    I use the small pan and flip it with the pan itself, no utinsels. Practice with a piece of bread until you think you've got the hang of it then try it with an egg. You want to slide it up and over slide gently back down into the pan. When you learn it show us in your video. Thanks. Like most of the videos BTW. Also subscribed to Jack on the go.

    Jack, if yo want to do sunny side up put a splash of water in the pan and cover it. Try it and do a vid. The white part gets steamed but the yellow stays wet. I sprinkle a bit of salt on the whites. After you put the lid on you shut the heat and wait about 60 seconds. Perfect every time.

    "Perfect" is a matter of opinion. I put my pan on med-high heat so the egg doesn't spread too much. I cook it "Thai style" with crispy edges. I like to get the yolk just barely cook so it's more like jelly. Then I drop it on a toasted English muffin.

    Jacques Pepin says crack an egg on a flat surface and it will not crack in pieces. It will crack down the middle. Also it will not introduce bacteria that is often on egg shells. Scary that so many are wondering how to fry and egg though lol no offense

    I also turn my heat off after I flip and there is definitely enough heat to finish cooking the eggs. I can use a small pan, but I use a flexible spatula and they turn out perfect. I can also use a cast iron skillet with non-stick results when I use the non-stick spray and keep the heat down to med-low.

    I disagree 100% . I use the small pan with a coating of butter then add some water.
    Crack two or three eggs, cover with lid. Water turns to steam which cooks the eggs
    on top. Turn the heat off and let the eggs cook. I've cooked eggs this way for years
    and I'm not changing.

  • @sickassfoo
    @sickassfoo 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Instead of a bigger pan why don't you just use a smaller spatula?

    • @jeffstanley4593
      @jeffstanley4593 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That sort of makes sense but it does not work that way. The egg is a certain size, actually it is UP TO but not necessarily the size of its cooking pan. If you have to small a spatula, it will not or may not lift the egg intact. In other words, it may split and fall apart. So, maybe, maybe not.

      macboogieland the egg whites have to be cooked a few inches around the egg before you can flip and not break the yoke. Removing the pan and tilting it is key. Also let it roll onto the pan instead of dropping hard back into the the pan when you flip the egg.

    Happy new year mi amigo... Have you done a breakfast taco yet, with pancakes as the shell? :)

    It’s the roll part I have trouble with. The white of the egg always doesn’t completely turn over and the egg is folded on itself. Plus, what was the temperature of the egg you cracked?

    Nah. The better way is to baste it. Use a medium low heat and don't flip it. Put a couple tablespoons of water in the frying pan and cover for 1-2 minutes, either slide the egg on a plate or carefully plate with a spatula. As far as fat goes, butter is good, bacon fat is even better. Either will give better flavor than spray. This method will produce an egg that's almost like a poached egg. Kind of a cross between poached and fried.

      NotSoSlimJim it's not what you say, it's how you say it. And people don't like to be "talked" down to. My guess.

    Do you have to use the pan spray for the egg? Or if not will it just stick.
