I am a catechumen in the Latin rite, I’m fourteen and have atheist parents. The Eastern Catholic Church has helped my faith so much! I have one about an hour away , when I finish my conversion my parents said they would take me to!

Forty-nine years at this end attending Ukrainian Catholic parish, perhaps half of the Sundays of my adult life, now singing in their choir. I have tried but never adjusted to the reformed Latin Rite Mass, but God in his wisdom and kindness allowed us to buy a home a half mile from the Ukrainian church here. A seamless liturgy, total participation without the loss of any reverence, everything aimed at God and the sacrifice.
You talked about the extraordinary form mass, and then mentioned not trying to figure out the mass. Reminds me of the first time I went to Latin mass. I tried to figure out what was going on, I left the mass disappointed. The next time I was invited a friend told me to just sit back and enjoy it. That is all it took for me to fall in love with the Latin mass. I have felt the pull to the eastern church since having 2 friends who are byzantine to rite. I need to go out to Omaha some Saturday to experience this
Officially RC here but was raised in both "rites' Latin and Byzantine (my mother's side of the family's rite). I've been attending a byzantine rite church each Sunday for years and love it. I can't see myself going through the hassle of officially changing rites though-who needs more paperwork, headaches, bureaucracy when we are all Catholics.
Please see my response above. I do not necessarily think any Orthodox should become Catholic or any Catholic should become Orthodox. I think we should be looking for reasons that we are similar rather than different. As a Catholic I will cling to my faith. Idea that Orthodoxy has remained unchanged is simply untrue.
For instance, Palamism Is a development in Orthodoxy and is important in Orthodox monasticism. However, it certainly wasn't present in the beginning. The separation of God into his essence and energies, though both uncreated, which seemed to contradict the first Council of Nicaea. There was even division in the Orthodox Church regarding this. However despite this the Catholic Church has never condemned it.
The Catholic Church is much more understanding of differences in perception on the part of the eastern churches that in fact have changed over time than the eastern churches are of the Catholic Church.
Are you referring to the byzantine catholic rite or the byzantine orthodox rite?

I am a Western Roman Catholic who attends the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Latin Rite aka the Tridentine Latin Mass and have been an Acolyte server for almost 3 years now. Our local Chaplin/Celebrant Fr. Peter Hrytsyk, whose a half Ukrainian Byzantine Priest from the Ukrainian Eastern Byzantine Catholic Church, has been celebrating the Tridentine Latin Mass in our Latin Mass community for almost 20 years now here in Windsor Essex, Ontario, Canada and we have been so bless to have him, especially celebrating his 50th Anniversary of Priestly ministry. I have also visited and attended a few of the Byzantine Divine Liturgies in his local Ukrainian Catholic Church Parish in the city and yes it is quite different, but has been an amazing experience.
Father, thank you very much for a wonderful explanation of the Eastern liturgy. I'm a Latin rite Catholic and we do sometimes attend the traditional Latin Mass. We are lucky in that we are parishioners at a church where the Novus Ordo mass is done correctly. Our Lady of the Rosary in Greenville, SC. Our pastor is a former Anglican priest. He came into the Catholic Church I think about 12 or 13 years ago. The Mass is done beautifully ad orientem, incense, communion rail, the way I think the Novus Ordo was supposed to be. When it is done correctly and reverently it can be very beautiful. I am very appreciative of the Eastern liturgies. We attended a Maronite Church for many years before moving. When we are on a trip we go to an Eastern liturgy if we can. It is majestic and beautiful and you are quite correct, it brings you up to Heaven for a short time.
I am a Roman Catholic and I wish there was a Easter Catholic Church in my country. I love the rite, and I wish to change to the Divine Liturgy. I actually do some eastern religious practices.

@@AnonymousPHofficial I'm Roman Catholic. Near me there are a few orthodox parishes and I bought some icons and prayer ropes. I also pray in greek and read some eastern theology. That's all I can do.

I am a Latin Rite but I love the Byzantine Divine Liturgy and the Eastern Rite traditions. We in the west have lost our love for tradition.
Yeah. I altar serve at a Latin Mass half the year and go to the Byzantine Divine Liturgy the other half of the year (m fam travels seasonally). I feel spiritually dead in the Novus Ordo. The TLM and slightly moreso the Byzantine Divine Liturgy lift my soul to Christ and only make me love his Church more. I feel like I have recovered ancient treasures at those masses.
@@_kidtripp7772don’t you pray prepare the NO Mass for God’s grace? Our Lord is present in the NO because he is present in the Eucharist, in the Word, and in our gathering together. Maybe you can challenge yourself to find Christ in Our midst. Sometimes he comes as a still small voice.
@@jupiterinaries6150 I went to the Novus Ordo Mass for 7 months as I went through RCIA and before then for a year before with my grandmother. Once I began going to the Byzantine Divine Liturgy and TLM, I have never gone back to the Novus Ordo because there is hardly any reverence in the Novus Ordo. There are altar girls, people receiving communion on the hand, ministers who are not priests, no prayers at the foot of the altar, no Latin, the priest isn't ad orientem (which is an apostolic tradition), women are not covering their heads as St. Paul in SCRIPTURE commanded, and there is almost no silence. It's constant hymns that come from Protestantism and there is hardly ever Gregorian chant. Christ is King and should be treated with the magnanimity that is found in the TLM and Byzantine Divine Liturgy. The Novus Ordo cut out so many prayers to please modern man. The whole concept of a "New Mass" is disgusting because it suggests that we are better than our predecessors. Watch the Mass of the Ages "Mass Revision" video and you'll understand.
@@_kidtripp7772 Nothing wrong with receiving communion in the hand, you can still be reverent besides it’s true food as Jesus said. If you were starving and ate a bag full of consecrated wafers it would satisfy your hunger. Christs body is “meat indeed.” You should also remember that the Mass is a celebration of thanksgiving too. It’s where we as a community of the faithful come together to be blessed by God and celebrate. I’ve been to many TLM and I like them but they’re not as communal and people are kinda doing their own thing. At Mass one should be focusing on the readings and the prayers not reading a devotional or saying the Rosary. Have you prayerfully studied the Catechism?
@@jupiterinaries6150 It is not apostolic to receive communion in the hand. When you receive communion in the hand, it is easy for occultists to take the host for black masses (this is documented), it treats the Eucharist like normal bread (whereas kneeling and receiving on the tongue emphasizes our stature as lambs of God and the priest receives communion in the hand as the shepherd of his parish), people can walk out holding the Eucharist (this is also documented), and the particles of the host (of which every part is Jesus Christ the God-man) are all over our fingers. When a priest is ordained, (at least in the old Roman rite idk about the new) his hands were consecrated to even touch the Blessed Sacrament and, when you were baptized in the old Roman rite , blessed salt was put on your tongue to consecrate it for the Eucharist (this was removed in the Novus Ordo rite for baptism. The Eucharist is God almighty, (more precious than Gold and, in a way, more dangerous than uranium). Our Lord should be given the best and that's not done at the Novus Ordo. If any saint from before the 1960s saw this, they would be outraged at this. In respect to your feeling of a more communal nature of the Novus Ordo, the primary function of Holy Mass is not community but the Sacrifice on the Altar offered for the living and the dead. Community is important, but that's what the parish hall is for. I'm not saying you're not supposed to be friendly and charitable towards others at Church. One shouldn't be seeking attention at Church. Private devotions during Holy Mass were encouraged before the 60s'. I rarely, if ever, take notice of what others are doing at Mass. Some pray the rosary, others follow the Missal, and others focus upon the actions of the altar. This is honestly more "active" participation than the uniform responses and lack of private devotion at Mass that I see when I go to a Novus Ordo. Note: I am not denying the validity of the Novus Ordo rites but I am saying that they contain many less prayers and, for those that remain, are very simplified. I really suggest watching the Mass of the Ages trilogy to get an idea of the honestly retarded decisions made after Vatican II by the hierarchy.

If you are a Latin Rite and like the more Traditional Mass, you will love the Divine Liturgy. I felt like it was the Mass on steroids, just enjoy the beauty.

I am a Brazilian seminarian. As a baby, I was baptized in the Byzantine rite, as I am of Ukrainian descent through my mother, but I grew up in the Latin rite, and I am in a Latin rite seminary. When I am ordained a priest, can I celebrate the sacraments (especially the Eucharist) in both rites, or just in the rite in which I was formed? I also extend my question to priests who were baptized and ordained in the same rite, if there is any rule about this. Thank you for your content, it is helping me a lot in my training.
Priests from Byzantine Catholic rites are allowed to celebrate in both.
As you have been baptised Byzantine, there could be an issue because you made no formal documents of passage from one rite to another, so there might be an issue there

This answered my question why Roman Catholics does not receive the blood of Christ every mass. I only received it maybe once or twice in my life.
Interesting you mentioned this. I'm RC and since the Covid plandemic I've noticed some parishes are not distributing the blood of christ

Hi, for the last year have been attending mass every week. And a divine litergy as well right after I come out of mass. Could I remain biritual?
For example, one of the priests that celebrates the divine liturgy at the byzantine church in my town also occasionally celebrates mass when needed in the Roman church in our town.
As ever since the Romanist Pseudo-Church was formed when it broke away from the other 4 ancient Patriarchates and those in the Patriarchate of the West who opposed their breakaway, in 1054, it seeks to impose complete submission to Rome, the junior third of the see of Peter (and Paul).
These video productions are very good. I am currenrly a Catacheumen of the Latin Rite, to be baptised this easter, god willing. Before I decided to go Latin I was going to become Orthodox, just discovering the Byzentine Rite of the Catholic church seems to be the best of both!
Byzantine or Roman Catholic Church is the same Church. The RITE is different.

I am a Roman Catholic blessed to also have a Byzantine Catholic church in my neighborhood. It’s wonderful!
I wish Byzantine churches were as common as Latin Rite, but there are so few. Even large states like Texas and California have few. I think Florida has only two? If they were everywhere, I might petition to change rites, but there is no Byzantine church near anywhere I want to retire.

Does the Byzantine Catholic Church follow the Julian or Gregorian calendar?, I went to a Eastern Orthodox liturgy last week watched a Byzantine Catholic liturgy online and realized the readings were different.

No brother. They are Unionists in union with Rome ; As both of us are Orthodox we consider them heretics as they accept the authority of the Pope and all of his wrong teaching that our Church views. This union movement started in my country Romania in an attempt from the Pope to get a grip from inside by letting us autonomy as 1 Bishop signed it to gain political power in Transilvania. As a greek you should remember what Saint Mark of Ephesos said about the union with Rome.

Hey father im confirmed in riman catholic church but all the horrors of the novus ordo and the disrespect to Our Lord in the Eucharist i left and my sons are now confirmed byzantine. The parish we attend treats the eucharist like it should be with reverence and love. Our priest is one of the finest men i have ever met. Glory to Jesus Christ!
@CatholicDefender-bp7my no they are horrors. The amount of abuse that goes on is allowed. Yep I have communicated multiple times there is nothing they will do which is why I went where I know Jesus in the eucharist is revered.

@@whitneyferoce4870I have been to Masses in Chicago City, Tempe, St Mary in Orlando, Frankfurt, Luxembourg, Bali, HK, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore, the Cathedrals in Sydney, Milbourne, Perth (including parishes in Perth), but none of them clown Masses. One tree doesn't make a forest. One leaf does not make autumn. I am sure there are some abuses around but remain a small minority. There are problems in the TLM too. Please don't get sold on Rad Trad propaganda . All recent Eucharistic miracles occur in NO Masses and none in TLM. This shows God is satisfied enough with NO to grant Eucharistic miracles.

Yes, but it's VERY VERY DIFFERENT so I recommend you watch this video again and pay very close attention to how you receive Holy Communion in the Byzantine way. I see you're Brazilian so you may not have understood fully what he said since you speak Portuguese. No disrespect intended and if I'm wrong, I apologize. I'm only trying to help! Just remember that the Body and Blood are received at the same time via a small spoon that is put into your mouth and that you DO NOT close your mouth over the spoon....the Priest will tip the spoon over so that the Body and Blood fall off onto your tongue.

Father can you do a video refuting eastern orthodoxy? Orthodox apologists are crushing us catholics on youtube and the romans cant refute their arguments. I thought perhaps we byzantine catholics might have a perspective to shed light on the errors on both sides?
Could you share those arguments with us? I know of non and have seen the orthodox arguments debunked.

They are the same. Only the culture and architecture is different.
Roman Church is one of 24 Catholic churches.
Eastern catholics are eastern rite catholics.
Western catholics or roman catholics and latin/roman rite catholics.

Are Roman Catholics welcome? Absolutely. But kindly leave your latin supremacism at the door. We don't need to hear your idea about how it would be nice for everyone to pray a rosary before the Liturgy starts. Let roman devotions stay in roman churches and come check out ours with an open mind, willing to experience and explore our tradition as it was received, rather than finding ways to personalize or tweak it by latinizing it.
I speak from experience after we had a bunch of trad romans recently come through the parish.
Roman supremacy?!?; LOL!! My Mom's side are all Byzantine and my Dad's side are all Roman. My Mom introduced me to the Byzantine Divine Liturgy when I was VERY young and to this very day I find the Byzantine rite superior in EVERY WAY, HANDS DOWN!! I don't know what you're talking about about but anyone who wants to see what a REAL Mass should be just needs to go to one Byzantine Mass.
