All employees in the Houston area should have been sent home early instead of letting us stay until 5:00pm COH should have dismissed employees early , instead most of the employees were stuck on roads unable to make it home and in a lot of danger
The sky did turn green! I'm in Cypress Texas near Tomball. This thing came in hard, lasted about 30 min or so, and I mean it was wicked. The sky was a weird color, the winds were fierce! Then it was gone! I live in a residential of about 400,000 dollar homes. Tree branches and debris everywhere! The audience you need to know, I had no cell phone signal for hours! That's how fragile it is! Our security. Our lines of communication. We didn't know how bad it was out there in this massive city. A 30 minute storm! Approx. 30 minutes is all it took! Power is out! It's near 0800 hrs this morning. The bayou that is behind our homes was flooding and rolling good after that storm, which is great, however for Woodlands, and Kingwood, Montgomery County etc bad bad signs of flooding. Look, these storm have been going on here and in the Midwest! For weeks! This is a bad, bad, sign! I think that summer will be brutal! Florida/hurricanes, etc! Love, from Cypress Texas, Harris County! 30 minutes is all it took! Grid down!!!!! Mayday! Grid is down!
Notice we have all of these cute Meterologists … AND NO WARNING!!! I watched the weather report all week… And NO WARNING. Do not trust the news for anything useful.
If those storms that lasted less then 2 hours yesterday afternoon were about the same as a Cat I hurricane... then what's a real Cat III or IV HURRICANE going to do to this part of Texas when one spins overhead for 12 to 24 hours straight??? It seems to me that Texas is becoming less resilient the longer we go without a major storm system hitting this area... among other problems, far too many people are here now who have never "enjoyed the effects" of a truly strong hurricane and how it just goes on continuously for half a day then after getting nice and calm for maybe an hour it then starts again but in the opposite direction! The storms yesterday were bad, but as a life-long area Texan I've seen so much worse.... Harvey for all it's damage in 2017 wasn't a wind storm for this part of Texas it was just a rain maker when it was tracking overhead. The last strong windstorm to come across Houston was Ike a Cat 3 storm in 2008! That was what, 14 years ago already.... how time flies, and how dumb people become to what a truly bad storm is like around here. smh! 😕
One of the dumbest things is that we still have power lines just hanging. Other places have them going underground. Sure, it would be expensive to switch, but we really should begin That process. It's always the same story with hurricanes and even with just strong rainstorms sometimes. People lose power a lot. If we already know that the weather gets bad, that it's getting worse through climate change, then it makes sense to start changing things
@@cram2979 So who isn't essential? Which people who are willing to part ways with 40+ hours of time every week to give to an employer are not essential and should GFTS because we don't need them?
@@TapiaJ Makes more sense than a liquor store. I know the "withdrawals" argument. Well, what better time to force people to seek a doctor's guidance through the withdrawals and maybe quit by closing the liquor stores! But no, they get to stay open.

Aww. my heart hurts very muchh to hear about the mom who persished trying to move her vehicle. ...the only thing important right now is power. Please focus your news on restoration efforts and information. We are in the dark, literally and figuratively.
I don't have power. I get it, but that's not the only thing that matters now. It's an inconvenience. People died, people's homes and businesses are destroyed, and there are roads that can't be navigated safely. We lost power. Boohoo. We live in Houston. It's not the 1st and far from the last. Consider yourself lucky that power is what you're concerned about.
