I love how you never change he’s to she’s or whatever. “I take this magnetic force of a man” is such a great line and I’m glad you didn’t change it. You’re so fuckin great at this.
@@bananawammabama erm, literally no lmao? Some people change lyrics to suit their preferences and I liked that he kept the original. You made it about homophobia dude
Another great T-Swift song that would shine with the pop-punk treatment is "You Are in Love" from 1989. It's begging to have some heavy guitar backing it. Hope to hear it from you some day, Alex!
I love these covers. They really help bridge a divide for certain people who may think they don't like certain music. If Taylor ever does a rock album...
I think crossovers like this are super valuable to help people recognize when they are hating something based purely on bias. Every genre of music has value and a deep history, and if you can see the parallels between the things you like and the things you hate on, that can be the crack to start to open up and appreciate a wider scope of music.
@@sirjuggles 100 percent. Friends have blind reacted to rock Taylor covers and when they comment on how good the lyrics are they are shocked that it's Taylor Swift (or some other non-rock musician). Also, it can sometimes take a bad song from an artist I like and "fix" it for me, like this one. Lover was always meh to me, but this is a banger when put in a different context.
I think she will. In her re-release of Speak Now she turned Better Than Revenge and Haunted into rock songs. And Reputation was always on the rock border. Rock adjacent if you will.
Oh hell yeah. This is my favorite song, lyrically speaking, of hers. This cover stands up to it, staring back at the original with eyeliner running down its cheek. This is perfect. You are great. Never stop.
Same thing with his “Closer” cover from the chainsmokers. I heard it today on the radio and I thought “wow this is really boring compared to Alex’s cover”
My now wife and I used this for our first dance, unfortunately we didn't have a videographer, but it was amazing. I just want to say thank you for making this cover. It perfected our first dance!
I shamelessly love the original. This cover is beautifully arranged and performed. The motif 12/8 ballad translated to math rock arpeggios. The very tasteful reharmonization, and as always your strong drum work in all your videos. It was just a 10/10 for me.
I think the testament to a good song with great lyrics is, can it be other genres or is it just the genre it was written in? This cover is so good and leads to a greater appreciation of the original. Excellent work as always
I'm digging these! Would love to hear your take on "Better Than Revenge" which already only a couple degrees removed from pop-punk, or "Haunted" which to me seems like it could work as an Evanescence or Nightwish song
I agree, "Better Than Revenge" and "Story Of Us" are about two steps away from being Paramore songs. Which explains why I liked those songs so much when I first heard them!
I love this song so much and this cover was so good!! This would kill as the final song on a pop punk album. It definitely gives me “the last song on the pop punk album that completely emotionally breaks me down” vibes 🥹
If you ever decide to tour, I would absolutely love to drum for you! I love your style and how you interpret music, man. Nostalgic pop punk, breaks are perfect, bridges perfect, hooks, chorus, and transitions never disappoint.

Alex - this is your career right here. To me, this is the best work you’ve ever done. I’ve listened to this 50 times at least, and I’ll keep going. This sound is just overwhelming. This makes me sick with longing for my love. I feel it.
Well i'm crying at experiencing this song in a new way. I wasn't expecting it to be so powerful with this instrumentation. Thanks for putting your whole chest into this
A ton of her songs make amazing emo/punk/metal transitions 🤘🏻 bad blood/shake it off would make amazing metal songs and teardrops on my guitar/ I almost do would make great emo tracks
This is soooo good!! Lover is one of my favourite songs and this emo version absolutely does it justice! 🥰💔 May I suggest Haunted or I Know Places next? Or even another beautiful slower song like The Lakes? ❤
The next time you put out bad music will be the first time you put out bad music. You keep killing it, week after week after week! Greatly appreciate all the hard work you put into these covers.
I LOVE this rendition of this song! You know a person is an amazing musician when they can take a song and make it completely different, on top of playing EVERY instrument in the song! This guy rocks!!!!! 👏🏻😁🤘🏻
I’m torn between my desire to hear you cover every song that was ever written and my excitement to see you use that incredible talent of your to make 5 original songs a day. Thank you. 👏🏽🔥
I love Taylor and I definitely listened to my fair share of emo music in middle/high school. There's something so magical about seeing songs interpreted into different genres, I love it. Bravo, this is amazing!!

Same here!
The original is really good too though, you should give it at least one listen.
