a port. love the game to bits but it's PC version doesn't have the right slowdown as far as i know and CAVE haven't fixed it.

    So, how is this better than a $30 tablet and $10 usb keyboard case?

    • @2010ngojo
      @2010ngojo 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because a 30 dollar tablet is crap. And if it runs windows, it's gonna be even worse. And this thing is more portable and powerful. Good luck finding a decent windows tablet for 30 bucks.

      It has more ram but with such a weak CPU, who cares?

    • @2010ngojo
      @2010ngojo 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Better screen, more storage? Better IO? Don't think so. And don't give me any of that "microSD exists" crap. Those things are not ment to used for frequent reads and writes. And the CPU is way better than in any 30 crap.

    Chuwi Hi10 and its official keyboard was my choice especially due to the dual OS, but this could make a cracking HTPC and pocket/handbag PC for the price.

    I'm interested how it plays Android games in RemixOS, or Linux games. (obviously, on Linux)
    Looks like it could be really good for things like The Room, Telltale games and such. Could even be pretty neat for Dwarf Fortress or Widelands on the bus. XD

    Sounds like a perfect VN player on the go, if the screen has the resolution for it.
    Would definitely get one if I had money
    EDIT: friggin' full HD screen, I NEED one now! I love tiny stuff like that, specially when it packs the power

    They should make a version with Merlin Falcon APU from AMD (10-15w TDP), 4 full Steamroller cores + 512SP gpu. It handle Skyrim well and SC2 at near max settings.

      Better stick with my linux/windows 10 on a vm and stream it to my phablet smartphone,it's way more cheaper,if you allready have the pc and the 300$ smartphone,otherwise is way more expensive.

      Then you lose part of the portability. Sure, it would be portable in your house, on your network, but outside you would no longer have game access. This is meant for business and gaming use on the go basically.

      buy a proper laptop, do everything, JosephKing75 CBP only suggests that if someone does not want to spend. If you want to spend to game, don't spend on this.
