Somehow I haven't tried spaghetti and tteokbokki in one dish, despite dining out in Seoul a bunch. Now I NEED to give it a spin, haha... looks quite good, strangely!

I went to the Korean Language School at Yonsei from 2006-2007. The food was cheap but it was so tasteless and unappetising that I would eat in Sinchon instead. There were many cheap restaurants that sold tastier food. But I know nowadays restaurant prices in South Korea aren't what they used to be. Good to see Yonsei University has been renovated. It was pretty grotty when I was there.
Yeah, given how prices have shot up over the years it's good to see the university offering affordable food (despite the so-so quality). But I could definitely imagine there being nearby alternatives back in 2006 that would be inexpensive AND way delicious 😅 Things ain't what they used to be!

yeah the cheese thing in Korea is actually a psychology thing from stressful times in 70s & 80s -- stress makes people want spicy; cheese helps comfort the spice. i just wish it was higher quality cheese bc it's so hard here

This was a very cute and detailed video. However, pre-wrapped, yellow to orange not firm cheese slice is NOT real cheese or even dairy -- usually oil based. Interesting side note, in Mexican cuisine is a vermicelli dish called sopa seca de fideo -- the toasted spaghetti strands are cooked in chicken broth & tomato sauce. Great with any meat dish.
Food in Korea and Japan seems to be nearly the same price as the US. Really makes you wonder how people living and working there can afford to eat out.
