- Next to brave the den is entrepreneur, James Deddon, who is hoping his "toaster for eggs" invention will get him a dragon deal of £75k in return for 10% of his business, 'EGGXACTLY LTD'. After struggling to prove that his product actually works, James' chance of an investment is hanging by a thread. Will he be able to salvage any interests from the Dragons?
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

Essentially, he didn't have a demonstration-ready prototype. He had some technical prototypes which required more setup and were more fiddly, and under stress he screwed that up.

He is the only entrepreneur who despite being failed multiple times still managed to get Two dragons onboard.

Time Warp Depends what you define as hard really doesn’t it. I don’t have the storage space for a myriad of single-use items. I have a pan that I can use for multiple things including, but not limited to, boiling an egg. Personally I wouldn’t call adding water to a pan, adding an egg and boiling it for several minutes hard. If I was disabled in some way then those gadgets would be a great help. Luckily I am not.

A lot of electronic products fail! I've bought Apple products that failed yet Apple is doing pretty good when it comes to money. The Dragons also know that it will be an easy fix if there is a problem with the overall design and these types of products sell pretty well

He does have a product and it works, but for some reason it hasn't gone into mass production. They sent some out in 2014. You can see them tested on youtube.
@@alexojideagu It seems like the market changed, lots of cheaper, larger China-made egg cookers came out - with little water being necessary. The product simply did not have a sufficiently large appeal. The Dragons invested on the odd chance that it would turn into a multi-million-dollar idea. But the problem is that this inventor would have needed a managing team. Should have offered them 70% for leading and doing it. Better 30% of a multi-billion-dollar company than 51% of one that you cannot take off the ground.
As a Canadian I no longer watch any of the North American Dragons Dens. The British show is 110% better. The civility & the drama free zone is so refreshing. I am binge watching them from the beginning of the series. Gratitude for sharing.

If that actually works, I would love to own one. I think it's a great idea. You can wake up in the morning, pop an egg in, and have a light breakfast to start your day without a big mess.

I've watched dozens of these videos over the past few days...I am weeping with laughter at this one.

I actually like this invention, they say oh it's aproblem that doesn't exist. But it does if you need a pan of water, it takes ages to get it to boil (depending on your cooker/size of pan etc)
Least with his contraption you know that 5 mins is just 5 mins and it'll always come out the same... perfect.. less washing up, less hassle. sign me up!

Being honest, that product looks brilliant. It is exactly the nice little sort of thing that I would love to own. Hotels or B/Bs might love something like this to cook multiple eggs simultaneously to different specifications. In fact, I profoundly disagree with Deborah. She seems to enjoy being scathing regardless of the credibility of the pitch. The malfunctions of the product during the pitch could surely have been overlooked as the concept itself is very neat and modern.

This guy's already my favorite pitcher.
Interesting way to cook an egg! Looks like thermal conductive silicone pads on a solid state heater and must be controlled by a pt100 sensing thermostat. The trick to consistency will be a computer reading of the eggs temp just before startup and a non linear heat buildup from its starting temp to ratio a slow warming to faster warming to ensure the innards are cooked well. After that, a fan to stop overcooking if leaving the egg in. Perhaps DID controlled.

As someone who loves soft-boiled eggs, and sometimes needs to rush, I would love it if this type of thing could be available over here. Yes, Deborah, he potentially solves an existing problem if he can get it working as planned.
