Just a quick heads-up, Teakle pretty much did the entire preseason with Collingwood this year (including their preseason camp). He was invited to train with them late last year, and finished with them at the very end of Feb.
I think most grades were spot on, for me it highlighted that if we can get all of Zurhaar, Curtis and Ford firing, so they are consistently getting 40 plus goals a year, we will have a pretty good forward line. Another key forward to pull a defender a way will help a lot.
Some interesting team stats for our forwards that highlight our poor usage going into our forward 50 but also show how impressive our accuracy is: #1 in the league for Goal Accuracy #18 for Marks inside f50 #19 for inside 50's #19 for shots at goal for inside 50's Larkey - B+ - Good season, works his guts off, obviously his goals were down but I think we can expect 50-55 a year. I think he was sore finishing the year and poor usage really killed him. I felt our forward line looked congested a lot and we know Souv doesn't thrive in congestion, he is a lead up forward with good ground game. Bull Zurhaar - B+ - Played as a high forward a lot more, had to play as a 2nd key forward when CCJ went down and when Teakle was drafted he moved back up the ground and played better footy. All his stats are up from previous years beside goals, but with PC, Ford etc kicking more goals I am not surprised. When our usage gets better our forwards will all lift, he is probably our forward line whipping boy and gets a lot of flack. PC - A- - He is a 21 year old forward, it's not an easy position to learn in AFL, all his stats were up on previous years. Gives away a few poor free kicks that should be tidied up with maturity, did I mention he benches 165kg? Fordy - B - Moved higher up the ground during the year and was learning that role, I thought his game against the Demons was really good, was presenting high up the ground taking strong marks and kicked 2 goals. Looked like he lost a little bit of confidence with moving the ball forward later in the year, was really slow with disposal after a mark. Only 22 years old and we only used picked 56 on him. Test-Teakle - A- - 2nd Round mid season draftee, came in and did his role the best he could. Gave Larkey some freedom and released him from 2nd Ruck duty also. Larkey looked a lot better after Teaks came in. I'm not sure what more we should've expected from this guy? Curtis Taylor - C - He had good flashes against Collingwood and Melbourne, not sure what we do with him moving forward. I can see him being a really good wing player and resting in the forward line with his marking ability. Unfortunate injury to his calf ended his season early. Pink Pink Pink - B- - Recruited him as a defender, he played both ends of the ground though. I kind of put him and Teaks together and ask what more did we expect? He was a depth player who did pretty well considering. Kicked some exciting goals for us and provided another option, thanks Pinky Big Game Zane - B - I think we have been spoiled by Colby and Sheez with our expectation of 1st year draftees. He had some exciting moments with his MOTY contender and when he was subbed on against the Cats and kicked 2. The forward line is the hardest end to start in for any player, let alone our club with our dismal usage. Played some decent VFL games aswell (11 goals from 6 games, played midfield aswell), can't wait to see him with a full pre season under his belt. Sleevo - D- - I want this guy to be a great player so badly, but he strikes me as a player who doesn't put the work in as much as he should, his body has looked the same since he was drafted. His goal against Richmond on the boundary after the siren just showcased his raw talent, He seems to be a confidence player and in a better team I could see him kicking 40 goals, disappointing yet again... Drury - D - I just don't expect much from this guy, one of those players that would tear up VFL but never translate it into the AFL. I hope he proves me wrong, but I could see him being a dislisting this year RHJ - B- - Another young forward just trying to find his feet. 20 years old, less than 10 games. I hope he puts on a little size and can lay some forward pressure tackles next year, he showed glimpses of clean ball use and scoreboard pressure at the end of the season after being the sub. CCJ & Sellers - Too little games to grade, I don't think it's fair to even give them a rating. Sellers has potential still, he kicked some bags in the VFL this year. (30 Goals off 15 games) Cooper Harvey - No rating here, had surgery early in the season. Came back put some decent games together at the end of the season after 1.5 months off, if RHJ didn't kick 4 in a game we may have seen Cooper in AFL this year. Not sure what we do with Coops, I watched the last game against Southport in the VFL and he had 7 tackles and 2 goals and looked lively in the forward half. Maybe a rookie spot?
We keep saying that our forward delivery is rubbish, and sometimes it certainly is, but watching some of the teams in the finals and seeing their forwards getting up the ground and taking relieving contested marks and working hard to lose a defender and present to the midfielders ... I think we are rating our players based on our own mediocrity. None of our forwards deserve higher than a C. Larkey is our key target, he was a D+ this season at best.
I think duursma was how i expected because I know cadman had a very similar year last year and he was a number one pick

Yep we did know that

And believe me im hoping that all changes for the better in the future

Frankly outside of Tristan Harry and ARCH they all failed miserably
For me Comben was just as important as Xerri, Archer and Harry
Comben still can't defend.
@@user-rk6nn8gh9i consider he's only played less than 30 games ,he still played a role ok when North didn't have the right defensive option's
@andyandrew7557 agreed, still think he would be better forward.
