- Our crews report heavy damage in downtown Houston after a fierce thunderstorm roared through the area Thursday evening. At least 4 people were killed.

The weather in Texas has been getting crazier and crazier year after year.
Coastal Texas is crazy
No it hasn't. Its that there are millions of people with cell cameras. With internet access. That report 24/7 news. I have seen many Springs. Where the weather was just like this.

Old folks from Texas know two things: do not live near a river (like San Jacinto), or near a reservoir or you risk serious flooding or worse.

This was basically a Category 1 hurricane that hit Houston. So many uprooted trees, downed power lines, blown out high rise windows

think the buildings added to the pressure and wind tunneling, directly north of Houston maybe 5 miles into the suburbs the storm was not very strong and we had no idea downtown was getting blasted very unpredictably.
I lived in Houston between 2007-2009. This is among many reasons why I got the hell out.

12 years for me. Many reasons I left, but weather was a big one. Ike was the final straw for me. Looks like we both ended up in the PNW 😄

I'm older than dirt. I remember seeing stuff like this in Kalamazoo, MI after the May 15, 1980 tornado. I was a couple months shy of turning 9.
Plus we had a direct hit hurricane back in 08 I guess they forgot that existed

I live in Houston and I can’t believe we survived. We have power outage across our entire neighborhood. It’s completely flooded. Eight trees are completely knocked down. Three houses are just destroyed.

No one had any idea storm was coming. Now everyone without power looking for a generator. My ADVICE everyone should already have a generator or two.
Just happened in Milan Italy 2 days ago, and southern Brazil flooded out, as well as twice in Dubai in the last 6 weeks!
This is only the beginning. Like an elderly man told me about a few months back. 2024 is going to be the year of, the very violent and dangerous weather. I truly believe that, someone above is trying to tell us something. You can laugh at my comment if you want.

This was like a August/September Cat 4 hurricane in May.

Not spectacular in the slightest. I was in my bathroom praying because I thought I heard what sounded like a tornado in the distance and since I don’t live too far away from Towne Lake where a ef1 tornado was seen I most likely did hear a tornado. That tornado.

I've lived where there were earthquakes (California) and where there were brutal winters (Maine), but I've never seen a tornado in person. The devastation is shocking.

Im in san antonio and when i felt a cold gust of wind that afternoon despite the warm day, and my car was nudged by the wind at 5mph, i knew empirically that similar tornadoes were happening in Houston. Sure enough it got the windows of 1000 louisiana and caused fatalities
As an insurance agent this is why I ask you if you have flood or wind. Here in Houston most of the time the answer is no and we’ll get it later when we need it. This shows that from one day to the other shit like this can definitely happen.
I would guess that you remember hurricane Ike. My husband and I lived in Bridge City TX when Ike hit. The news was all about Galveston but we were hit by a storm serge from Sabine Lake. I remember a FEMA agent say you have to expect that living on the Gulf of Mexico. He thought Sabine lake was the gulf. Not funny but you have to laugh.
We were in the midst of remodeling our modest home when we got 5 feet of water in our home and water in all but 14 homes. We are surrounded by water on 3 sides. We had flood insurance and you would be astounded by the number of people who did not. It was a hard time building back but easier with flood insurance. Even if you are not on a flood plane you need flood insurance.
We live north of interstate 10 and not on a flood plane. We still have flood insurance.

It's true. Houston native. Auto especially has sky rocketed with the illegal situation and flooding. Home flood insurance is separate and I have no idea what it's doing but I'm sure not good.
When something similar happened in Beijing recently, people were pulled from their high rise apartments by high winds. best not to stand too close.
Wow - the destruction is so widespread. I haven't seen skyscrapers that battered since a tornado hit Forth Worth back in the day.
There was similar damage to downtown during Hurricane Ike in 2008, but I think this may have been worse and more widespread. I may be wrong.
All the glass that fell from the downtown buildings happened in hurricane Alicia in 1983. They replaced the windows with hurricane glass after that. Hurricane Ike was strong and powerful but the glass held up much better.
@@txgal6855 I have since moved back home, but I lived in Houston between 2007-2009 and worked downtown in Allen Center. My office was closed for the entire next week due to all the glass and other debris in the streets from Ike.

Sounds like a "micro burst" we had one on the mountain. Loud screaming winds, high winds, lots of lightning & rain. Toppled 70' pines of every kind. Sent things flying OFF the ground. Grew up in the mid west. This was no tornado but had all the feel of one. Extensive damage.

This was a derecho, basically an inland hurricane that moves through an area quickly leaving massive destruction. There were tornadoes as well. My sisters house in Bridgeland suffered a bit of damage but some of her neighbors homes are a loss! I just want to cry it was so horrible to see peoples homes so mangled! I can’t imagine how they feel now!

That same storm passed through fort worth early in the morning and afternoon but we didn't get that bad of a storm

This is so horrible. So much damage this year from storms and floods. I live in Arkansas and we have heavy rain and flood warnings out from the rivers. Texas has been hit so hard as other states. All those high rise buildings hit with those windows blown out. I can't imagine anyone being hit by falling depree and glass. The weather is warmer than usual and no air or fans. People need to invest in generators because the weather is getting crazier every year. God bless everyone who has suffered from these storms and floods. I hope you get your life back together and able to rebuild what you have lost. I know it's hard losing things that mean so much to you but if you came through this weather unharmed thank god you're alive because many didn't make it.

Our house in LaPorte was hit by hurricane Alicia. The stories about downtown Houston were awful. It was interesting driving along and seeing where the eye of the storm went through. All the power poles would be leaning one way, then suddenly switch to the opposite direction.
These "storm team" shows need to have a Death-O-Meter ticking on screen for the disaster junkies.

It is. It was one of the few remaining brick and mortar buildings in downtown. Most others have been replaced with glass and steel.

There was a confirmed EF-1 tornado in Cypress and in Waller I believe, not sure about down town though
It’s the season for tornadoes 🌪️ and hurricane season is coming up, so, brace yourselves and pray.
This storm was like a Cat 3 Hurricane blowing through Houston spawning EF0- EF2 (?) tornadoes along the leading edge. Glad it didn't blow out the windows at the Astros game since the stadium was packed with thousands of people - that could have been really bad.

All God's people must have life, they must accept the training of the kingdom, and seek the changes in their disposition in life. This is what God requires of the people of the kingdom. The most important thing now is to enter into the training of the kingdom. Entering into the training of the kingdom includes the spiritual life. Before, there was no talking about the spiritual life, but now, as you start entering the kingdom training, you officially enter the spiritual life.)

At NOW, you will DESIRE to BECOME GOD'S PEOPLE, and BEGIN to FULLY ENTER the RIGHT PATH. To be GOD'S PEOPLE MEANS ENTERING the AGE OF THE KINGDOM. Currently, you are OFFICIALLY STARTING to ENTER the KINGDOM TRAINING, and your LIVES in the FUTURE will STOP being as SANE and careless as before; with such a LIFESTYLE, it is impossible to reach the standards that GOD DEMANDS. 🛑🙏
If you DO NOT FEEL any RUSH; it shows that you have no desire to develop yourself, that your will is chaotic and confused, and that you are incapable of fulfilling God's will. ENTERING KINGDOM TRAINING MEANS STARTING the LIFE of GOD'S PEOPLE---ARE YOU READY to ACCEPT such TRAINING? Are YOU READY to FEEL the RUSH? Are YOU READY to LIVE UNDER GOD'S PUNISHMENT? 🙏
When the WORDS of GOD COME to YOU and YOU are TESTED, HOW WILL YOU ACT?
And WHAT will you DO when you are FACED with ALL KINDS of FACTS?
In the PAST, your focus was NOT on LIFE; in the PRESENT, you must ENTER into the REALITY of LIFE, and ASK for CHANGES in your LIFE DISPOSITION. This is what the PEOPLE of the KINGDOM must GET. 🙏
ALL GOD'S PEOPLE must HAVE LIFE, they must ACCEPT KINGDOM TRAINING, and DESIRED CHANGES in their LIFE DISPOSITION. This is what GOD ASKED of the PEOPLE of the KINGDOM. ☀️🙏
The demands of God from the people of the kingdom are as follows.
1. They must ACCEPT GOD'S INSTRUCTIONS, which means, they must ACCEPT ALL the WORDS SPOKE in GOD'S WORK in the LAST DAYS. 🙏
2. They must ENTER KINGDOM TRAINING. 🙏
3. They should DESIRE for GOD to touch their HEARTS. When your HEART is FULLY TURNED to GOD, and you have a NORMAL SPIRITUAL LIFE, YOU WILL LIVE in a PLACE of FREEDOM, which MEANS YOU WILL LIVE UNDER the CARE and PROTECTION of GOD'S LOVE. When you LIVE UNDER GOD'S CARE and CARE, only then will you belong to GOD. 🙏
4. They must GET GOD. 🙏
5. They must be a MANIFESTATION of GOD'S GLORY on EARTH. 🙏

I've lived in Oregon for 31 years, and in those 31 years I noticed a huge change in the climate, the point at which is changed most dramatically was about 12 years ago. Summers are dryer, MUCH hotter, and longer and winters are dryer as well. Spring and fall are more windy than before. Climate change is here and it's not going anywhere.

Derecho is the most underrated weather event in terms of power and impact. Few people are aware that they exist but they pack a serious punch with those sustained straight line wind gusts. Stay safe out there everybody!
Am I right in thinking that a derecho is the same thing as what used to be called a line squall in English but now translated into Spanish?

this was a derecho, by the way. it's basically if tornado winds moved in a straight line as opposed to forming a funnel, and just punched its way through hundreds of miles. and like a tornado, it can escalate quickly and out of nowhere. i think it went from 'regular thunderstorm' to 'derecho' so fast that people had only twenty minutes to an hour of warning.

Yep, it spawned tornados. I was in Cypress and I watched the sky go from light gray, to green, to completely black in the span of 3 minutes right before the tornado hit. I didn’t even know about the derecho until later!

That is probably right because it came out of nowhere , it started with heavy rain and all of a sudden the wind got super strong it was flexing trees and you could just hear the power it was almost like a jet sound above the house i was amazed at how powerful it was , and it looked like heavy fog , just imagine if you are standing still and it looks like heavy fog now imagine going 50-70mph in the highway and all of a sudden heavy , foggy , windy rain comes out of nowhere ... thank god we were home and not driving while it happened for sure atleast 70-100 mph wind idk im no expert but that is what it felt like i though we had gotten it the worse but i think the center got it the worse shattering windows and all.
Climate change is making the weather worst hope America would make drastic step to stop those companies emiting carbon which is a big factor why we have a mess up weather.
