You know what's weird in This Is England? Banjo and Meggy get treated like just regular mates. They both participated in the assault on Milky in the original film, innit? Yes, Combo turned on them in the course of the assault. Nevertheless, they were there. They didn't stop it. Meggy got glassed in the course of saying he wanted to get in on it. Shaun wouldn't know all of that, but he'd fuckin' know Banjo was holding him down as the assault was happening. It's a bit out of order that Combo got killed out of all that and Banjo and Meggy just skated.
Meggy was telling him to stop but Meggy was older, fat and had a weak heart he couldn't stop combo. Maybe Banjo could have he's a big guy but he didn't he let it happen so yeh he was as much at fault as Combo but not Meggy.
@Ben Holmes it wasnt just the attack though. They were all big on the NF and the attack in the shop too. Meadows does give the viewer a lot of their own creative play between the series'. For instance no way do Lol and Woody just miraculously end up in a happy family life straight away after reconciliation. Its easy to imagine a lot of the two years were spent coping with their trama.
@Ben Holmes you mean all 4 of them terrorising, threatening and stealing from Mr Sandhu (who while not profilic in screentime, becomes a key part of Shauns family later on) isnt a vile action in itself? Everyone remembers that attack on Milky. But that overshadows the shop scene which is so uneasy to watch too. Lets not forgot later 6 years down the line Banjo was at the wedding reception Sandhu was at. I seem to remember Banjo goading Combo on in the attack on Milky too. As I said, Shaun Meadows left it up to us to connect the dots in the most part.
If you listened Banjo said at first "I want some of this" then he looked at Milky all bloodied and said "We want out of it" that's what cause Combo to attack him, in his mind Banjo wasn't tough enough because he quickly changed his mind like that.
I love This Is England but after watching Rita Sue and Bob too which was actually made in the 80s I can't help but notice how non 80s everyone acts. I think it's because they're improvising most of the time but to me they just sound like 2000s kids 😅 I mean, did people say "two in the pink, one in the stink" in the 80s? I didn't hear people start saying that until like 2009. Also I'm not surprised they cut that monologue about funerals. That was awful.

Why would they not use that 🤣
Lol's dad lurking round the corner is terrifying 😳
Yaaaaaa!! So much great material cut.
It's why I'm glad she murdered him. He was a real skell he was. Creep.
Hated the why this just dismissed Banjo's past
Lol's Dad creeping around that corner is absolutely horrifying. They should have kept that bit.
It was in Lol's head. He was dead by that point. I'm glad they kept it out. He was dodgy enough.
@@ProfessorKenneth I know! That kind of makes it even more horrifying, cos he can creep around undetected, haunting her.
