I felt that the non-chorus parts were too similar to the original song. It wasn't really hitting "emo anthem". It sounds great (everything Alex does sounds great!), but not titled correctly in my opinion.
Every time he does a song I think "this is my favorite one he's ever done" and I didn't know how wrong I was until I listened to this.
This was the first album me and my mum bonded over, this song already meant a lot to me but this version just has that extra emotion!

I'm only a minute in and I think this is easily one of my favorites you've ever done
Captures the song so well, feels like I'm hearing again but I'm actually 11 in the 90s hearing what it sounded like in life back then.... how you can trigger memories from songs that aren't the original recording and somehow trigger how I heard them is really amazing. After the bridge it was like wait this isn't the original why am I having memories and feels from 199x but too deep in the feels to care. I really felt this cover deep somehow, like inside my head. From one musician to another great job!
