He currently has 384k subs. 10000x that would be 3.84 billion. I like the guy but if half the fucking world was subbed to him I'd find that weird and be a bit concerned tbh
Man, I don't think you get enough credit for the extra little Alicks and riffs you throw into these covers. Especially on the drums and bass! Just wanted to point out how much it adds - as a long-time drummer - to how much I enjoy your work.
My god. The arrangements you bring to these covers are just incredible. Perfectly balanced and thought out whilst being true to the song and the genre.
I felt that the non-chorus parts were too similar to the original song. It wasn't really hitting "emo anthem". It sounds great (everything Alex does sounds great!), but not titled correctly in my opinion.
I know many probably suggested Alanis but I know I did when you asked for ideas before so super pumped to see it. And knew basically any of her songs would work well Emo cuz she had some angst already. Love to see more but thanks for this
Alex, I haven't been into Blink or pop punk since the early 2000's and even then, it was just kind of "around" for me. You have given me SUCH an appreciation for several genres I've largely avoided solely because of the massive weight of your talent and passion. Love the channel. You got a subscriber for life.
This was the first album me and my mum bonded over, this song already meant a lot to me but this version just has that extra emotion! Tears were shed! Thank you
For everyone who wants to read the lyrics: An old man turned 98 He won the lottery and died the next day It's a black fly in your Chardonnay It's a death row pardon two minutes too late And isn't it ironic, don't you think? It's like rain on your wedding day It's a free ride when you've already paid It's the good advice that you just didn't take And who would've thought, it figures Mr. Play It Safe was afraid to fly He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids goodbye He waited his whole damn life to take that flight And as the plane crashed down, he thought "Well, isn't this nice?" And isn't it ironic, don't you think? It's like rain on your wedding day It's a free ride when you've already paid It's the good advice that you just didn't take And who would've thought, it figures Well, life has a funny way of sneaking up on you When you think everything's okay and everything's going right And life has a funny way of helping you out When you think everything's gone wrong and everything blows up In your face A traffic jam when you're already late A no-smoking sign on your cigarette break It's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife It's meeting the man of my dreams And then meeting his beautiful wife And isn't it ironic, don't you think? A little too ironic And, yeah, I really do think It's like rain on your wedding day It's a free ride when you've already paid It's the good advice that you just didn't take And who would've thought, it figures And, yeah, life has a funny way of sneaking up on you Life has a funny, funny way of helping you out Helping you out Thank you Alex Melton for that beautiful cover. Love your work.
I love the "isn't it ironic" then just silence as the band plays, where the original had her kinda freestyle riffing over it. Well played, Alex and the Meltons!
Saw the title, said "Heck yes!" Heard, 'lotter-ayyyy' and said, "SHUUUUUTUUUP, bruh...c'mon are you serious?!?" lol... So good. Another cover mashup we didn't know we needed...
Captures the song so well, feels like I'm hearing again but I'm actually 11 in the 90s hearing what it sounded like in life back then.... how you can trigger memories from songs that aren't the original recording and somehow trigger how I heard them is really amazing. After the bridge it was like wait this isn't the original why am I having memories and feels from 199x but too deep in the feels to care. I really felt this cover deep somehow, like inside my head. From one musician to another great job!
I don’t know how he manages to do this every time. I mean yea Alex is crazy talented but the ability to recreate classics with pieces of his unique style mixed in perfectly is something special. That being said please check out his originals because they’re fantastic as well.
Man, what a hell of a banger! Absolutely rules! Been geeking out over the new Balance and Composure songs today and this hits the spot. Keep it up, you're creating amazing music!
Love this, honestly smashing it out the park every time. Best channel I've found in a while, would be awesome if more of these were available on spotify
I wanna dish out a request for both a new and old song to cover in an emo/punk manner: For an old song, I'd love to see I Am The Walrus covered as some sort of angry anti-society emo song. For a new song, I think Cliche would work pretty well!
As someone who has never really been effected by 'celebrity' deaths, as a huge Foos fan Taylors death hit me so hard. Far harder than I ever thought the death of someone I never met could. RIP Taylor. Bet he's up there performing Under Pressure with Bowie and Mercury
Another great take Alex. I am always full blast dirty bass effects in my playing, but that last bass subtle bass outro was beautiful and gave me a kick. Sounds great as always. Love your stuff
Dude ! Your timing is like a sweet love song. Your channel was there for me when I celebrated my first paying job… I’m moved because your timing of this song matches the timing and feelings of my current chapter/slash You’re effing cool dude !
My drunk ass went on a 90s binge - Gin Blossoms, Nirvana, STP, and yes, Alanis. Wandered off to find my vape pen and this came on. Legit was jamming before I realized it was a cover. I would have rocked this on my walkman in 95!

Yeah, man has my sub, my like and you best bet i’m sharing this awesomeness.
Man's out here doing the heavy lifting in keeping an entire genre alive.
I'm just so glad I found your channel.
There is actually a bunch of peeps on YT doing it. Alex is just one of the more popular ones. Check out Todd Barriage. He’s great too!
@@Christopher_Wheeler thanks for the suggestion. This guy is awesome too 😃🙌
@@Christopher_Wheeler Of course I had to check him out. Absolutely amazing! Todd's been added to the roster. Thank you for the suggestion!
Emo? You should check out Matt Cuttshall! Little different than what’s going on here, but you might like the content he puts out

holy shit yes
This cover is almost good enough to make me forget how non-ironic the lyrics are - impressive!

The lack of irony in a song called ironic is very ironic... which is genius if intended.

I love that!! here's the extra credit for the licks and riffs!! yeaaa boi!
Can I just say that I deeply appreciate your country emo style? It's recognizably you, and decidedly lovely.
Alex can make any song sound like it was written in 2003. Which is pretty fucking epic.
My god. The arrangements you bring to these covers are just incredible. Perfectly balanced and thought out whilst being true to the song and the genre.
So intensely good. I really just wish you would cover like every song ever.
Me too, right?!? 😅 ... ❤🕊
🙋🏻♂️ Damn. That hit me REALLY HARD. Always loved Alanis, but I really FELT this one. 😥 Great Job Alex!!! ❤🕊
I felt that the non-chorus parts were too similar to the original song. It wasn't really hitting "emo anthem". It sounds great (everything Alex does sounds great!), but not titled correctly in my opinion.
Well done for not making this sound like the Four Year Strong version. Great work!
Every time he does a song I think "this is my favorite one he's ever done" and I didn't know how wrong I was until I listened to this.
id like to hear you start sneaking some screamo into stuff like this, even if its subtle background stuff. I'd totally buy stuff like that.
