- Breast fibroadenoma & fibroadenosis are two of the most common breast conditions with which patients come to the Breast Centre. They both might sound similar but the presentation and management is very different.
In this video, Dr. Rohan Khandelwal, Breast Onco-plastic Surgeon & Lead Consultant at the Breast Centre at CK Birla hospital, discusses about these two conditions in detail.
He also talks about the management of these conditions and the scarless breast surgery management (VABB - vacuum assisted breast surgery) for breast fibroadenomas, which are a very common cause of breast lumps.

I'm a 36 year old woman. I stopped breastfeeding 8 months ago. Since then i was having some itching problem in my right breast.. since 3 months, i noticed 1 lobule in right breast is little bit larger than others.
I went and had an ultrasound. It showed benign solid nodule of 6.6 mm x 3.4 mm with the diagnosis of fibroadenoma (BIRIDS II) in the right breast.
Doctor prescribed me primosa boost and Evion for 3 months... 1 month gone, but no reduction in size of fibroadenoma yet. After watching your video i came to know that there is no treatment.
Yes my breast is painful 1 week before every period.... and the breast is harder because lactation was more in that breast earlier.. I noticed all these changes only after stopping breastfeeding.... No brrast problems before that....
No family history of cancer.

Fibroadenosis is a non cancerous condition which usually doesn’t require surgery. It is best to get it evaluated. Management focuses on lifestyle changes and medicines.

That could be due to the medicine. Did you try other remedies for fibroadenosis?

@@seemagudisagar5073 breast pain especially in the upper outer part of breast (towards armpit). Corresponding shoulder & hand pain( In my case it's on left side). Pain tend to be more bothersome before period.

Doctor you are doing some excellent job. Am from Pakistan. At the age of 48 am facing this fibroadenosis..... Got extremely worried as surgeons told me that at the age of 48 it didn't happen n can be very risky. my surgeon recommended me to go for immediate surgery. My excision biopsy is all clear, but duct actasia n fibroadenosis was diagnosed. Doctor advised me to take vitamin E. What treatment or prevention i should carry out . Please make a full informative video on fibroadenosis at age 48 plus.

Right breast shows tiny ill-defined cystic area measuring about (9×7) mm at the 1 to 2 o clock position.
Impression : ill- defined cystic sol in tthe right breast

Usually fibroadenomas are non cancerous. You should monitor the size of the lesion. If it is increasing, then please get it removed

Yes! For fibroadenosis, you don’t require surgery. It’s because of hormonal changes and it settles with time and medicines

*MULTIPLE well-defined homogeneously hypoechoic, lobulated, wider than taller, solid mass lesions of varying sizes are seen in both breast parenchyma.
Right breast:
Two lesions at approx 10 - 11 O'clock position in supero-lateral quadrant, larger SOL of approx 27 x 16 mm towards the axillary tail and approx 17 x 08 mm size lesion in peri-areolar region.
15 x 10 mm at 9 - 10 O'clock in supero-lateral quadrant
Left Breast:
14 x 08 mm at 2-3 O' Clock position in supero-lateral quadrant of left breast parenchyma.

Well defined ,hypoechoic ,round to oval lesion of size 7×4mm wider than taller noted in outer quadrant of right breast 9 o clock position .
Lesion does not show internal vascularity,calcification or cystic changes with in.fat planes with the surrounding structures are well maintained.
Rest of the gland shows normal glandular pattern.
Sub-cutaneous plane appears normal.
Retro mammary plane well maintained.
No abnormal ducal dilatation.
Right axilla reveals no obvious sonographic abnormality.
IMPRESSION-
Right breast reveals
Well defined hypoechoic, Round to oval lesion in outer quadrant of right breast as described suggestive of birads type ll lestion . fibroadenoma .
Mammography report-
Both breast show normal fibroglandular tissue.
No evidence of spiculation , calcification or nodules is seen.
No evidence of scarring.
USGBOTH BREAST
No evidence of cystic or solid nodule.
IMPRESSION. Normal mammogram .
