This is horrible, why should people have to depend on local power companies and have to wait WEEKS for electricity? These power companies should have designed their equipment to be strong enough to stand against strong winds, etc., or at least have the equipment protected some way from weather. All they will do is band aid the stuff until the next strong storm to inconvenience their customers again and again.
Quite possibly the most uniformed comment on the subject. There is no “designing” transmission lines that can withstand those kinds of winds. That’s a complete rebuild of downed lines that carry upwards of 350,000 volts of electricity. My goodness you think the electricity fairy is gonna just pop down and fix all those? You really need to figure out how a “Power Grid” works. Those lines carry the majority of any electricity going to any house, business, power pole, city light, street light….from miles and miles away. Sheesh people’s expectations. In the 60’s and 70’s we’d lose power here for months during a hurricane. Get over yourself.
