2 Timothy 3:12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ will suffer persecution.
The definition of persecution is hostility and ill-treatment.
The thing is this, and this is where anyone who professes to be in Christ, we need to examine ourselves...are we desiring to live godly lives? Or are we lukewarm? The reason why a person who desires to live godly is persecuted is because his/her lifestyle, and worldview directly in opposition to the world. There is a direct clash. But, if you're lukewarm, and you profess with your mouth Jesus Christ only, but your heart is far from Him, and you aren't standing on His Word and His way, there won't be any persecution to come your way...and that's not good. If you are a believer, then there is no getting away from it.
