I have 14000 miles on my 2021 M850ix. The car is a "perfect" grand touring car....... handles anything the street can throw at it comfortably. My c7 grand sport vette tames the track with ease but it can't hold a candle to the 850 in real world driving. BTW, the build quality and materials of the 850 are impeccable. You really do get what you pay for.
I have this car and I frikkin love it. Had it now for 6 months and honestly can say it is the best car I have owned to date. Test drove the m8 a couple of weeks ago and was as surprised as I was underwhelmed - it didn't feel any faster (of course it is... but it was unnoticeable), the deep burble on my m850i actually sounds better and in my opinion suits the car better than the angrier, higher pitch tone of the m8. Yes there are faster cars out there. Yes there are more opulent cars out there. But as a total package, few come close. Sure, it's a BMW and there are marques with better pedigree at this price range, but that doesn't bother me. For a pure driving experience I feel I've made the right choice. Plus I have two little sprogs that just about fit in the rear seats :)
Remember the original 850csi? Blew our minds rocking that V12 pillar less coupe swag in the '90's. That car had a presence that was unreal. Mythic. Seeing one in the streets was an event. I really feel BMW should've brought back some of that V12 magic again.
I prefer this over the M8 btw. Better sound for some odd reason. And its the better GT. The 911 beats the M8 as a sports car by a lot due to size/weight advantage and the M850i beats the M8 as a GT. So from my perspective there is no reason to ever get the M8.

This is the best car BMW builds. And its the first BMW I will get. So BMW really did something special with that car. I am absolutely in love with it.
