I have been wearing Levi's 501s since the late 1960s and have a very large collection. I think the 501 jeans made between 1994-1999 are the very best and what I wear 90% of the time. During that period Levi's used the best heavy cotton denim, had the best fit for men, and were more consistent than earlier 501s due to automated rather than hand sewing. I also have vintage redline 501 jeans, one still new with tags, but I never wear them because they are too valuable being dark with little or no distressing. I definitely wouldn't pay a lot of money for a beat up pair of redline jeans when I could have a reasonably priced 1994-1999 pair of vintage 501 jeans. The very best 1994-1999 501s were the shrink-to-fits which can be identified by "501xx" (lowercase xx, not capital XX) instead of "501" on the waist tag.

Just scored a pair of Made in USA selvedge levi 505s for like $45, pretty decent vintage fades too.. you saved my ass to say the least. I'm big into raw denim but when it comes to Levis I'm completely lost. I'd also recommend Sugar Canes like you said and TCB denim for guys like me who dig the 501 style but can't afford the super well-favored ones. You end up saving money tbh and there's plenty of people in that community that'll help you figure out sizing and cost per wear to make the right choice.

What about type III Big Es? They’re the most common jacket to find, but also, from my experience, the one with the most variations over time. Very difficult for me to pin down the exact dates on them, and also prices
    Great vid! Keep at it

Have a pair Big E Tag but made in egypt? I think by the little inside tag it's CW-0119 which I understand is cut week of 2019 but just not sure why it has the Big E Levis Tag and the Leather patch says Lot 512...any thoughts on that? Thanks
