Big GTA fan here, but after the defective Definitive Edition which I pre-ordered, I have decided to hold my judgement until GTA6 is released. I am not getting myself hyped up for GTA based only on hearsay. Likewise for any other games. I only got Cyberpunk after CDPR fixed all the issues and was pleasantly surprised how good it is - I'm glad I didn't preorder.

I mean GTA certainly had competition before, people forget, that at one point in history, before Volition absolutely screwed themselves into Oblivion, Saint's Row was a legit competitor to GTA, and made many innovations to the open world sandbox gameplay formula, some of which Rockstar definitely took cues from for GTA V. Now of course GTA is always going to sell more, but back when SR2 came out, it was GTA IV's direct competitor, while GTA IV offered a darker gloomier GTA game, SR2 was a throwback to the older GTA's, crazy, over the top action and fun.
